Superstitious Beliefs - Real or not?
So many childhood memories come to mind whenever I think of superstitious beliefs. I remember my mother reprimanding me each time I sang at night. She always said the devil will steal my voice. I was so scared that each time she reminded me, I didn't even want to talk anymore that night.
Another was sweeping at night. It was said that it means you are sweeping away your luck. As children, one will obviously be scared. However, once you grow up, you start questioning the validity of such statements?
How exactly do you sweep your good luck out when you sweep at night? It sounds unreasonable when you think about it very well. And there is a saying, what you believe is what is is. Meaning that if you believe in something, it will happen.
Many people who appear to be “modern” have this way of thinking. If I don't believe in it, it is not real and will not happen. And they are content.
I used to have this thinking once I had grown to be 19 years old. But despite this belief, I still subconsciously avoid sweeping or singing at night, and all other things we were told to avoid as children. Why? I really don’t know.
Still looking for answers,

The old members of my family were also very strict with those superstitious beliefs. Even though you don't believe in those anymore I think you still subconsciously follow them because you respect the belief of your mother
