Hello dearest friends!
Today I’m back with what I hope is an interesting post, one that I actually intended to share yesterday. Unfortunately, work kept me very busy, but today I want to tell you about Montignoso—a place I didn’t know about either until my friend Fabio, a birdwatching enthusiast, introduced me to it. Montignoso is a town of 10,000 residents located in the province of Massa Carrara in Tuscany. I’m sure many of you haven’t heard of it, but it’s near a very famous area, not just in Italy but internationally—the Versilia—a vacation destination for many Italians and foreign visitors alike.
As soon as I arrived, even before beginning my usual exploratory walk, I noticed a castle in the distance. This is the Aghinolfi Castle, an ancient fortress overlooking the area, which dates back to the Lombard era. It’s in excellent condition thanks to recent restorations.
Once I got there, as always, I was struck by the exotic plants, such as aloe, which thrive here, probably aided by the beautiful microclimate in this part of Tuscany.
Continuing my walk, I stumbled upon a park adorned with beautiful sculptures. You know how much I love these naturalistic places with bits of art to admire. Here, I discovered Villa Schiff Giorgini—an 19th-century villa surrounded by a park. From what I learned, it has hosted important figures in the past and now serves as a cultural center.
As I continued my stroll, I passed by the town church and municipal building. However, I noticed that many of the structures seemed more modern. It’s possible that the town was damaged during the war, yet it hasn’t lost its charm.
Wandering further through the enchanting streets of this place, I noticed something special: you can always find a fountain to drink from. This speaks to the historical and ongoing importance of water in these areas.
I love places like this because they are immersed in natural beauty. The surrounding woods offer perfect spots for trekking and outdoor activities.
I hope the photos I shared were interesting, and I hope this discovery has been as fascinating for you as it was for me. See you next time, and I wish you all a wonderful day!

The place is incredibly beautiful. The beautiful place has been transformed into an incredible weather. Although there was a war, it has not lost its beauty, it was good to hear that, any war cannot be a solution. But now it is calm and still looks attractive. I like the place very much.

Que bonito se ve todo, desde el jardín con esculturas hasta cada foto en punto de fuga, me encanta. Seguro fue muy interesante salir de viaje con una persona que es experta en observación de aves, se aprende mucho con ellos.
Aghinolfi Castle and the sculptures in the park are so cool; they remind me of how every town has its own story to tell
