'sub-reddits' are what hive communities are originally based on. i didn't really understand 'sub-reddit' when i first joined reddit - because it doesn't really describe what the thing is.. unless you start defining reddit as a noun
I still dont get sub reddits but then I dont spend any time there.
But yeah names can be confusing and misleading. The Hive name wasnt really thought out and certainly nobody who was involved did a web search. A couple clicks would have revealed a great deal.
There were people doing the due dilligence, like myself. I didn't actually find that blockchain company - they must have had poor SEO at the time - but it was abundantly clear that Hive was a bad choice from an SEO pov. I was shouted down.
I don't even look any more as there are always going to be other sites that dominate the keyword - at least while Hive isn't audited and improved across the board from an SEO standpoint. Even then it's unlikely to rank for 'Hive' itself

There is the apache app Hive. They tend to dominate the rankings. All the major tech sites have something about it.

I drilled down one day. Hive. io or something ranked like 42nd. It was way down there, far enough that nobody (other than me) will ever see it.
