“They're all after me. I cannot breathe.”
“Why do you think that is, Mr Posters?”
“Maybe, because everywhere you turn, everywhere you look, there's a sign. Bill Posters will be prosecuted.”
“Why did your father call you Bill?”
“You're a bit presumptuous,” said Bill. “How do you know it was my father that gave you that name?"
“Instinct,” said PC Stamp. “But you are right. I was being presumptuous.”
“Actually,” said Bill. “You are correct. It was my father. He wanted to name me after himself.”
“Why on earth would he do that?” asked PC Stamp.
“Bill Posters wasn't a thing back in the day. Nobody was after anyone called Bill Posters. Bill Posters could live life in peace.”
“You could live life in peace too,” said PC Stamp.
“How?” asked Bill.
“It would help if you stopped stealing stuff,” said the police officer.
“Well, I suppose so. But if you are called Bill Posters, it makes life that little bit harder.”
“I hope you are not looking for sympathy,” said PC Stamp.
“Well, maybe you could give me a clean slate,” implied Bill.
The door opens.
“Hi Terence, would you like a coffee. Sorry, I meant officer Stamp.”
“Excuse me,” said Bill Posters.
“Yes, that's right. My name is Terence Stamp.”
“As in the actor?” asked Bill.
“Yes.”
“General Zod?” asked Bill.
“Yes,” replied PC Stamp. “General Zod.”
“Why did your father call you Terence?”
“How did you know it was my father?” asked the police officer.
“Instinct,” said Bill.
“Ok, Bill,” said PC Stamp. “I'm going to give you a break. Stop stealing things and I promise you, your life will be peaceful.”
“Thank you,” said Bill. “You will not regret this.”
“Oh, if I see you again, you will soon learn regret. Your life will not be peaceful.”
They shook hands, and Bill stood up and made his way to the door.
“Not so fast, Bill,” said PC Stamp.
“What is it this time?” asked Bill.
