I think we can all agree on the fact that we could use a little less drama and a little more laughter into our lives, so let me share a little anecdote of what happened to me today...
Just before I was about to head into the village, to throw out some trash, get some exercise, socialize a bit ( after 3 days on my own, living the hermit-quinta life ) and do some grocery shopping, I noticed that my pants were a little dirtier than I liked them to be.
Let me tell you: light blue isn’t the best color to wear in the countryside, let alone if you're not living in/ or haven’t had a house with a properly working washing machine ( me in the last 3+ years ).
Also, laundromats are a NO GO for me, as they use crappy stuff like bleach and perfume, that make not just my nose itch, to say the least. Also, they are expensive.
In other words, I decided to hand-wash my pants and start out by soaking them in some water with sodium bicarbonate first. This way I could hopefully get them a bit cleaner, while washing them after returning from my visit to the village.
So, to the creek I walked, carrying a bucket. This natural water source runs at the edge of my current land. I pump it up hill, into my water tanks, about once a week ( see previous quinta life posts ). Once I'd arrived at the water’s edge, I carefully placed my feet on the small muddy patch just above the water level. I bent over and then scooped a liter or 5 ( or probably a bit more ) out of the creek and then straightened myself.
When I was about to walk backwards, my feet slipped ( FYI: I was wearing old sneakers that hardly have any profile left underneath them ) and I managed to fell backwards, on my butt, splashing liters of water over my shoes, pants and T-Shirt. In fact, my shoes were so wet that my feet might have partially gone into the creek for a second or two. I'm not sure.
What I do know is that I laughed out loud!
Fun Fact: I had put on another pair of pants ( dark blue ones ), just before I walked up to the creek. Those were dirty too, now.
So now I had to soak and wash two pair of pants.
I was happy though that I hadn’t slipped down, ending up in the creek entirely ( even though the water is only about 2 feet deep ). Let's say that it would have been a bit messier and muddier.
I guess it might have made me laugh harder and you too! ;<)
Extra fun fact, or perhaps a sign of stupidity:
I had slipped on that muddy patch twice before, in the last week or two.
Do I ever learn?
The hand washed pants are now drying, right next to me, above the wood burner.
I wonder what they'd think of me, if they'd had a brain ;<)
LoL! XD Can you not pick a different spot to get water from? Is that muddy bit the only accessible bit? :D
It is the only accessible spot, right now due to overgrowth but I could have gotten water inside of the house or from one of the two taps outside haha!
I just felt like doing it the 'farmer's way' ;^)

I hate laundry's too merry of the shit ton of conditioner there put in clothes. Conditioner, nice as it makes your clothes feel, breaks my skin out in hives!

And talking about rolling, I rolled/ somersaulted down a hill with big rocks rolling past me, a couple of years ago. This happened back when I was house sitting friends' house that came with 7 hectares!!! of land ( 3 years ago ). Then too, I had had several warnings before, not to take that shortcut ( let alone whilst carrying things in my hands ).
And yes, conditioner gives me eczema/ itches. In fact, most stuff that contains additions, isn't natural.
Hells bells. Did you escape relatively unscathed? Isnt it always the same with warning s though? We always think that we can do it properly, lol!

lol. I'm glad you found it funny, though. I can see all of this, all three slips into the mud. I just thought today about how thankful I am to have a washer and dryer, or my clothes would be washed far less often than they are now. Wear wool! It never smells bad, not even ten years of regular wear later!
That is something to be grateful for indeed but I also think we over wash things, once we have machines.
And thanks for reminding me to invest in wool clothing and get rid of sweaty synthetic clothing, no matter how cool the prints on these shirts might look.

It's so true that natural fabrics need less washing. They attract less dirt, smell better far longer, last far longer, are better for the earth, and are better for your health. Their extra cost is worth it in many ways.

but it might have ended me ;^)
It is a fact but the color of boys' pants goes more in the same way and blue color pants are preferred by all the boys. When a person washes clothes inside the house, the cost is reduced. It takes more money to get them from outside. So here in our country, all people wash clothes inside the house. The weather is looking very beautiful.

Blue has always been my favorite color. Although I liked green too but not so much for pants.
Yeah, it saves money but it sure is more effort. I always had a washing machine, for most of my life, until I came to Portugal. Handwashing comes with the off-grid/ countryside life ;<)

Hahaha! Now that would have been hilarious! I actually only have 3 pairs of pants ( aside from shorts and boxers haha ) so I would have a slight problem ( it being Winter and all ).

I literally smiled while reading this. The part where you said you laughed is so relatable to me. In some situations, it's better to just laugh than to begin cussing. It's helps you feel better.

I am glad that the fall wasn't as serious as getting injured. My brother once take an iron bucked to go and get water at the stream. The muddy ground fell him and he broke his head. He was treated and became fine.
