In the shadowy depths of the Vatican Secret Archives, the enigmatic symbolist, Professor Benjamin Hawkshaw, stumbled upon a story destined to rewrite culinary history. Whispers of "A Dane Gun" had titillated pupils in the course of the ages. Was it the mythical culinary weapon of Gustav, the Danish chef whose croissants left emperors weeping with joy? Hawkshaw could not include his ironic grin.
But as he dug deeper, the absurdity grew. "A Dane Gun" changed into no weapon in any respect but an historical recipe for pickled herring lost to time. Hawkshaw sighed, lamenting whether or not he'd ever discover a secret worth of his highbrow prowess.
