The amber light of the waves of grain shone down through the bowels of the earth, lighting up the tunnels of the voles and causing them to see and grow hands under their arms, climbing hands, and they climbed the vines of the grains all the way to the moon and colonized it, for everything from earth is a colonizer, at least those that learned from the Americans. And so the moon became voleia, land of the voles with hands under their arms, the seeing voles, the creepy non-hole dwellers who were so good at climbing that they grew tall vines to escape the moon when it got overcrowded and they wound up on a planet called Catrol, the land of the cats that had legs under their legs, and they merged their two societies and the vole-cats climbed back to the moon and then back to earth and took over earth because if you can survive on Catrol and you can survive on voleia, you can overpower any living place anywhere. The vole-cats were cool, though, they had a very live-and-let-live philosophy, it's just that they were so prolific they still crowded out everyone else and no one else was let live because no one else could live and that's really why earth was destroyed. And we all thought it would be climate change that did us in! Ha! It was the vole-cats.
