I know that much attention in recent weeks has been put on the NFT-based games, mainly Splinterlands but also Rising Star, dCity, dCrops, and Rabona.

I was wondering if anyone here has experience with the gambling games (especially Lucksacks Poker). I'm expecting the gameplay to be straightforward; just learn the rules of the game and any house rules which take precedence in gameplay.

Should we be paying attention to the gambling games as well in terms of returns and gains, or are the gambling games purely recreational with no investing implications?

Well in gambling games, the house usually wins. The more you gamble, the more likely you will lose out eventually. So be careful with how much you gamble.

"House always wins" is a given. No one escapes that fact of life. It's like death and taxes. Even if some people win big on occasion, over time it evens out.

Still, people don't go to Las Vegas or Monte Carlo or Macau to play Splinterlands; they go to play traditional casino gambling games.

hey! I help out with @lucksacks poker. I think the 'investing' implications are that you can earn/win HIVE with no investment on your end... the site does NOT take deposits. You can donate for Tickets to get into bigger/different games but you are gifted a few when you first sign up, to get you started. MANY HIVE-ians have earned major HIVE playing. The site is currently getting an overhaul of sorts, so games are not running 24/7 as they normally have but I expect that to change. Hive is undergoing many changes in many ways, so it makes sense that it would be offline periodically.

I'm not expecting Hive to be Number One for casino gambling-- that's still Bitcoin-- but it would be nice to attract various kinds of players (D&D, gambling, sports, sims, trivia, family-friendly, puzzles, etc.)

D&D on Hive? Now that's more up my alley! It could be interesting

Isn't Splinterlands based on D&D? Or is it an imitation of Magick: The Gathering?

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I haven't played enough Splinterlands to verify if it's based on D&D but I can already tell it's different from Magic The Gathering in most aspects.

It has some similar elements, but then again, most card games do because MTG is the most successful and the grandfather of them all, but the core mechanics of Splinterlands are quite different!

When I mentioned D&D, I only meant that fantasy roleplaying games were one type of game on Hive blockchain.

Aah I see it now. Yea that makes sense

Never tried any of those to be honest. Not much of a gambler myself

Most of my gambling has been with slot machines. I remember when winnings at slots were in coins; these days, you get a printed receipt to take to the cashier.

If people are going to spend time visiting Bitcoin faucets for free spins to win some prizes or Satoshi, I figured there could be something similar which could draw people to Hive instead.

At the moment I don't have enough HIVE to play any kind of game, but when that time comes I'd like to be able to keep my gaming or casino experience in-house with Hive blockchain.

Oh really? Boring! I was never too much of a gambler, but the few times I did gamble it was only because the prospect of watching all those coins get spit out by a machine was really fun lol

The last time I went to a casino was within the last 5 years, so it's been at least that long that winners get receipts instead of cold hard coins. The winnings are equivalent whether it's a receipt or a bunch of coins, but the coins are much more satisfying on a primal level. The receipt makes it feel like a fed a parking meter.

Here in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania online gambling is legal. We were the fourth State to sanction online gambling.

I have the misfortune of living in New York, where my crypto experience (among other experiences) is limited to using Gemini exchange. Needless to say, gambling in New York isn't like gambling in more fun locations like Las Vegas. Rebo, or even Atlantic City.

I agree with you. The sound of coins dropping is very satisfying.

That's one of the reasons why I play Rising Star! :P

I am a firm supporter of Lucksacks Poker, though I do not play often like I used to do. I have actually hosted a couple of games, even one to promote Leo Finance!

Solid people and honest to a fault. I can not praise them enough.

I'm closing in on 200 HP. After I reach 300 HP I'll experiment with blockchain gaming. My head spins with the other games, so Lucksacks Poker may be more my speed.

It is free to play, a sort of HIVE faucet. The site is not on the HIVE blockchain but winners can pick up a little HIVE. Did I mention it is free to play?
