Vigorous Shake: The Life-Changing Shake
There are two kinds of shakes in life: the ones that wake you up and the ones that make you drool. I experienced both on the same day.
That morning, I woke up eager to start a productive day. Coffee is a sacred ritual that should not be missed. I grabbed a mug, poured in my favorite coffee grounds, then shook the almond milk in the packet before pouring it in. Vigorous shake, that’s what the back of the packet said. I don’t know what came over me, maybe the urge to obey orders wholeheartedly, but I shook it like I was trying to wake up the devil in a bottle.
The result? A small explosion. The cap didn’t close properly, and in an instant, my kitchen wall, my counter, and my face were given a touch of abstract vanilla art. I stood there, speechless, with an expression that could have been nominated for Best Actress in the “Regretting Life Decisions” category.
As I cleaned up the mess that was bigger than I expected for the new year, I got to thinking. Isn’t life like almond milk that needs to be shaken vigorously? Sometimes we have to shake up our comfort zones, take risks, and accept that there will be unexpected bumps every now and then. It can be those little setbacks that make us more agile in the face of life.
I finally made myself a new cup of coffee, this time with a more careful whisk. And as I took a sip, I smiled. There’s a lesson in every spill. If life gives you almond milk, make sure the lid is on tight before you shake it like a possessed Zumba instructor.🙃
