Community PUD: +450 HP for HivePUD on 1 September 2020

in The Man Cave4 years ago (edited)

Since announcing I was powering "down and out" on the Steem blockchain, I have had some "macro" trading success with those revenues. Now safely stored in my Hive wallet, today seems like a good day to Power Up some of it on our Hive blockchain!

HivePUD for May 2020Source: Based on @streetstyle's post on

Power-Up Day) "movement" a long time ago and carried it forward, through the creation of the Hive blockchain, to the referenced post above for the HivePUD of May 1st. There has always been a monthly contest associated with it, to encourage participation.@streetstyle began the PUD (

Getting right to it, here is my September Power-Up executed a short time ago:

wallet and HivePUD transaction on HiveBlocksSource: @roleerob's PeakD

This represents a Hive Power increase of 3%. And ...

Source: @roleerob's Hive Power-Up Calc Sheet

For the 3rd quarter of 2020, I have powered up a total of +3,500 Hive, which represents a Hive Power increase of 30% from July 1st. Not too bad!

While September's power-up % increase wasn't as large as the previous months, that is very intentional. I have learned this quarter to "keep some powder dry," for whatever opportunities may arise in other tokens linked to our Hive blockchain. For example, the recent announcement re: wLEO is very exciting. With HIVE pretty stagnant, my LEO tokens increased substantially in value on the basis of it!

So ... Am I eligible for a HivePUD prize? Let's see ... 👀

Eligibility rules:

  1. Reputation score less than 70 👍 🙂
  2. Reputation score greater than 39 👍 🙂
  3. Power Up HIVE on 1 September 2020 👍 🙂
  4. Post about your HivePUD on 1 September 2020, with the tag #hivepud 👍 🙂
  5. More than 100 Hive Power but less than 8,000 Hive Power 👎 👋

Ohhh well ... I met this last requirement, as well, until converting STEEM to HIVE. But, that is okay. This contest is to encourage members of our community to join in doing their small parts to collectively help add value overall to our Hive blockchain.

And also to create a thriving "middle class" on it! 👍

@traciyork has been thoughtful enough, for the sake of the Hive blockchain, to keep this contest going, in the absence of @streetstyle. This month she has been joined by the very capable @victoriabsb, in support of the Spanish-speaking member of our Hive blockchain!

  • Note: Traci explains here

what little she knows of the absence of @streetstyle of late.

This month's announcement posts, with prize details:

  • English: Here is Traci's official September HivePUD post published earlier.

  • Spanish: Here is Victoria's official September HivePUD post published earlier.

Thanks for your efforts in doing this ladies!

Joining the PUD fun in August was @hivebuzz, a well-known project created by @arcange. Their introduction of a new HivePUD badge created some serious "buzz!" 🙂👍

Given the warm reception of their efforts, this month, as explained here, the HiveBuzz team is expanding their efforts to support and encourage HivePUD participants! Please read their post for all of the details.

Hive Power Up Day - Let's grow together! Source: @HiveBuzz post on

Here is an example of their newly created "Challenges" tab:

HiveBuzz! Source: @roleerob's Challenges Tab on

You too can be a "buff bee!" 😂 The requirements for getting this badge are much simpler than those above:

  1. Just pump power-up HIVE on the 1st day of September!

    IMPORTANT:
HiveBuzz will use UTC date and time to validate when you powered-up. Therefore, check your timezone and convert your local time to UTC before powering up!

  2. Power-up at least 10 HIVE. This will entitle you to the smallest power-bee. The more HIVE you power up, the bigger your power-bee!

Thank you for all of your hard work on this Hive Buzz team. Great stuff!

  • Witness votes. We want to keep him in the Top 20!Encouragement: If you agree, dear reader, I would highly recommend your consideration of @arcange for one of your all-important

So with that, for another month I have done my small part, along with many of you, to help our Hive blockchain along on its merry way.

Let's all look forward to what will soon be coming in Hard Fork 24! The details sound promising. And who knows, maybe then the long-promised wonders and benefits of SMTs will not be too far behind?

Until "next time," all the best to you for a better tomorrow, as we all work together to build up our Hive Communities and add increasing value to our Hive blockchain! 👍 😊

Nice, I'm trying to get to 10k, slowly getting there as my Steem powers down and trying to get 10k Leo too.. hopefully in a few weeks. I have missed power up day but I've just been powering up anyways. I'm just getting back to the site so thanks for the info. You are appreciated! I will power up some in the morning. The little I have not powered up anyways.

"Nice, I'm trying to get to 10k, slowly getting there as my Steem powers down and trying to get 10k Leo too.."

Thanks for stopping by @drpuffnstuff and letting me know. Both are great goals to have. Lots of opportunity with both Hive, as well as some of these so-called "second layer" tokens.

I wish you well on your "reentry" into participating here in adding value to our Hive blockchain. If there is any way I can help you with any questions or anything, please feel free to ask.

Koreans do Steemit to make money with virtual currency as a speculative product.Dear @roleerob, I don't know about American capitalism and the stock market, so it's hard to understand your writing. I am not familiar with the purpose and profits of the establishment of the Hive blockchain. Why was the Hive blockchain born?

The Hive blockchain is not well known in Korea.

Hmmm. You surprise me @silvergrifin007 ...

"Why was the Hive blockchain born?"

... as you were "in here," when Justin Sun appeared on the scene, on the Steem blockchain. What part of all that transpired afterwards is confusing to you? As always, I'll do what I can to clear it up.

Congratulations @roleerob! You received a personal badge!

You powered-up at least 100 HP on Hive Power Up Day! This entitles you to a level 3 badge
Participate in the next Power Up Day and try to power-up more HIVE to get a bigger Power-Bee.
May the Hive Power be with you!

Excellent. Thank you very much! 🙂

You're welcome @roleerob👍 Thanks for participating at the event! 🐝🐝🐝

Excellent, Steve! I should probably also do a spreadsheet and a proper review of my account has grown! As I keep on saying, I really only started paying attention thanks to @streetstyle and his power up day initiative.

Yes, @fionasfavourites ...

"... also do a spreadsheet and a proper review of my account has grown!"

... you might consider it, if that would have some value. Now retired, it is just a bit of a "holdover" from how I long worked to stay on top of what was going on. Specifically, with a "numbers don't lie" approach to it ...

"... I really only started paying attention thanks to @streetstyle and his power up day initiative."

The same is true for me, although I am a "late comer." For a lot of reasons I won't bore you with ... 😉

Thanks for stopping by. Hope all is well for you and yours in your beloved country!

I am so embarrassed. I called you Steve....

I'm a bit of a words girl, rather than numbers, letting things happen organically, although my pal, @nickyhavey disapproves and would prefer I had a spreadsheet.... I might just when things get really serious. FTM, I think I'll just...feel my way...as John Travolta said...(I think) 🙃

Yes, Fiona, well of course ...

I am so embarrassed. I called you Steve....

... this did not escape my notice. But, no point in drawing your attention to it, as no harm done! 🙂 My name has never been put into any content on this blockchain, so one name is as good as another ... 😉

IMHO, we should all be free to proceed as seems best to us. Each doing what they do best will hopefully produce the greatest overall benefit - an increase in value of our HIVE tokens! 👍

one name is as good as another ...

Well, in 3D life, I'm also known as Gladys...and... lol

I could not agree more. See you around the hive 😀

Yes I can vouch for the "words" part 😜

Ahem....thank you. I think. 🤣

That's a spectacular rise!!! Wow!
I've never entered these initiatives, I simply power up a bit every day! 😆

Keep up with the good work!

"I've never entered these initiatives, ..."

I am a latecomer to them myself. For lots of reasons, I have participated some recently, with my power-down revenues from the Steem blockchain. One thing I have recently become enlightened by is the value of keeping some HIVE available, so ... Not sure how much or how seriously I will be participating in the future. We'll see, as every day is a "new adventure!" 😉

Thanks for stopping by. I hope all is well with you and yours, in your corner of the world.

P.S. We're getting to be "dinosaurs" my friend. Another one of our key PIFC team members appears to have given up ...

We're getting to be "dinosaurs" my friend. Another one of our key PIFC team members appears to have given up ...

Who...?

Macoolette. She had gained a stake greater than yours and mine combined. Now being powered "down and out" ...

Oh, I wonder why...? 🙄
She was on the right track.

🤷‍♂ I suspect it has to do with her country's response to COVID-19. And, from there, the likely impact on her and her loved ones. Pure speculation ...

Maybe she'll come back one day and let us know. Since she is powering "down and out," though, that is not a good indicator ...

That's really a shame. She didn't post every day but when she did she always made such great articles!

With the news of the pending creation of the Hive blockchain, about 72 hours in advance of carrying it out, I bought some additional Steem and moved it into my wallet. A "macro" move was underway! My intention was to turn around and sell it, on the "other side" of the hard fork. To try and recoup some of my investment losses incurred by the "bright idea" of owning Steem in the first place ...

Good News: It worked pretty well, although I had not factored in the time delay of getting the new blockchain up and running and its effect on Steem. As a result, there was an unavoidable several-hour delay, during which time I watched the price change a lot (against me ...).

Bad News: Finally getting my Steem transferred to my Bittrex account, I was stunned to realize, in my inexperience, that Bittrex was also impacted by the hard fork! A "rookie" noob mistake ... And another week went by, while I waited ...

I want to know how Justin Sun bought Steemit, and how he controls and censors the press and public opinion. Did Justin Sun give money to Steemit users and buy Steemit?

I don't know the relationship between Steemit and Hive. I've seen you write about how you can earn money by moving Steemit's tokens to Hive.
I didn't understand what you wrote. Please understand that my English is at the level of elementary school students in America.

Have you written how to invest in stocks?

"I want to know how Justin Sun bought Steemit, and how he controls and censors the press and public opinion. Did Justin Sun give money to Steemit users and buy Steemit?"

Justin Sun purchased the STEEM stake of SteemIt, Inc., the company which owned by far the largest single stake on the Steem blockchain. With it, he had the voting power to put his own Witnesses in control of it. Far more to the story than this, but ... This was the starting point.

"I don't know the relationship between Steemit and Hive."

The "old guard" Witnesses of the Steem blockchain, led by BlockTrades, decided they would simply start their own blockchain, instead of continuing their "war" with Justin Sun.

  • Note: In this "war," a number of prominent Korean stakeholders attempted to "control" the outcome. They failed. As a consequence, they were not allowed to participate in the initial Hive token airdrop. So ... As far as I know (I am no longer participating there ...), they are still active on the Steem blockchain, making who knows what "deal" with Justin Sun ...

"I've seen you write about how you can earn money by moving Steemit's tokens to Hive."

I powered down almost all (I have a tiny bit left there, to support commenting ...) of my STEEM stake. In the volatility of the markets, in exchanging STEEM for HIVE, one can either make some money or lose money. I did okay ...

"Have you written how to invest in stocks?"

Nope.

Hope this helps you!

Do you mean that Justin Sun pays his witnesses to manipulate and control the press and information?

The "old guard" Witnesses of the Steem blockchain, led by BlockTrades, decided they would simply start their own blockchain, instead of continuing their "war" with Justin Sun.

Does that mean BlockTrades created the Hive blockchain when Justin Sun bought Steemit?

You are right. Many Koreans view Steemit as simply a means of making money. Koreans think they are discriminated against on Steemit compared to Westerners. In particular, there are many complaints about Steemit's share distribution.
They believed that Justin Sun would give them an equal share of the Westerners.

Unfortunately, they are not interested in or understand the decentralization pursued by the Hive blockchain. Koreans want to make money by running their own closed community rather than talking to you. They want more money than to be friends of @roleerob, king of the Rocky Mountains.

I don't know more about cryptocurrencies than elementary school students in America. ahahaha!@roleerob, When you're free, please teach me how to monetize, buy or sell Hive tokens. I don't know how to transfer Steemit tokens to Hive.

"Do you mean that Justin Sun pays his witnesses to manipulate and control the press and information?"

His control is limited to complete domination of the Steem blockchain, as his stake is far and away the largest. All others combined do not equal his ... As far as the press, etc. outside the Steem blockchain, we can both assume he does what he can to influence them to be biased toward whatever he wants them to believe ... Control though? He is not that rich ...

"Does that mean BlockTrades created the Hive blockchain when Justin Sun bought Steemit?"

No, when the "war" with Justin Sun was going into its 2nd month, with no prospect of it ending ... BlockTrades led others to just "dump" the Steem blockchain instead and start over, with their own new blockchain.

Getting your funds back and forth between the Steem and Hive blockchains can be accomplished with @swap.app. There are other alternatives, but this is the most straightforward and the one I used. Here is a link to that app and posts written about how to use it - https://peakd.com/@swap.app/posts

Beyond that, buying and selling HIVE tokens or any other crypto begins with exchanging whatever Korean funds you may wish to invest into crypto. Is that what you are asking for help with, as well?

Dear senior @roleerob, i thank for your advice!

Beyond that, buying and selling HIVE tokens or any other crypto begins with exchanging whatever Korean funds you may wish to invest into crypto. Is that what you are asking for help with, as well?

I am ashamed, but I do not know the concept and usage of cryptocurrency and blockchain.
I don't even know how to buy and sell cryptocurrency in Korean funds and markets.
So, I read what you wrote about tokens and monetization, but I didn't understand. As you said, I don't know how to trade cryptocurrency in Korean funds and markets.

From your point of view, I am at the level of a primitive man. ahahaha

"I am ashamed ... "

Hmmm. I hoped it is not due to anything I have said, as I do not understand why you would say this. My limited understanding of southeast Asian culture, though, would indicate to me this is very important to you. If I have offended you in some way, please feel free to let me know.

"... but I do not know the concept and usage of cryptocurrency and blockchain.

From my cultural perspective, this is pretty simple. You have just not chosen to invest the time into learning about it. No one can be proficient doing anything until they have invested the necessary time and effort.

I have always been willing to help you. You have asked for help. If you want to move forward, I am still willing to help you. Just let me know and we'll take it step-by-step.

My only caveat in this offer is I do not want to be responsible for whatever my happen with any money you would choose to invest. You need to understand "going in" that the crypto markets are very volatile. Probably not a good place for anyone faint-hearted to venture ... Even then, the best advice is just not invest more than you can afford to lose ...

Only you can say whether this is a good idea for you to proceed with or not. Let me know!

People living in East Asian culture think that many questions are actions that reveal their ignorance. So, East Asians don't ask questions to others even when they have questions.Dear @roleerob, I am grateful for your kind advice. Please understand that I am not good at English and I am not familiar with American culture.

From my cultural perspective, this is pretty simple. You have just not chosen to invest the time into learning about it. No one can be proficient doing anything until they have invested the necessary time and effort.

You are right! However, Koreans use virtual currency and blockchain only for speculative purposes. On the other hand, you use virtual currency and blockchain to prevent centralization. So, I read your articles, but it was hard to understand because of my poor English skills.

I have always been willing to help you. You have asked for help. If you want to move forward, I am still willing to help you. Just let me know and we'll take it step-by-step.

I agree with you! Many Koreans simply use virtual currency for speculation. They only told me how to make money using cryptocurrency. However, you insisted on using cryptocurrency and blockchain to prevent centralization.
Rather than making money using cryptocurrency, I want to know if your claim applies to reality.

I wanted to know if @roleerob's argument could apply to reality.
