Hi, how are you... shall we have breakfast?

in Daily Blog3 months ago

I like to create these Masterchef breakfasts where the contestants are ingredients 1, 2 and 3.

1 - A slice of avocado (((generous))) don't skimp.
2 - The picadillo (mincemeat) or whatever the main course was the night before in your dinner.
3 - Our daily bread

This last and Very Important Contestant (VIC) of today's programme is the bread, which is part of the basic standard basket, i.e. every soul in this country receives a daily loaf of bread under these conditions.

It is small as you can notice... we must stay slim. Overfeeding is not necessary. 🤓

This picture is manipulated to make the model look good and the next one is artistic.

IMG_20240816_130152.jpg

I have to explain to you that bread has an intrinsic quality of dehydrating in a very short time, in the blink of an eye to be more precise. So the aforementioned VIC gets hard, very hard, and even with a sledgehammer, you can't intimidate it. I tried to cut it into slices, but the knife got nicked, which is why the slices are so... irregular. Next time I'll use the electric tree pruning saw. 🤣

IMG_20240816_115240.jpg

Look, I put it in a frying pan with some oil to make toast. I got distracted and they burnt a bit. Cuando el mal es de...🤐, no valen guayabas verdes (when the evil is of..., green guavas are worthless) By the way, I had a ripe guava too, but this is consumed before the preparation of the Masterchef breakfast.

IMG_20240816_115159.jpg IMG_20240816_115422.jpg IMG_20240816_115645.jpg

Preparation - Mash the avocado and mix with your leftovers from the night before. Add whatever you have, basil, cheese, onion... garlic. Whatever you prefer. In this case I just mashed and mixed, because the picadillo (🙄 el mincemeat) was delicious and salty. I'm in love because the food I cook always comes out salty. That's what they say happens when you fall in love. 🤷‍♀

Ok, but the post is not about food.

Although let me show you how this turned out in the end, and who was showing all over her face how delicious it was.

IMG_20240816_120104.jpg

You see, I accompanied it with pistachios that my sister sent me from... la Yunai. Hahaha... from the USA. But if you don't have this exotic thing, you have other nuts to go with this. Be creative. Peanuts, pumpkin or sunflower seeds. With pumpkin seeds, you take advantage and get rid of parasites. 😁

Guess who is the professional taster here?

IMG_20240816_121118.jpg

😃

Yes, my words so far exude a certain amount of criticism. I know that. However, I want to convey a message that you may not have seen beneath all this that I have presented. This for me is a good breakfast. Acceptable and nutritious. This and a cup of coffee satisfies me. In the days to come I will continue to share my masterchef breakfast creations.

Ok, al grano. O to the point, o whatever...

I wanted to tell you what's going on with me. I don't know if I should cycle alone to Baracoa, a coastal village in the municipality of Bauta, to the west of Havana. It happens that I was invited to a photo safari in which I would like to participate and also stay in Baracoa from Saturday to Sunday. I have to say that I have many good memories of that place, where I lived during my studies at the University.

It could be really nice.

Baracoa, May 19th, 2024.

That time, when I cycled, I visited the place where I lived. There was nothing left of the old wooden house. But I took the photo and also of the street, where it was located.

4555511.jpg

I could almost see myself there and the house... it was very emotional.

IMG_20240519_151003.jpg

The street.

IMG_20240519_150910.jpg

The house next door and in the photo below, the next one.

IMG_20240519_150821.jpg

The neighbourhood was very changed and I didn't recognise anyone there. 🙂

In the first street parallel to the beach, I also saw many new things, new businesses. And the dock, where I would go for a swim very early in the morning, just a few steps from the house.

IMG_20240519_115753.jpg

I love the idea of riding my bike there. I already shared here that first feat, which I suppose is a trifle today, because I feel more prepared.

The thing is that from here, from my house to Santa Fe, todo es fresa (everything is strawberry), but between Santa Fe and Baracoa, along the Panamerican Highway, I would not like to cycle alone.

How this pisses me off this situation! Not being able to do what I want to do. With so many shortages and problems that we have, people become unscrupulous. Since we have been like this for so long, the situation is not improving. Cycling in uncrowded places is not smart. I have to be careful.

I examine my options.

Going to Baracoa by public transport... I don't want to, no. 😖 I'm almost having a tantrum, like the ones I used to have as a child.

My idea is to go there by bike, take advantage of it and exercise. When I get there, rent a house or a room that costs about 10 or 12 usd a night... and spend the day there taking photos, meeting people... enjoying the sea. At some point I'll go for a bike ride in Baracoa... and then come back home on Sunday. Sounds great doesn't it?

The guys I sometimes go cycling with are busy. They can't come with me.

Here I am. Thinking about what to do. For now I'm going to bed... maybe if I sleep on it she'll suggest some plan to get me through that stretch I'm worried about going through alone.

(My breakfast when I wake up would be that one I shared with you... although ooops... there's no mincemeat left. It's time to activate another contestant) 😉

I got several variants for Yunai, which one's the OG (original gangster)? And I dig the acronym thing (TAT). Not sure if it's original or off the cuff (OTC) but it works everywhere, see what I mean (SWIM)?

😅 United (Yunai) States (Esteits) of America (Améurica) - This is how the-my "bad" pronunciation is written in Spanish. Hahaha...

That's funny. There's so many translations for that word on the internet.

Morning! @dandays 😊☕

That looked delicious....you made me very hungry i might have to try this snack myself one day😋. Hope you make that bike trip one day🤗

It's very easy to make this breakfast hahaha.... welcome to Hive. I saw that you are a traveller. Cool.

Thanks alot for the welcome. Not only a traveler but also a sailor lol. if ur interested u could follow along my adventures😇

A sailor hehehehe... great. I was on board the Greenpeace Rainbow Warrior and dreamt of sailing on that ship.

Ohh yes ive seen that ship in Australia coming out of Broome but then never saw it again. Thanks a lot for the follow i really appreciate it, you will never regret it haha🤣

🤣 I hope so

You say well, it is very annoying not to be able to do what we want, either because of the solitude of the place or perhaps the insecurity, or because at the moment we do not have the resources. On the other hand I like your way of seeing things, unhurried and calm, something like one day at a time, I like reading you, greetings!

Thank you, @brujita18. I think we have to live as best we can, taking steps. Freeing ourselves many times from the fears we have. I realise that a lot of what held me back may just be in my head. It is a learning process that takes time, it's difficult and is very powerful to realise that we are creators to the extent that we think and imagine scenarios.
If I feel insecure it is because my mind is not ready and I better wait until I am.

Greetings!

Well, believe it or not my mouth watered (like your pet) with the juicy picadillo guacamole and the indescribable bodega bread...not for the pistachios, they sure aren't tastier than pumpkin seeds which also de-parasitize....😂

I follow you for more recipes.

Hopefully you can find someone to accompany you to Barbacoa, your plan looks perfect.

🌹

indescribable bodega bread

🤣 Stay tuned to find out more about the other uses of this bread.

I didn't find anyone to accompany me... :(

In the end, it is not worth advising you in that sense. It is always necessary to evaluate the risks. But you have fixed ideas and .... Take care of yourself.a kiss.🥰

🙄

ayyyyy...🤣 (la policía)

I went to the post to find out where you had gotten the pistachios from, and when I read it, I thought: of course!, how naive.

Our sayings in English are truly wonderful🤣🤣🤣

PS: You should give a Masterchef's conference on the HiveCuba Con

🤣

Sure.

Our sayings in English are truly wonderful🤣🤣🤣

It's fun to translate those things. Cuando el mal es de... ¡ya tú sabes! 🤣

Vendrán poco a poco.

Pffffff 🤣

An empty space where your house used to be. Must feel nostalgic. I hope you find a way to make that bike trip happen ✨🚵

Not my house, the house I rented for almost two years. 😊

Thank you, if I find a way, 🙂 I'll come and tell you about it.

I love the breakfast, yummy and delicious 😋

Yeap... 😁 Very very delicious!

I knew it, I am coming for my share, expect me, on the way 🚘

I would like to have slices of avocado on my bread, but unfortunately it is difficult to find good avocado. So for now, I just have breakfast with boiled eggs and steamed bananas :)

At least you're not allergic to it. I have to keep benedryl in the car at all times (there's a pack in there now) cuz once every couple years'ish, typically at a Mexican joint, they forgot they used avacado oil and my whole respiratory system begins shutting down systematically at the restaurant—helluva scene.

Hello Anggrek.

Hello, :)

So, you did not consume avocado anymore?

Correct. I've never been able to. Learned as a real young child, about 4 or 5, I'm dangerously allergic to it. All throughout grade school I carried an emergency response in my backpack. Never had to use it though.

According to Pura and everyone else, however, I'm really missing out! = }

I have never heard of anyone being allergic to avocado. OMAiiigat

I'm the only one I know. It's such an easy protein, too. Hashtag MyLuck. <3

Uh, we just need to take care of the unicorn. 😄✨

Ah, what a pity, they are so tasty. Here what has been lost is the eggs. Two dozen eggs cost almost 10 usd, 65% of my monthly salary as a journalist.

Oh, so what the protein you can take, maybe plant based protein

Beans... 🤷🏻‍♀️ I have to buy eggs even if they are expensive... when they appear, of course. Beef liver is being sold close to home. That mincemeat, which I talked about here, is turkey. And chicken. In Baracoa I could get fish. Forget the prices, everything is bad here. 😥

Great breakfast and very nutritious... coffee with milk please!

But a tree cutting lock for the bread? First try with a handsaw hahahahahahahaha

I love the plan but if it's dangerous I should find someone to go with you, although the plan is tempting and it's tempting to go alone, it would be great!

I hope the pillow gave you some good advice! I would go... with caution... take the lock with you in case someone crosses your path... ahh no you can't do that!🤣

Jajaja... Ahí va.

A hand saw I don't have.... I don't have the other thing either. I have a knive from IKEA that have teeth.

Let's not think about those bad energy things. I'll try to arrive with caution - alone. 👀😉

El cuchillo servirá... bien armada y no dejes de pedalear, dale con todo! Disfruta el viaje. Estarás bien!

I missed this post, I don't think there's anything left of breakfast, and of the trip, I don't know if you've already arrived pedaling.... I'm reassured that you posted today.

Hugs @nanixxx

There is breakfast left. Not the pistachios, because I'm afraid I'm eating the last of them right now, as I read and comment on Hive. Thank you. I didn't go to Baracoa because I'm afraid... I just stared at the ceiling like I was tied up. I guess I have a lot of mental work to do. I'm working on it.

A hug back.

If a voice has told you not to go to Baracoa, I'm sure it has its reasons. Maybe it wants to take care of you.you thought about it?

🙂 Yes, I thought so. You are right.

I'll go with you. I just need money for a plane ticket and a bike and the hotel, plus a little extra to cover the money I won't be earning while I'm not here earning it.

"La Yunai" 🤣 that's cute!😍

🤣

Come here girl!

🛩🚲🏖

You don't need a hotel, I've got my own place 😅

I mean the place where we're biking!

just one night, 12 bucks... or do you think that instead of spending that on accommodation, I should buy better contestants for breakfast?

you have a tent? That way it's free.

🤣 (estoy muriendo de risa)

I am currently the owner of three tents. Can we just tent up on the beach just like that? I would be so down for bikepacking in Cuba. Except for the part where I'd miss Pilot terribly.

Aren't you in bed dreaming dreams by now???

Saludos.
