Will you consider renting in the college neighborhood rather than renewing your rent? It may likely be expensive renting again, based on the initial cost of rent, but I think it will be better.

At the end of November, the lease ends and graduation ends. Then I'll go back to my hometown of 70,000 population. Everything much closer.

That is a lot of travel time and I don't think I can imagine that in my own life. I guess I am spoiled by the car and everything being close by.
I have a car, but gasoline in Brazil is expensive, even though my car is economical.
With the car it takes between 40 minutes and 1 hour, by bus 1 hour and 30 minutes.
With the car I spend 22 BRL to go and come back, by bus 12 BRL.
It's the price of convenience. In the US, I am just so used to driving and most people here also do that. I don't know many people that use the bus outside of the bigger cities.

Only on Fridays, on other days only 3 hours.
There are 3 buses, 1 in front of my house to the terminal, another to the terminal in the other neighborhood and finally one from the terminal to the college.
And to return the reverse path.
