Morning Run: Wet air/hair

in EXHAUST3 years ago

I just finished a 12.978km running that lasted about 1hh:15mm:33ss !

It was misty out today and fairly cold, so I opted for long sleeves. My new Allbirds shoes kept my feet dry as I walked across the wet lawn that is getting a bit long, but I am loath to cut it again this year.

I decided to do the usual loop and see how I felt about extending it. The paths were damp with lots of wet leaves, but my shoes did not slip. I did the lap of Fairfield with fairly good pace up the hill. I saw a few other runners up there and overtook a couple before heading towards Stotfold. I stopped to take a photo of the graffiti covered underpass. Then I headed around the new estate.

I saw either two Tesla cars or the same one twice. They can actually be as loud as a normal car just from the tyre noise, but that will depend on the speed. With my bone conduction headphones I am fairly aware of sounds around me.

For a change I came back down Regent Street and got a new PR there, but then I have not run that segment very often. I was tiring a bit by then, but kept running back to Arlesey where I took some back streets. It was generally pretty quiet out there, but then it was a very nice morning really. The hardy dog walkers will be out every day, but some people just seemed to be out for a walk anyway. By the time I got home my hair was wet even though it was not raining. I did get some drips from the trees, but it was mostly just the moisture hanging in the air.

I did not feel too cold, but I was glad of a hot shower and some coffee.

Enjoy your Sunday. Run free and stay well.

Nice consistent pace. I'm sure I have asked you this before but do you look at your pace while you are running on a watch of some sort or do you just "know" your own pace from having been involved in running for so long?

I do it by feel really, but then I can check my watch if I want. I try to keep it at least under 6min/km. 5:50 is usually a comfortable pace, but I'd like to be a bit quicker than that.

It was a very good alternative for the weekend, by the way, the graffiti on the bridge seems to be very lonely.

Which car do you drive?

We have an old Honda CRV and a Peugeot 207. They are just transport. I'm not really into cars and don't drive much these days anyway. Did my share driving into London for years.

I'm sure you'd love a boat.. The open sea is quite wonderful. I'm sure you've tried it

I've been in a few boats, but I'm happier on land.

Where are you from?

Uhm... I'm trying hard not to disclose anything about me. Hope you don't mind.

Not a problem. We get to chose what we reveal on Hive :)
