Yea I saw that when I saw the game being mentioned a few times. But those gas fees and everything else killed any notion of playing the game for me.

I was trying to buy in-game land with ETH and they wanted to charge me $900 to move a small amount of ETH. So I declined.

The game itself offered me that price. The amount depended on how fast you wanted the transaction to happen. The $900 amount was for the slowest time available, it was even higher if you moved the slider to the faster time.
This was last fall/winter, when they were having some kind of promo. Things may have changed for the better since then.
