What is an absolute must-see if you come to Denmark?? The capital Copenhagen yes, the beaches are ok, but apart from that: Møns Klint!
The locals also call it the Cold Caribbean. - For me, it was one of Denmark's most surprising places! The 70 million-year-old chalk cliffs are crumbling into the Baltic Sea on the island of Møn, making the water super Caribbean looking clear and inviting! When I heard about that place I just had to go there.
So we decided to drive there about 2,5 hrs from the place we stayed at in the early morning. The landscape on the way was already great to look at and we even saw some oldtimers driving to some meetup on our way! - Very cool ;)
There are several parking options at Mons Klint, as it is a very wide area. We decided to walk along Følg Klintekongens Krone path, so we parked at one of those points to start that trail correctly. From there we passed some nice meadows and a little bit of forest before we reached the cliffs.
Once you reach the cliffs at Møns Klint you can climb stairs down to the beach in several places, where you can enjoy the overwhelming view of the vertical walls of the cliff. The most popular place to descend to the beach is the Maglevand Stairs at Geocenter Møns Klint. This staircase has an impressive 497 steps that you have to descend - and of course climb back up again.
We decided to go to the other side where it was way less touristy to be more calm. As we had Chapo our dog with us, we preferred to take the Liselund-trappen stairs. - Of course they also had a lot of steps :D
My friend Fie from Denmark told me that seventy million years ago, where Denmark lies today, there was a tropical sea with squid, sea urchins, mussels, and algae. Over millions of years, the skeletons of these microscopic algae sank to the seabed, forming the vast chalk layer that makes up Møns Klint and on which much of Denmark rests today.
So when you walk on the bottom of that cliff along the Caribbean-looking beach you can go fossil hunting and find these 70 million-year-old fossilized remains of sea creatures - especially sea urchins and thunderbolts.
On the other side, the calc cliffs can be very dangerous. Before we went there, we heard that at any moment some part of it could come down, so you always have to be attentive. (there were also lots of signs telling that.)... so at first, it felt very weird walking so close to danger, but step by step it became more calm and beautiful.
We were all by ourselves, enjoying the tranquility. The only sounds you could hear were the water, our steps on the wet gravel, a little bit of wind, and the dog breathing. The cliffs were so giant and impressive and the water was pretty nice. So after an hour's walk, we decided to take a break and just enjoy the view.
We enjoyed the view, ate our snacks, and then decided to go on toward the "more touristy" part. After 10 Minutes of walking further, the quietness was already almost over and we met the first people chilling at the cliffs, swimming in the water, making breaks from Kayak trips, or even fishing and snorkeling in the ocean. The sun was turning towards our side and it was getting a little bit warmer, so I decided to go into the water with Chapo as well and freshen up a little bit ;)
And then we had made it to the more public stairs to go up again. I thought from there on the hike would for sure be boring - only going back to the car and was already becoming a little bit sad that it's over already... but I thought wrong!
From up there we walked through the forest and soon noticed that At the top of Møns Klint, a long trail with several viewing points has been created. The view from above was even more impressive and beautiful!
After another hour of walking, we did one final break enjoying the view down the cliffs to this beautiful colorful waters. I just loved how after every curve the water was changing from green to blue and back. The water was very calm - just like in the Caribbean - and the tails/ beach was super empty. - This place had just this special vibes - total calmness! A great place to chill and recharge batteries <3
Chapo had to rest a little bit as well. He even lied down and slept a little bit (He usually never does that at new places :D) - Seemed like he also calmed down a lot.
From there we walked another half an hour back along the cliffs, through the forest and meadows to the car. What a great hike on a perfect day! - Highly recommended to anyone passing by Denmark!
Of course not without getting some more food to prevent the hangryness of Chapo and myself :D:D - The perfect ending to a perfect trip. If you want to get some of the calm vibes yourself - feel free to watch the video:

😂😂
It was the perfect place to take a nap! Also I had been out walking the whole week already! I really needed a break! 🐶☀️
Traveling Chapo, a great explorer 😉 You looked like you were super destroyed sleeping in the video hahaha those women have no mercy!
I sure was!! What a travel O.o

this stunning view from the steepest cliff is simply breathtaking, I would like to stand there too, adrenaline 🤩and this water changing color like a chameleon😍 also an extremely extraordinary story of a support for a large part of Denmark, which was created from a chalky layer of algae - it is truly unique😮 your the hike is just a whole basket of pacification and peace, as if I entered it myself, and it is so wonderful to have such a faithful companion as Chapo😍
IT sure is. Sometimes I would like to time-travel to see how it was back then - but its already nice and impressive to just imagine it. Thanks for stopping by and for your kind words @bugavi😘

What a magnificent spot! It seems to be a real natural gem with its spectacular cliffs and extraordinary views. A truly incredible hike. That moment by the water with your dog looks so peaceful, with that calm sea and clear horizon. It's lovely to see how much you enjoy these moments together 😍
Hey @hierundjetzt. Thanks for stopping by. Great that you liked the post. It was exactly how you said, very great and calm ❤️☀️
A lovely day for a hike. Very nice scenery of the cliff and the sea. It would take me months to get fit and strong enough for such a hike!
@kaminchan! Nice to see you here 😘
It was quite ok on the fitness level. Except for the stairs it was just a long walk 👍
Oh! Stairs!! Those steps would put me off from making my effort. But it’s easier climbing up than coming down as I often slipped several steps due to gravity and momentum.
It’s nice to go hiking and climbing mountains from time to time. It would help clearing my mind and refresh my perception.
Yes, especially if you have a dog on the leash haha! That was quite a challenge! - Oh it is so refreshing to be out in nature not thinking about anything but enjoying the view 😎😀 - I love it!
Under the thousand clouds and blue sky, this place is heaven. Twisting around cliffs and passing through forest..... It is dreamy. If I will stand on clif I might feel height phobia 😢. But I will pass every thing for such beautiful spot.
On some of the viewpoints, it was a little bit high - feeling dizzy 😅 But still totally worth it!
Liz, wow these are really great cliffs and that water is so clear. That is great that you are traveling with your dog too. Cute.
Yes, it was the perfect day for a trip like that @sjarvie5🐝 - We love travelling with the dog when possible 👍
The view of the place looks great and the clouds in the sky are visible very well. You took some great pictures. My best regards to you.
It was really special to be there and enjoy the view. Glad you like it @sharminmim and thanks for stopping by :)
