She woke to a pretty loud noise. She turned to get her phone from where she had dropped it before dozing off. It was just 10 p.m.
"10 p.m. and a loud growl in the night? Who or what could that be?" She asked, perplexed. Mostly tired.
Maria had come home pretty worn out. She looked like she could use some sleep. Work was more hectic today than other days and it was going to be worse tomorrow. Her plan was to sleep till 4 a.m and then eat or work but the loud noise spoilt her plans. She turned on her phone's torchlight and got out of bed in search of this loud noise. She was really scared. Her husband was away on a trip and all she had was herself and the non-living things at home.
She had gotten downstairs again when she heard the loud growl. It was closer than when it woke her up. She was more scared than before. She pointed her phone to the ceiling, maybe something was sitting up there. It growled again. This time she rushed to dial her mum's number. She picked
"Hey Mum, can I come over?" She asked, scared as hell.
"Yeah, sure. It's late though, why no-" it growled again, now her left hand was on her tummy when it growled and she felt it. She remembered she hadn't eaten since morning, hence the loud growl.
"Don't worry, Mum, I'm fine." She laughed at herself. The loud growl was her stomach telling her how wicked she was for letting it go without care. For not feeding it since morning. She dropped her phone on the kitchen slab and rushed to make herself something small to eat. Something to appease the "gods of growls." To appease her stomach's loud growl in the night.
