Pep Up Your Day Visiting Local Markets

Art Captured The Eye Today

Well it has been some time since I visited our local nursery for a morning iced coffee and chat, it was sweltering hot sipping cold was good!

Tired of running into conventional shops (which I honestly find boring), prices steeply rising one tends to concentrate purely on cost and getting out being under a mask!

Today was different, no shopping just looking enjoying a little of an outing, come see how much has changed while covid has been happening....

Roof is no longer just a roof, now covered with solar panels to avoid the power outages that are becoming more frequent, bet the owners spent some time finding a good price, no longer 'cheap' to invest into, better than relying on local electricity supply!

Neat rows of outdoor plants, a small section on offer that celebrate the harsh sunlight hours waiting to sold into private gardens.

Art captured my eye today with a very charming coffee table of sun and moon looking gracefully back at you, separate forces of natural world that affect our emotions daily.

A little Herbie '53 driving out of the frame, wonder if that was the model year a retro little VW Beetle 1953. What a car I think every person over fifty-five today either owned one or has driven in one somewhere, sometime!

Indoor plants or plants that prefer shade showcased in their own pavilion, sub-tropical offers so many options to plant with colour in leaves or flowers.

Many are turning back to indigenous it is evident when shopping at local nursery they support only local plants to assist region preserving biodiversity.

Outdoor flowering enjoy morning sunlight capturing ones heart as you walk past with little yellow tongue sticking out for you to notice the absolute beauty #alwaysaflower for Denise.

Walking via Bonsai section for those who enjoy making miniature out of big, yes that too is a lovely hobby!

Exiting with sunflowers steering you on your way, take note of Weed Food notice above LOL, this plant grows exceptionally well down here, no hot-house requirements nor TLC they just grow! Mind out for Mr. Plod he may not like you as much as you thought!

Wheeling you away, your chariot awaits, a miniature red Herbie parked outside to take you away, reminded me of Noddy when we were young. Was Enid Blyton not fabulous with childrens stories, Noddy's car was cheerful in sunflower yellow with pillar-box red bumpers.

And so we come to the end of this Market Friday with @dswigle hosting the show, yes you pay wherever you go, choose wisely you can see a lot along the way. Happy Friday!

That is all for today folks, chilling out with some much needed rain outdoors, birds are singing and no I didn't buy anything on our visit, it was purely to visit the small market enjoying sights and sounds.

Sort:

So lush and green! We are getting buckets of rain where I am today so it is lovely to see all the green and sun.
Oh pay as you go would definitely have me hoping I have enough for the end of the route! ;)

Rains are always welcomed here in a relatively dry region, a few days and scenery bounces back into flourishing green with everything outdoors enjoying a good bathe.

Have a wonderful weekend and thanks for visiting.

Iced coffee is definitely the best drink in this heat! I love visiting nurseries. But this one is really lovely with the paintings! Especially that Volksie.

Best spot on the South Coast has been here about forty years so well established.

Help different arts, crafts, pet and pet shop establishment, they have weekend markets which are slowly building up once again after all the shutdowns.

!LUV thanks for visit and have a great weekend, it's raining, I'm smiling 😆

We are hoping for rain but I'm smiling with you over yours! Where is the nursery? I left the South Coast in the late 90's so it has probably changed a LOT since then. Just the solar roof is "new". Love that more businesses are going that way - although I guess Eishkom helps make that decision!

Illovo Nursery is in Elizabeth Ave., Illovo Beach has been there since before you left, grown somewhat over the years.

Whole South Coast has changed, need to find somewhere quieter to live, once I know what direction life is taking us all down, for now better the devil you know!

Illovo Nursery! I would never have guessed. My mom is ever the gardener and would've frequented most of the South Coast nurseries. Last I passed through to visit my 90 something year old grandfather in the Village I was saddened by how much it has changed

Our whole coastal district has changed in the 40 years we have lived here, need to move inland, find somewhere safe, but where? Yes small villages all look disgusting of late, lost the charm that brought us here in the first place.

Just a walk in a market as this can be so relaxing, and yes away from those lock up shops we are used to can be a change of outing, shopping one needs. Very colorful out there, would be nice getting those artists on Hive where their talent can be tokenized.

So many arriving to market with homemade goodies from pickles, home sewing crafts, toys, you think of it you may find it!

Next time I visit I will pop into the Art Gallery and see who is supplying in the artwork, this particular day they were closed, I think many are still trying to find their feet.

Next time you work down this way be sure to pop in it is relatively easy to find for a nice chilling lunch break or breakfast Illovo Nursery, 40 Elizabeth Ave, Illovo Beach.

!LUV Have a great weekend, cooler weather, still humid as hell!

Thanks for the address will keep that in mind when next am in KZN, raining at the moment actually in JHB and I only arrived from a hot Rustenburg today as well.

Have a blissful weekend! 🤗

There are amazing nurseries all around SA when you on the road you should visit if able.

Rustenburg can be a hot place my oldest brother went to boarding school up there, at his request!

Safely home, time to sit back and enjoy a !BEER

Safely home, time to sit back and enjoy a !BEER

Absolutely! I should be having a beer or two tomorrow 😃

No doubt Rustenburg is a beauty except for the hot weather I like the place

Sorry, you don't have enough staked BEER in your account. You need 24 BEER in your virtual fridge to give some of your BEER to others. To view or trade BEER go to hive-engine.com

Fresh dawn, fresh day and a lovely cool morning here in Durban, rain has been steady and not too heavy bringing temperature down, it's a beautiful day!

Good morning form Roodepoort! Its been almost constant rain through the night and the early hours of the morning over here. Kind of stopped at the moment makes me decide rushing to Flora Centre for something to cook...

A beautiful day I will describe it over here as well.

BEERHey @joetunex, here is a little bit of from @joanstewart for you. Enjoy it!

Did you know that you can use BEER at dCity game to **buy dCity NFT cards** to rule the world.

Glad you got to cool off with iced coffee and check out the plants. One has to be careful when shopping or pay through the nose~prices have skyrocketing on groceries and other items.I have noticed lately.

Yes, I’m one of those guilty of having a VW in my younger days. They were easy on gas but the heater was a bummer for a Canadian winter when heat was needed on the windshield.

Have a wonderful weekend, Joan

Iced coffee was a superb choice, with this little market place one is able to support some amazing projects in crafts.

My home needs clearing out, no purchases unless unusual or really needed, much to go through possibly auction off being antiques.

Oh the VW was not powerful enough to go up steep hills in forward drive, friend used to reverse up finding that gear more powerful 😊. They always got you from A - B seldom if ever heard of anyone being let down on the side of the road.

Enjoying cooler weather and rains at the moment, have yourself a warm weekend Jo and thanks for visiting.

This looks like such a lovely nursery and I loved the Herbie. It looks like it was a wonderful day out Joan :)

Vibrant morning out meandering between plants, crafts, pets mainly fish and small birds which I never photograph feel bad for anything caged.

I particularly loved the sun and moon painting.. thank you for making me capture the art with my eyes by bringing it on here.

Great ideas in art crafts, these were placed in the pet section of the nursery while art gallery was still closed, hope they open again for local art to go on display once again.

Oh, that's nice.

And I hope they do open again. It'd be lovely to see some more pictures.

I sincerely hope so it was a lovely gallery to visit.

Thanks for sharing about your visit to this small lovely market. That coffee table looks so nice and to be surrounded by plants always lifts my mood. I'm very much looking forward to spring here in Sweden 🙂

Only visited your region in late summer and late autumn, spring must be gorgeous when everything wakes up from the long winter.

Finding ideas for your cottage when you settle, bright, cheerful to motivate throughout the year.

Yes it is. Sometimes the transition is so fast though. Everything kind of explodes if we get warm weather all of a sudden.

Yes I like a lot of color 🙂 The Scandinativan style is so grey but I prefer color 🙂

Red painted houses in white snow very attractive to see when snow is fresh, sure a little messy before explosion of colour sets in.

Hope you enjoy once you settle, find loads of colourful items when in Asia, or plan to paint your own from ideas found.

Thank you for your encouragement 🙂

My buddy had 2 of the little VW Beetles. You could hear him coming from a mile away lol.

They dont have a radiator so heat was supplied with a heatbox that brought in so much exhaust we had to have the windows cracked to get some fresh air in lol.

Little VW's were loads of fun, always got you to the destination, even if slowly.

At least with old cars one could work on them doing minor services or tweaks, would not touch these modern ones with all the electronics wrapped up in plastic.

Indeed. From what I recall the Beatle was very reliable especially for the money. Those were fun times. I would like to go back to that time in my life for a redo lol.

I would like to go back to that time in my life for a redo lol.

Hands up yeah, next in line for redo! I knew three guys growing up who each owned a beetle, helped each other fix and repair, messing around with music blasting, great times most first car ownership was VW.
