Instead of being so hateful with her for trying to bring awareness into a group that actually has relevancy on the matter, and for being so harsh on her for not being as scientific in that regards since she is learning the whole process from myself, could have been a little more gentle.
Anyway the mushroom we used was Ganoderma Reishi, since if you actually go and do research into Paul Stamets work, that is one of the mushrooms they have done studies with and which we had access to.
Ganoderma not only has many of the compounds necessary to activate those detox pathways, but it is a potent anti-viral for the honeybee, which is tremendously helpful, since the varroa mite they are dealing with does not generally kill a bee directly, but does so by weakening them & transmitting a wide range of diseases in the bee, such as crippling wing virus etc. Not only that but honeybees are said to have a lifespan of around 40 days, bees fed extracts of reishi for example have seen a doubling in their life expectancy, which is a crazy valuable discovery.
And for the one claiming mycelia has nothing to do with funghi speaks volumes about your knowledge of mushrooms & fungi, since the mycelia is the actual living organism, what grows above ground is just a fruit.
It is like telling her that apple trees have no relevance to apples.
Furthermore the observation he made that led to his discovery, happened by cultivating a mushroom patch in his garden of GIANT GARDEN MUSHROOMS, Stropharia rugosoannulata, where he observed that his honeybees would actually go to the patch, and start digging at the soil to expose the mycelia that were under the soil just to suck the juices at the root tips of the mycelia.
Also several varieties of Agaricus have been demonstrated to have similar potent effects as Reishi does & other polyspore mushrooms as well have these effects.
As a Fungi Lover at the very least I would have thought one of you would look up Paul Stamets work since he is a MYCOLOGIST, so I would presume that should be absolutely fascinating research for anyone to look into that claims to be a fungi lover.
I guess none of you are.
For those wishing to understand how we fed the mushroom you could have followed her link to my article on how we prepared the feed, but since everyone is lazy:
"We went about feeding our bees, we grew our own batch of Reishi, then made a strong extraction using the fruiting bodies, but ideally one would use the inoculated mycelial substrate as well, since the fruiting body has less of a concentration of those compounds apparently than the mycelia. We then added the extract to simple sugar water, adding small amounts of several aromatic herbs that are beneficial & attractive to bees, such as camellia, thyme, mint etc, we added these by boiling them into the water before adding the sugar & small amounts of the mushroom extract we prepared" A dose of 0.1& in solution of mushroom extract has been enough to provoke a very strong reaction in the bees in his studies, not much is needed. Furthermore the extraction of the fruiting body was done using a double extraction meaning I extracted the Reishi Mushroom by boiling in water & also by creating an alcoholic tincture, ie a dual extraction, then combined the both, since that way it won't spoil in storage once prepared, the small amounts of alcohol would evaporate anyways when added to our hot herbal tea as we mixed in the sugar. Ideally one could even do a triple extraction using water, alcohol & vinegar if one wanted to get alllll of the compounds and polysacharides out of the mushroom."
Having kept bees for several years, I had to watch several hives die & suffer unnecessarily, these 2 hives we tested this on, were utterly mind-blowing in strength, vitality, resiliency & were absolutely thriving.
Furthermore Bee's in the wild build their hives in rotting hollow tree logs, what is responsible for rotting wood? FUNGI. Well in such an environment they are not living only in a hive sealed with propolis but a hive that is literally the substrate of a wide range of fungi helping decompose the wood.
I leave you with some resources in case there is actually someone in this community that is really interested in Fungi as they claim.

@hive-166168 @qwerrie
How is this valuable to the community, do you need to create a feed? NO.
You can simply learn how to cultivate any of the above mentioned mushrooms in your garden, since most of them mentioned above are actually edible or have medicinal relevancy to us humans as well.
Bees will forage the mycelia if the substrate is accessible. While you can later harvest the fruiting bodies for your own use. WIN-WIN Situation for both parties.
For once someone posts something of tremendous interest & with far ranging ecological impact, instead of just people posting shitty posts of their sandwich rotting, or bread rotting, claiming to be fungi lovers, instead just trying to make a quick buck, by making use of the disgusting shit they have lying around their home, then claiming they love fungi? That's not a fungi lover, that is lazy & filthy.
@hive-166168 @qwerrie
Furthermore she actually used her own simple language to quite correctly discuss the matter, without exaggerating, without stealing or copying highly technical info like probabaly 90% do by just copy pasting snippets of shit about their sandwhich rot, which speaks of her genuine interest in learning about the subject.
Being authentic about what she knows, willing to learn, hoping that she would probably hear some constructive replies that actually pertained to the subject & not realize that nobody even had the actual attention span to read the full post to see what she is writing about and find out how the focus was actually fungi & their symbiotic relationship to the bee.
Sad.
@qwerrie "(mycelia is underground invisible part of fungus, like roots of a plant; I wonder how one, at all, can see this -- bees sucking mycellium?..)"
Your analogy proves your lack of knowledge of fungi, since it is absolutely wrong. The Mycelia is more akin to the Plant, what grows above ground is just a Fruit at the end of their growth cycle. It is the most ephemeral part of a fungi.
The mycelial network is actually the true living organism.
How can one see Bees sucking at mycelium? Well if you ever had grown a mushroom patch in your own garden, you would know that the mycelia extends to just below the surface of the soil, bees will push aside any loose soil to get at those fine root tips, which you can then observe them sucking at.
I am in the know of this pretty well, thank you. 🤸♂️
I would have expected from a true fungi lover:
"WOW, I did not know that Fungi & Bees actually have a deeply symbiotic relationship to one another, how interesting, I would really like to research that more, do you have resources where I can do more research?"
Instead it was more of a fixation on determining the relevancy of the post, rather than try to get a feel for what she is trying to communicate & finds fascinating in the shared relationship that they have.
I see you definitely have too much free time on your hands. Dont expect the about others.
I don't expect "the" from others. I live here & now whatever comes within the field of my presence/awareness I address if there is something off.
This world is a mess because nobody knows how to listen properly or even has the necessary attention span to pay attention to anything.
so verbose! may I skip reading this?
I had doubts about the post as community moderator,
and politely stated a question. is that ok? no hate detected?
I did not mute the x-post, neither banned the user.
still everything ok?
searched thru the post more carefully, and came to the conclusion
that it does not correspond to the theme of the community:
it is more about bees than about mushrooms.
feel free to have your own opinion on this, I don't mind.
and let's do without personal attacks on the moderator
all this 'you are hater!!!!' etc stuff - oki? all the best.
If you are a fungi lover, you would read the post since, while I reacted harshly in response to how everyone responded initially by bashing how it was not as relevant, I put in an whole article of info in my comments regarding fungi & also took the time to educate anyone interested in the subject of fungi a lesson about a dimension of their existence that probably is mostly ignored or unknown by most people. With all of the technicalities associated with it.
The initial response was very policing, which gets at me. Also a lot of false information was given to her in regards to fungi on your own part with very flawed analogies that do not reflect the reality of the science behind fungi at all.
I apologize for my harsh tone, but the initial responses really got under my skin, since I really do not enjoy people claiming to know better when the knowledge they use to backup their claims is actually utterly wrong, flawed & has the sound of being slightly condescending.
read a post instead of "searching" through it.@qwerrie if you call yourself a moderator, please have the decency to actually
All your questions from the start proved that in your 'Art' of Conversation, you actually "skip" everything that does not fit your ideas and image, and don't listen to what another one is sharing, at all.
You wanted academic details, well @ravenking13 served you and took the time to educate you on that matter, with relevant links if you were really intrigued.
Have a good day yourself
Also I did not say anyone was a hater, I just said hateful & challenged the claim of those who responded on whether they were actually fungi lovers.
Fungi interested maybe, lovers? doubtful.
Also the moderators of the community should be fungi lovers themselves, not being so fixated on how they did not get the treatment they feel their "authorities" deserved, ie, needing to be addressed any differently than I would have addressed anyone else who made those replies.
I wish you a pleasant day nonetheless, may we find humility in respecting each other as humans & equal, without needing to rely on our our titles of power.
