Hello, hello, my dear
Won’t you, won’t you come near
Let me whisper sweet nothings in your ear
About platforms that have no trains to run
And empty promises, except, perhaps just one?
Oh yes, that one, it’s a dark fantasy
Lost touch of reality
Can’t you see how it would be
This new world we would build
If only you fund my secret guild
And elect me, yes ME! To be your special liaison
The one you trust to pull the strings
Deep within your community, we’ll plan quiet stings
Put away the bad man, and look here at the good
Stay away from the broken hood
With it’s cracked streets, and cracked out people
Old architectural steeples
But we don’t attend those sorts of churches
Oh no, oh no, up in the limbs outside in the trees
We’ll look on in disdain from our perches
Then turn away
Come one, come all to see the shining lights
Hear the bullshit political fights
We revel in these political times
Trapped by their politician rhymes.
but what if the birds are a lie
and all we do is die
who will be there to bake the pie
