If you can't get away from sugar-- and I don't know anyone anywhere who can-- then at least make it work in your favor. Fruit snacks/smoothies/yogurt help you. Confectionary goods hurt you. Save the Twinkies for surviving a nuclear strike.

Yeah, I hear you. It's hard! It's like I'm compelled to go buy the stuff and binge on it. Next time I do that, I'll buy some frozen fruit and make a smoothie or something instead of buying a pint of ice cream.
