Keeping up with this blog challenge hasn't been easy, this week has been tiring for me and finding time to come on hive has been a struggle. I go to a sewing class at least three times a week, the class itself is not stressful but the journey to and fro in the rainy season is. The roads are terrible and the rains make it even worse. I come back home with a headache each time and sleep off almost immediately.
I think I'll have to adjust my blogging time to the time of the day when I still have lots of energy. I really like this challenge and happy others have joined in. You can join me, @macchiata, @starstrings01 and @lauramica if you're yet to.
So today's question is what are you afraid of. I kinda feel quite fearless right now so this seems like a tough question. It's one of those days where I feel like the biggest shot, I've been having a lot of such days and it's great for my mental health.
I'm afraid of frogs. I was once chased by a frog. I know you might think that's just crazy but I'm not lying, the frog really chased me. I steer far away from frogs now.
I'm probably afraid of all crawling creatures, gosh I hate insects too. All creepy crawlies creep me out, they scare me. As a matter of fact, I'm afraid of dogs. I act cool when moving past one but that's because I was told it won't chase you if you're not afraid or you don't run.
I'm afraid of Nigeria. Living in Nigeria doesn't favour me, especially as a woman. I could get robbed, kidnapped, killed, displaced and nothing would be done about it. A totally lawless shithole.
I'm afraid of the uncertainty. I like to be sure of things, knowing white is white and black is black. It's either this or that. So it's really disturbing and scares me that I don't have a template of my future. I worry about it a lot, how uncertain I am about my life in 3-5 years. It's easy to just forget the worries, living life as it comes striving to be better, not when there are external factors all up in your ears singing, "Do better, do better", like wtf I'm trying.
I am also afraid of uncertainties ! That's why I never think about my life in 3-5 years, not even in 2 months. Otherwise, I'd never sleep and always terrified and uneasy.
I need to try that
You are right about dogs but what made me laugh was I am afraid about Nigeria. All what you said is true I totally get but I hope things get better here.
I hope so too
I think I will join in on this challenge. Nice piece you've got here. However, I frown at the part where you say you are afraid of Nigeria because of those things you mentioned. No offense, but if I am to contribute to that, I will say it is not really making sense to talk trash about your country that way. To be frank, all nations around the world experience such things you have listed, which include rape, being robbed, kidnapped and all those stuff. This is an international community and it is quite discouraging to paint the country as black as this.
Don't get me wrong dear. Yes, these things happens in Nigeria - so it does in most part of the world (even in the United States). And I can agree with you that Nigeria can be a frustrating country. And to the front end, the government don't care shit! But this is no way to push out your frustration because it is everywhere and it is just too sad to see only Nigerians rubbishing their nations. Remember, Nigeria isn't the walls or the buildings or the roads or politics. It is you and I.
This is by no means meant to sound rude or corrective. Remember, Hive is decentralized. But this is only a suggestion I wish you will see reasons to
Once again. Nice post 📯
I will talk shit about Nigeria because its a shitty place and stresses me.
Lolzzzz... You sounds really upset oo🤣. But let me ask you, which country don't they do any of those things you mentioned. Just mentioned one for me plz
I laughed trying to picture you running from a frog...lol
Being afraid of uncertainty totally makes sense, as it would be nice to feel like we're in control of what happens in our lives once in a while.
Amongst everything I'm scared of, cockroaches top the list 😱
This would be a nice challenge to join...
Nice write up!
Please do join in, I'd love to read your posts.
I hate cockroaches too, they're so scary when they start flying
How sad what you said about Nigeria ... Although currently being a woman in any part of the world is a risk ... Hopefully that will change one day.
Its the uncertainty that kills me. Genuinely not knowing what tomorrow offers. It mskes me not want to actually plan or get any ideas.
I'm just gonna be like @macchiata and not worry about even two months from now.
Meanwhile, how about joining this challenge @belema?
Well, like you i cant seem to find the zeal to post or even engage either. I haven't even been on Hive for a while now. Its been a roller coaster ride. But let's see what happens.
I understand. I'm looking forward to you joining though. Take care.
