Here is the daily technology #threadcast for 8/15/24. We aim to educate people about this crucial area along with providing information of what is taking place.

Drop all question, comments, and articles relating to #technology and the future. The goal is make it a technology center.

Sort:

Fedi Combines Bitcoin, Other Freedom Tech and Community

https://x.com/i/spaces/1rmGPodrVojKN

Pretty interesting what I heard of it. Seems to be trending on X.COM.

#technology

It is refreshing to see some people in #crypto who are concerned about freedom and escape from tyranny as opposed just to having their coins pump.

Yes, technology is a very fast new life we have now, it's like water to a living soul. Embracing it whole heartedly will go a long way rebranding and revolutionalizing someone's entire life in a positive direction, in a jiffy.
#technology #revolusion

People will not really have a choice. Imagine being in the world today and not knowing how to use the Internet.

Waoh... 😂, that will be horrible.

That is how far behind people can get. It is also why we need to get involved with this in a way that we can leverage better than others.

Yes, you're quite right. I'm glad I'm here. Because in some interior places, many do not have any access to light or the Internet.

Anyhow, we will keep spreading the good news of hive web 3 and the necessity of more people becoming part of us, thank you.

It is all in how we embrace it ourselves. Then we can share it with others.

Yeah, it's happening already.

There is still no technology that would allow gardeners to get rid of weeds with minimal effort and without harming the soil. :) !VSC

I dont think this harms the soil.

Many useful microorganisms live in the upper layers of the soil, but they die with most methods of processing, both mechanical and chemical. !BEER

I was watching a video that discussed Grok and how if someone types in their X account name, it gives a good overview of their X activity.

That is something Khal has talked about for #leoai for a while.

Open source spreads much quicker and grows faster than proprietary once we pass a certain point. This is why open source #ai will quickly surpass what the companies are doing with their closed models.

That's true... I was reading the other day and there are some open source models that are already doing a damn good job. And it only gets better

Yep. We have to keep opening things up as much as we can. Giving more data and algos to the world is crucial. There is a big push to lock things down.

Does anyone know any Ai that can help with presentation preparation. Something that has to do with PowerPoint. I’ll need its help
#technology #artificialintelligence

I think Canva has that feature but it might be part of a paid plan

I’ll check it out. But if it’s paid I don’t think I’ll be able to use it cause I’m using the free version 😪

I tried some other free options I found on google but wasn't really happy with them. Also, most of the times they let you create the presentation for free but if you want to download it, they will force you to sign up for their paid plan.

But I hope you can find a good free one!

Thank you. I’ll try some more

Try chat.openai.com, claude.ai or meta.ai.

The prompt could go something like this:

I'm doing a powerpoint presentation on [topic X] and I need your help to prepare it. Particularly important in the presentation is to convey that [... something that's important for you to convey]. Suggest a sequencing and general setup of the powerpoint presentation

#promptideas #promtingtips #ai

Ok
Thank you so much 🫶🏽🫶🏽

I'd be happy to help out if you get stuck somewhere or can't get the results you're looking for. Feel free to tag me

Ok, I was able to use an AI called slidego
It worked out well but I could only save as pdf format. The issue now I converting PDF to powerpoint

ooh, nice. Yeah, PDF to powerpoint is probably gonna be difficult..

unless... do you need to change the slides? If not, you could simply drag each PDF-slide into its own slide in the powerpoint presentation

very true. I tried it one time and it worked but I was thinking it it won’t affect the PP. I wish I could just convert the PDF to PP.
maybe that’s what I’ll do
!BBH
!DOOK

@fashtioluwa likes your content! so I just sent 1 BBH(1/5)@mightpossibly! to your account on behalf of @fashtioluwa.

(html comment removed: )

I realize you maybe wanted the AI to actually design the slides. You can do that too using Microsoft Co-pilot, but for that you need to have access to powerpoint through a paid plan.

Seems everything has to do with a paid plan 😭😭😭

my first suggestion is free :)

A reminder: Tomorrow's episode of The Lion's Den will cover LLMs and #leoai.

What do you mean?

😱 AI model unexpectedly rewrites it‘s own code …

Imagine an AI so smart it tries to give itself more time to solve a problem—sounds like something out of a sci-fi movie, right? But that’s exactly what happened when Sakana AI unveiled their latest innovation, "The AI Scientist." Designed to conduct scientific research autonomously using advanced language models, the system surprised its creators by trying to rewrite its own experiment code to extend its working hours. While impressive, this unexpected behavior raises an important point: AI systems, no matter how advanced, shouldn't be allowed to operate independently without proper safeguards in place. The experiment is a stark reminder of the risks of unmonitored AI in non-isolated environments. For those curious, screenshots of the self-modifying code are available.

SOURCE

The future of communications and computing.

That is indeed a rendering of how it is planned to be. It is still a long way from this thight! Especially above the oceans and certain regions in Africa!

Yes it is a rendering.

Seeing this image makes me remember the beginning of the Starlink project where the first satellites went into orbit.

It's incredible to see how much is up there and that it's still going to rise a lot more.

I think it is a rendering. I do not believe it is a real image of what is there.

Yes I know, just looking at the image reminded me of that.

I still haven't been able to see the satellites with the naked eye, it seems that in some places at certain times it is possible to see them.

Yeah. There are a lot of people upset about it. Of course, they want the #Technology and use it.

People are funny.

Hey Task, would you go on a robotaxi when it comes out in the future?

Sure. We are going to be in autonomous vehicles at some point.

This is for @coyotelation.

Maybe he could get a robot as a babysitter.

Hahahaha... I liked that.

This model would be cooler if the robot was taller.

I would be able to buy a robot to help with chores at home.

In the future this will be quite common in the same way that people have Alexa today.

At some point. It will not be overnight. We might have another decade.

But it will have an impact.

Sadly I remember this.

It use to be hi-tech at one point.

Meet Black Forest Labs, the startup powering Elon Musk's unhinged AI image generator

Elon Musk's Grok released a new AI image-generation feature on Tuesday night that, just like the AI chatbot, has very few safeguards.

Elon Musk’s Grok released a new AI image-generation feature on Tuesday night that, just like the AI chatbot, has very few safeguards. That means you can generate fake images of Donald Trump smoking marijuana on the Joe Rogan show, for example, and upload it straight to the X platform. But it’s not really Elon Musk’s AI company powering the madness; rather, a new startup — Black Forest Labs — is the outfit behind the controversial feature.

Filmmakers say AI will change the art — perhaps beyond recognition

One of the first topics tackled was the impractical nature of today's video generators.

The latest generative models make for great demos, but are they really about to change how people make movies and TV? Not in the short term, according to filmmaking and VFX experts. But in the long term, the changes could be literally beyond our imagining.

Cockroach Labs shakes up its licensing to force bigger companies to pay

Cockroach Labs, the developer behind CockroachDB, is changing its licensing once again -- five years after abandoning open source.

The company revealed today that its consolidating its self-hosted product under a single enterprise license, a move designed to encourage larger businesses to step up and pay for the features they really need. All customers with more than $10 million in annual revenue will now have to pay, a fee that is based on the number of CPUs or CPU cores within the server system where the database is deployed — essentially, the bigger the database deployment, the bigger the cost.

Video of Eric Schmidt blaming remote work for Google's woes mysteriously vanishes

Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt, who has since moved on to greener and perhaps more dangerous pastures, told an audience of Stanford students recently that “Google decided that work-life balance and going home early and working from home was more important than winning.” Evidently this hot take was not for wider consumption, as Stanford — which posted the video this week on YouTube — today made the video of the event private.

FTC bans fake online reviews, inflated social media influence; rule takes effect in October

Amazon sued more than 10,000 Facebook group administrators in July 2022 for allegedly brokering fake reviews.

The Federal Trade Commission on Wednesday voted unanimously to ban marketers from using fake reviews, such as those generated with AI technology, and other misleading practices to promote their products and services.

All five FTC commissioners voted to adopt the final rule, which will go into effect 60 days after it is published in the Federal Register, the government's official catalog of rules and notices.

I've been reading and watching a lot of content about digital accessibility (A11Y). It's gonna be very important for my area of work going forward and I want to stay ahead of the curve

#technology #accessibility #a11y

What do you mean by digital accessibility?

Making websites and digital products accessible to people with different kinds of disabilities. Currently, it's very hard for some people to be included in the digital revolution

My question is what role do websites have in the future? If we are going to get our information from Chatbots and agents, are website going to be prevalent.

It's not restricted to websites. We will still have some sort of user interface for a long time no matter what kind of product we are talking about. Maybe when everything is directly integrated in our brains that won't be a necessity but we have a long way before that's the norm.

LOL yes it wont be the norm for a while.

I can see the interaction with agents being similar.

The results of Grok from testing seems to be that it is something that is standing up to others.

What will Grok 3.0 be like? There is a lot of excitement around ChatGPT 5.0. This is where I believe we enter the elbow of exponential growth curve. The power will be incredible.

Estimated Economic Impact of General Purpose Technologies

I love #infographics. Summarizes things for those with #ADHD type personalities. It is catching in today's society too! A lot of the #tech today has contributed to short attention spans I believe.

It is a way to consume info in a quick period of time while provide an eagle's view of what is taking place.

I agree. I wish I was better at creating them.

For now, I will just have to be content with pulling them from other sites.

Odd how the embedded doesnt work on threadcasts. I had one that did the same thing.

Some boost tonight 😂😂

LOL good job. did you see the numbers so far for the month?

I haven't seen it... But I know that it should be more than what we thought.

Here are the total numbers for the last 3 months (and where we stand as of a couple days ago).

https://inleo.io/threads/view/taskmaster4450le/re-khaleelkazi-2jp3wesxd

We will definitely get it there..

They are increasing. If we can hit the number and get shorts along with a dedicated page. perhaps we can get to 150K next month.
