In order for them to triumph, they had to recruit their own cohorts, people who supported the cause of harmony and were willing to bell the cat against the treacherous currents.
The first individual they searched for was General Cedric, the battle-experienced protector of the kingdom. His fealty to King Theodore III was unyielding, and his mission to safeguard the realm was only outdone by his strategic acumen. Alfred and Isabella presented him their discoveries, exposing the scope of the plot's influence.
General Cedric pondered intently, a look of worry marked his wrinkled visage. "What you tell me is sobering. We confront an enemy like no other, and cannot permit them to meddle in the critical treaty-making. We must act, yet with measured caution."
