I live in Finland. As far as I know, the prices do not differ much or at all regardless of where in the country you live. The availability of the wireless 4G network covers 99.9% of all households.
Here's an interactive chart detailing the coverage of the 3G, 4G and 5G networks of one of the largest provider across the country:
I wanted to ask this because I was wondering if there will be a market for an Internet subscription via satellite (Starlink).
I checked the cheapest prices from this site:
https://www.halvinliittyma.fi/nettiliittyma/
It's an aggregator site that lists the cheapest services on the market:
"/kk" means per month. "Aloitusmaksu" means "initial fee".
Here's some detailed information about the top most in the list:
I'll translate the terms:
Mobile broadband 4G 100M
- Even 100 Mbit/s 4G mobile broadband without limit (rate limit 0,4 to 35Mbit/s in the 3G net and 5 to 100 Mbit/s in the 4G net)
- Unlimited data transfer domestically
- Data roaming abroad off by default and use abroad is billed according to a separate price list
- No calling
- Text messages €0.091 per message (€0.06 to Saunalahti subscribers)
- Multimedia message €0.192 per message
- You can cancel subscription at any time
- Price is valid for 12 months after which it will be €27.9 per month
- A 16 Gb/mo data package in EU/ETA countries included in the monthly price
It seems that the price was actually €23.9 per month and not €24.9 as on the aggregator site.
Otherwise similar specs to the cheapest option in the list but 10 to 1000 Mbit/s in the 5G network, 5-600 Mbit/s in the 4G network and 0.4-35 Mbit/s in the 3G network. Limitless internet use in the Nordic countries and the Baltic states.
Is this expensive or cheap by your local standards?
P.S. I doubt there will be much room Starlink in the countryside in Finland given the extent of the 4G and 5G network coverage. Some people may not want to deal with the local ISPs, for which reason they may opt for this. This is from an article on CNBC:

30€ a month for unlimited Internet data (speed around 400Mb/s, maybe higher) + telephone (local and lots of countries abroad) + television (at least 100+ channels)
Sounds like a great deal!
Indeed. It was an offer hard to pass by.
In Estonia, the cheapest unlimited 4G is by Tele2 - 21€ but some places, the Tele2 coverage is not as good as others recently.
But funny thing is Elisa is much more expensive in Estonia - 39€ for unlimited 4G and we don't even have 5G yet. When in Finland you get already 5G for the same price. That Starlink seems useless for Estonians for that price and speeds.

Starlink does not sound competitive even in rural areas at price it is offered.
We pay NZ$69 a month for this, and never use mobile data. That is from Vodafone NZ.
Speed is pretty good - I'd be interested to see how it compares to the speeds in other countries
47 USD. That's a pretty good price for the speed.
For me it is about $80 a month for Internet and $40 for phone.
I wonder if, when Starlink is all built out, we will start to see some "price wars" as companies try to steal customers from each other.

What's the maximum speed?
I live in Sweden and I pay 52 USD for this and 23 USD for my phone.

That's a pretty good speed and the latency is quite low.
Yeah, I don't complain. It works for everything I am doing, but I have noticed that I have a higher ping than many of my friends in online games though.

well i spend roughly $20 for 60gbs(limited) per month at internet speed not exceeding 25mbps...Crazy right? we pay so much for so little, it is crazy

I gather that the mobile internet boom is about 10 years old in Africa. With capital investment it's going to get cheaper.
My employer pays for my phone and our home internet. But my daughter's phone bills including her 4G mobile internet with 100 Mb/s is around $18 a month.
@taskmaster4450 mentioned price wars. They're very much a thing here. Every few months I get a call from an internet provider who wants to make me an offer. They ask me about my existing subscription and try and offer something cheaper. At shopping malls ISP and phone companies have people standing around and approaching people trying to sell them subscription plans. If you manage to avoid eye contact, they won't talk to you.
As if! Staring at the opposite direction and veering off as far as one can and they’ll still try and talk to me!
Some potential customers must look nicer to talk to than others. :)
Last time they gave out Tupla-bars so I didn’t mind for once, and I was already their customer so I just ran off with free candy 😁
I do like the humor of the Space X folks tho.
€7.99 for 300 mbps unlimited via fiber/optic cable. 0 ms latency to ISP

That's inexpensive and high quality!
