The king's blue velvet - El terciopelo azul del rey
A little yellow around here. Maybe a black brushstroke over here. Will he like the complexion of the skin? Maybe he’ll not like it. How exhausting it is to paint someone who does not know anything about color, shapes! He probably will want me to take a few years off his face, and I still can't find the definitive blue for the velvet. Concentrate. Concentrate. I'll put a little more black on it, maybe it will result in that electric tone. What a deep, terrifying color! Just like ... Just like ... the sea before the storm! That's right, it needs a few touches of black. A nostalgic blue, for the velvet that surrounds someone so lonely. I hope he’ll like it, and hang it in that remaining space in the portraits room, right next to the portrait with the sword and the hunting suit, or next to the equestrian portrait. I can't help but wonder, is it really necessary to have a room full of portraits, when he is so lonely? How much time will he hang around in between that tumult of faces that are supposed to be himself? I wonder if he has ever loved anyon… This was the necessary touch! c'est fini!

Un poco de amarillo por aquí. Quizás una pincelada negra por acá. ¿Será que le gustará la tez de la piel? Quizás no le gustará ¡Qué agotador es pintar para alguien que no sabe de color, de formas! probablemente querrá que le quite algunos años de encima, y todavía no encuentro el azul definitivo para el terciopelo. Concéntrate. Concéntrate. Le pondré un poco más de negro, quizás así resulte en ese tono tan eléctrico. ¡Qué color tan profundo, tan aterrador! Tal como… Tal como… el mar antes de la tormenta! Eso es, necesita unos toques de negro. Un azul nostálgico, para el terciopelo que rodea a alguien tan solitario. Espero que le guste, y ocupe ese espacio restante en la sala de retratos, justo alado del retrato con la espada y el traje de caza, o junto al retrato ecuestre… pero no puedo evitar preguntarme, ¿Es realmente necesario tener una sala repleta de retratos, cuando se es tan solitario?¿Cuánto tiempo merodeará entre ese tumulto de rostros que suponen ser él mismo? Me pregunto si alguna vez ha amad… Este era el toque necesario!¡Listo! c'est fini!
