I decided to attack the weekend but in a super passive way because it seemed the right thing to do given the totally fucked up sub-optimal week I've had. Some might think, what, yet another shit week? Yep, believe it or not that's been the case; I thought life was meant to get easier the harder one worked, apparently not though. Anyway, that's how life goes I guess and subsequently I've planned to attack the weekend with a strong focus on doing it passively; if such a juxtaposition is even possible.
What I mean by a passive attack on the weekend is basically I'm going to do not much at all and relax as much as possible, but be passionate about that - I suppose if one is going to do something they might as well be passionate about it right?
Attack bacon and books
Bacon and eggs with coffee kicked it off and the making of that breakfast was quite passive, almost like I didn't do anything at all...ok, I actually didn't do anything at all because my girl made it for me and we sat outside in the early morning eating and chatting and planning the rest of our passive attack on the weekend. We stayed there until early-mid morning when I moved on to the next phase of the attack which was book reading.
Attack snooze
An afternoon nap occurred in, usurpingly, the afternoon and I have to say that snoozing while swinging slightly in my hammock with the birds chirping away in my garden and breathing in some fresh air was quite rejuvenating - That particular passive attack-snooze was well-needed I think.
Attack BBQ and chess
Later it's a BBQ for dinner, yeah yeah, I do this a lot I guess so it might not seem all that special but with the weather we've been having and considering we're coming into the cooler winter weather, it seems like the right thing to do. I'm deploying my BBQ attack with steak, chorizo and a green salad and afterwards world war three will begin as I've challenged my girl to some chess which we'll combine with coffee and cheesecake.
Attack outing
On Sunday I'm cooking breakfast...nah, fuck that, we're going to meet another couple at a cafe for breakfast; a long overdue catch up. I worked with this chap many years ago and we went through a lot together so have stayed in pretty close contact. They've just moved from interstate to my location for a year of work so I'm really looking forward to seeing him and his wife again and the next year of catch ups that will happen.
Attack snooze part two
I'll probably feel like another snooze in my hammock later on and if I don't I'll force myself to want one and I think I'll spend the rest of Sunday afternoon doing that and listening to music and chatting with my girl. And then it'll be dinner and, dare I say it...the next day is fucken Monday. (I'm not so pleased about that but it is what it is.
passive attackBelow are a few tracks for the #saturdayselections tag in the weekend experiences community, one's I've listened to today, and above is some of what I'll be doing on my on the weekend. How about you? What's up? If you want to share what your weekend is all about and some tracks do so in this community and tag it #saturdayselections as well.

No hammock or restful weekend for yours truly. I've been away all week tending the indisposed only to return last night to a house full of chores. I'll be thinking of you as I scrub, curse, moan and watch the rain cascading down. To quote Marvin, the Paranoid Android; 'Life, loathe it or ignore it, you just can't like it':)
Oh no, that's terrible. I reckon you'd have more fun in my hammock...but I guess chores have to be done. (I'm ignoring mine this weekend though.)
I say there ought to be a country song titled 'Another Shit Week' 😂..most of us have them every so often, but two in a row?? Nobody should be subjected to such abuse! It's a good thing you have your girl there to ease your suffering😉
Last night my phone gave up the ghost but not before it scared the shit out of me by getting so hot it smelled like something was on fire. I took it outside on the driveway and covered it with a cast iron pot in case it caught fire😂 Consequently, I spent some time this morning at the phone store then came home and worked outside until now. I have showered and eaten dinner and now will watch the bike races in a bit...done deal for today. Tomorrow is open with no plans as of yet. I may have a a 'super passive day' as well!
Yeah, I'm dealing with the shit work weeks tomorrow. I prefer to be decisive so that's what I'll be.
Your phone situation doesn't sound good. I heard a while back that some Samsung models were igniting, some years ago now. I was using iPhones at the time but now I use Samsung. (Hate iPhones). Mine gets somewhat hot when charging but otherwise seems ok. Hopefully your new phone doesn't do the same as the last.
Enjoy the bikes and super-passive-sunday when it arrives.
Yep, was a Samsung. It was several years old and I was due. I also despise iPhone and Apple in general so another Samsung it is. Now to get the damned thing arranged so I can find things again. Maybe that's what I'll do tomorrow lol. Enjoy your day!
We're like the Samsung
sistersummbrothersumm Samsung people. LolIv been happy with the last three I've had and if it was a choice of burning my ass off because my Samsung caught fire in my jeans or having an iPhone...well, I'd rather my ass burned off.
lol same!
Me when my ass burns off because my Samsung phone blew up.
A Song for Your Shit Week...
Good one! I had forgotten about that one lol
Attack Bacon would be a good name for a breed of savage pigs :OD
I envy you, not the shit week but the relaxing weekend. I have to drive up north and meet the in laws for the firs time in a while. Stubby bunch of gnomes that they are
I believe attack bacon is what Looney Tunes was going to call the Porky Pig character in their cartoons originally. They went with the other option though, and I reckon they fucked up.
Up north to gnome town huh? Ye gods, will you survive it?
They did fuck up!
Lol, I will survive, but shall they survive the hand of
justinjustice!Methinks they shall only barely survive.
Barely is the word. I want through them like poorly cooked chicken 🤣🤣
That's the Boomy I know. 🤣
Hehe, now I just need to escape tomorrow! 🤣🤣
Sounds like a great plan!
I dubbed last weekend "no chore" weekend and besides my visit to Mom's last Sunday, I played like I didn't have a smidge of responsibility for anything! It was fun.
I did some things in the evenings after work this past week. I have several sorting and organizing projects I want and need to do, so hopefully I'll work on one or two of those, I actually already started one this evening, barely, but dragging everything out gets it started and then for the decisions about what stays and goes. It's busy work, but I still kind of enjoy doing it. Things will be better when one day they are all finally done.
I've been playing at my art table for a little while. Tomorrow will see a grocery order coming in the morning, but other than that, probably work on those projects mostly and get a little food ready for Sunday. My brother's birthday is the 31st, so Mom is cooking his birthday lunch and we sisters are contributing parts. It is always fun getting so spend some time with the sibs, so I'm looking forward to that.
Me likey no chore weekends. Well done! (This weekend is a little like that for me.
It sounds like you've got a couple decent days ahead of you and I hope you attack them with vigour and passion. :)
I couldn't believe myself when I first thought of the "no chore" weekend idea. I didn't really want to do anything...LOL... and then I gave myself permission not too! It felt kind of wrong for a little while, but then it was great!
I forgot that you talked about bacon. After I got off of work and got into the kitchen to see what my supper would be, bacon wasn't part of the prior thoughts, but as I was scouring the frig, I found a whole pack of bacon that indicated tomorrow (now today) was the last day before it's expiration, so I cooked the WHOLE pack! I ate some with supper but most is in the frig and I'm sure it will be part of my breakfast. It will last more than a day now that I've cooked it. Yum !
I think it's important to allow ourselves a little slack now and then, it's sort of like self care I guess. As long as the important things are done we can always catch up on the lesser things. Finding self time, realising we need it, shouldn't make us feel guilty.
What now? A whole pack of bacon? Dang it, that's legit. ✅
It kind of made me laugh to cook the whole pack, but I didn't want to lose it.
I know it is important to take time out, it just felt funny to apply it to the whole weekend. A day? Sure! ...The whole weekend? ... That was a luxury I don't regret.
For me, this is a perfect weekend, tranquility, hammock, birds, girlfriend, barbecue.... Uff I wouldn't want anything else.
And by the way, you look very handsome and stylish in that picture 😉
I agree, it's a good way to spend a weekend. I like to do things, activities I mean, but also there needs to be time for relaxing and passive weekend like I'm having.
Thank you, I appreciate your comment and nice remarks. ☺️
Sounds like a pretty great weekend! I am going to take it easy as well. Actually, We have had family in town all last week and this weekend too, so we will likely be spending even more time with them. I'm actually looking forward to it.
Taking it easy and spending time with family seems like a good mix for any weekend. Enjoy.
A relaxed, appropriate and necessary weekend is very appropriate and I am glad it is so, especially to enjoy this time before winter. It gives the mind a lot of rest.
Here after two weeks of rain the sun comes out and the days are beautiful, at the moment it is 20 degrees, ideal!!!
Have a nice weekend and keep up the good music!
20 degrees with some sunshine sounds pretty good, I hope you make the most of it.
I will!!! Relax a lot!
Oh man that is how I attacked last weekend. A tough week (not necessarily suboptimal) and a blessed lack of obligations led to sleeping in, napping and extra time wandering aimlessly in the dog park with my little buddy.
Lean into it and recharge with the sloth of it all! It is not wasted time. It is downtime which is a blessing of sorts.
Thats a good weekend!
We all need to embrace our inner sloth sometimes don't you think?
This sounds like the perfect, laid-back weekend strategy, like good food, great company, and a slow, intentional approach to enjoying the day, and there is something special about a morning that starts with bacon, eggs, and coffee, especially when it’s made with love.😍
I agree with you, it was a good strategy and I'm glad it worked out exactly as planned.
I love that you are always working and often write about how you have achieved your goals. You are a man who allows himself to do well at work and at home, because you also give a lot of importance to your family.
I imagine that after so much activity it is a little strange when weekends like this come, but as the long days come back try to enjoy this, the music, your friends, your wife and your hammock. It happens to me too, my job has very strong seasons and then several days in a row where it seems like quarantine again hahaha... Rest my friend, you also have Hive to distract you and fucken Monday is just around the corner 😅
Thank you. I think it comes down to ownership or my life generally, I always want to Dona good job if it, the best I can, and that means mlwork or personal. I don't always achieve it but I try.
I hope you have a good weekend, I'm certainly trying to.
Great Read thru bro. Just shared it together while on a short drive to play the lottery and grab a DQ dip cone...

Lol...that photo! A good thing one of you is watching the road.
Funny thing is...
I was Driving!!
juss kidding, 4400 miles in 10 days was plenty!
Haha!
Well at the weekend is for resting and have a break from a whole week work. But sometimes I feel weekend comes and fly much faster 🙃
Weekends feel like they go fast I guess, two days is longer than the working week of five days, so it makes sense I suppose.
Well I have only single day for rest and 6 days for work 🙂🙂
