I totally agree that more consumers is a great thing, however, it's not everything. And your comment on the imbalance of creator to consumer on Hive is also a good point. We are still in the early adopter phase, so Hive is kind of a circle of hipsters that are excited for the future and there aren't many casual consumers yet. Which is odd, because from the Hive whitepaper, there is an intent to make this mainstream to a non-crypto audience.
Take instagram for example. Artists with 50k-100k make NOTHING off the platform. Even when promoting their patreon/other off page donation, save for a few exceptions there is very little earning potential. Every independent content creator I know would rather have a small, focused, loyal and paying crowd rather than a mob of people who swipe and leave.
Something like the system on Cent could work - if you subsidise a creator you get a cut of future donations. So supporters are incentivised to support quality to get rewards themselves. Sadly the Cent platform does not boast the content, design and quality of Hive, so it does not really deliver much.
Would love to hear your thoughts on the Cent model :) and again thanks for the thoughtful input
I'm glad we agree on those two points. (And my post never said consumers were 'everything' it says that it's my main focus for this campaign, and what Hive is most in need of.)
As far as I can tell, my suggestions here are the most effective way of accomplishing that goal, but I'm happy if anyone else has a more effective approach. :)
Very interesting! Thanks for sharing this. I know little of Cent, your link is the first I've heard of it, but it sounds like they'll face the same issues Hive faces.
Great model. Unique selling proposition. Good project at heart.
But simply lacking bold enough, clear enough, and focused enough messaging to persuade consumer-adoption. :)
My message, over and over through this post and the pages of comments I've written is this:
Consumers are drowning in a sea of noise and literally only pay attention to boldness. Period. This won't magically change just because people don't like it, so Hive (or Cent, or whoever's seeking mass-adoption or rapid-growth) might as well use it.
And thank you as well! I enjoyed our discussion and your thoughtful input too! Wishing you a wonderful day! 😁🙏
