I know, it is night now, but, that sentence about night was getting too complicated without a translator. :) You know what I meant, yes?
Lavender is the new it scent, perhaps it has always been, but, seems much more prevalent now. It is all about the Lavender! The amazing field in France, I remember them so well. It is those I dream about, not here. It has much time to become all grown up. :) Still, it has all the makings of a beautiful field. And it definitely has the scent that we all look for. I actually enjoy going to the smaller farms, they are usually run by whole families and I like watching how seamlessly they work together. The farms like these have been around for quite a few years, along with the fruit orchards where you go and pick your own. The first one I ever went to, I laughed, thinking how we are paying them to work. :) But, the upside is that you get the fruits that you want, so it really all works out.
This particular Lavender Farm got a hard hit during Covid and is just now getting back on its feet. In a few years, their lavender will be huge, but in the meantime, we love it anyway.
I truly understand the lack of inspiration. :) But, I continue. You can take a break from it. :) Lucky you!!

The scent is always subtle and very calming. I have sachets all over the house, especially in the bedroom. It feels peaceful to me. Harvest season is from early June to mid-July. So they open up late May to early June. It is going to be peak season probably next week. I would say the best of the season is six weeks long. Europe, specifically France, is behind us and usually theirs starts in July, just when ours is finished. They are much cooler there.

This post went to my heart because I too am an admirer of this plant and am impressed by its beauty, especially in the fields of France. I have a few bushes myself but they don't really like it in my yard, unfortunately.
I only have it in my bedroom, next to my pillow. It helps me fall asleep faster and more pleasantly!

I am pretty sure the ones that I am growing in my yard would rather be somewhere else. They don't thrive and have a will to live. Just an anemic version of itself. :)

Yes, @dswigle, I fall asleep dreaming of a field full of lavender... I'd like that but it doesn't happen very often. Anyway, the scent of lavender is very pleasant and relaxing. It reminds me of the flowers my grandmother used to put in my bedroom, it was called "sulfine" (Melilotus officinalis), I don't know if I'll find a translation...
