Snowpea's fourth Airbnb in a restored Victorian building

Hello it's me Snowpea again, back sooner than I expected. This week I was supposed to be staying at my soon to be permanent home for a week before I go away on holiday for a fortnight. But I ended up staying at my fourth Airbnb instead!! This is the most beautiful Airbnb I've stayed at so far, let me tell you what happened.

When I arrived home from my last Airbnb a few days ago, I was all ready to start packing for my holiday in a week's time. Suddenly our neighbors downstairs said there's a leak coming through their ceiling!! Our flat was not quite finished renovated yet but everything was on track to be finished soon. The leak was something that we hadn't expected. Most of the floor boards had just been laid and we had to take some up to trace the leak. We also had to turn off the mains to stop any further leaks.

By late afternoon there was still no progress in finding the source of the leak so we quickly booked somewhere else to stay as we couldn't turn the water back on. Luckily an Airbnb room was available nearby and it was situated in a beautiful Victorian crescent building that I often pass by.

I always wondered what the inside of these buildings looked like. Although this was an unplanned expense which I would have liked to avoid, the fact that I could stay in such a beautiful building made it a bit better. Here's the stunning hallway with the original Victorian features on the ceiling.

I found a cozy spot on top of the radiator in the bedroom and am loving the renovation work done by the owner. Apparently this used to be the bathroom, but any signs of smelly toilets and wet showers had all been replaced by the lush shade of forest green painted walls, luxury William Morris wallpaper and soft furnishing. It was perfect for a little fairy like me.

There are many nice small touches in the room such as a tea and coffee making facilities complete with kit kat nibbles sticking out from the milk jar. If I wasn't called Snowpea, I might as well be called Chocolate as I lovvve chocolate. The kit kat bars have all disappeared now as I have gobbled them up already.

My favourite item in the room are these pair of lovely glass cups. Don't you think they create such a beautiful magnifying effect?

The Airbnb host bought this property and converted it from three flats on three floors to a lovely family home. The upstairs is their own home and I didn't get to see it. I spent most of my time in my room and working in their beautiful restored family kitchen.

However, they said they have been featured on a TV program which documents the renovation process, and that will be aired on mainstream TV in UK in May. I shall make sure I keep a lookout for that when it airs, especially since I've stayed here.

Sorry to hear about yet another complication with the move but this AirBnb looks really amazing! Enjoy this unexpected little holiday :) I mean before going on the big and expected holiday :)

Can't wait to go away on a much needed holiday tomorrow?!

That does look like a really nice place. All of the finishes really feel like the are spot on for the time period that it is from. That wallpaper is just crazy. It kind of reminds me of some I had in my room when I was a kid. That sucks about your floor and the leak. Hopefully they get it sorted out soon.

That kind of wallpaper isn't to everyone's taste to be honest. If I had it in my room, I'll need to have the furniture and soft furnishing to go with it, or have a good eye to mix mash with some modern furniture. Did you like the wallpaper in your room?

We actually found the leak a little while after I booked the airbnb, which was a bummer, but luckily the airbnb is such a nice place I don't mind too much.

I did when I was a kid. I think my mom and dad painted over it a long time ago though.

Sorry to hear about the leak. In the UK do you have homeowner's insurance that covers leaks?

That kitchen was very nicely remodeled. I do lot of kitchens and that one hits a lot of the details I do, farmhouse sink, floor to ceiling cabinets, island with two pendant lights. The color scheme was nice too.

I also like how they kept the "antique" furniture in some of the room. Classy.

Hope the the leak is found and repaired without too much hassle.

This is my sister's place actually which I will be buying off here once it's finished renovated. She's got insurance on it and I belive she's going to claim the insurance so hopefully it will be sorted out smoothly for downstairs. The leak itself turned out to be a small issue once we found it. It was a loose radiator joint on the other side of the room so all those floorboards were removed for nothing!!

I remember seeing you do a post about a renovation job a few weeks ago. I always thought you were a gem collector, a man of many talents!!

Leaks are such a nightmare. Glad to hear it's covered.

Ya, I wear a contractor's hat that pays the bills and a gem collectors hat that will hopefully be enough to pay the bills soon!

I'm sorry about your flat and the leak. But the place where you are staying is very nice. Snowpea is becoming quite an experienced little fairy in accommodation for her young age, hehe. I hope your flat problem will be solved soon.

Snowpea certainly has been around a bit for her young age and I will be taking her on her first holiday this weekend. She is very excited.

The leak problem is solved now. We actually found the problem shortly after I booked the airbnb but I'd already paid for it and there is no refund. Luckily it's such a nice place ,so it's ok.

Have you and Snowpea a great holiday! :) And I'm glad to know the leak problem has been sorted.

What a lovely spot. Boohoo on the water leak. Hope it's soon sorted.

Yes it has, thanks Fiona ❤️

Thanks for dropping by!

You are most welcome 😇😇

Oh no! Sorry to hear about the leak. That's an unexpected inconvenience. The Airbnb is really nice though. And KitKas! Who doesn't love a kitkat!?!

Life is always full of unexpected surprises. Luckily the nice airbnb compensated for the slight inconvenience.

Kitkat all the way!!

Damn, just to enjoy those William Morris wallpapers is worthen to stay in Airbnb. I love them a lot, it gives a certain character to the place. In general, are they overpriced? Yes. Are they worth it? Yes :)

The host said they got a good deal via the TV program during filming,as many suppliers were happy to sponsor the renovation works otherwise he wouldn't have gone for such high end material. That's a very good deal I say!

So annoying when things go wrong 😬 Perhaps it is better now than later when everything is finished and there is suddenly a leak. Hopefully, you can trace it and fix it for good.

All good, found the leak shortly after I booked the Airbnb but since there's no cancellation we decided to do another staycation

Ahhh, that's good!

That water leak in your flat could probably be considered a blessing in disguise. Why? If not for that, you wouldn't have been able to experience that exquisite Victorian Airbnb accommodation. With its fabulous architectural details and comfortable interior, it was a fruitful stay worth appreciating! 😊

That's true. How often do you get to stay in such a beautiful home! So I'm actually not that annoyed especially since we found the leak very soon

Hey, The leak was surely a bummer but that beautiful airbnb was quite a taste. I really liked the design of the place very cosy and comfortable.
Keep sharing your experiences, have a great day:) @livinguktaiwan

Oh, such a leak is of course not a pleasant surprise. But it's nice to see the stylish accommodation you've now been able to immerse yourself in. I also like the glass cups very much, everything is coordinated. I hope you can solve the problem with the leak soon :)

We found the leak soon after I booked the airbnb, so it ended up as kind of a forced staycation but a very nice one, so i didn't mind too much. The glass cups are very nice, I'm going to look for some in the second hand shops now, they're really stylish

I hope you find some that you like!:) Then the forced vacation had a little bit of good:)

This is like the Downtown Abbey scene right there. I guess when bad luck gets to you, some new lucky doors open. I would love to stay at this cool place

But somehow you did stay in a very cute and beautiful Airbnb.

I like it when you arrive somewhere and it is such a surprise and just nice to be there. We had some bad and good experiences over the years…
Great photos to let us see 😊
