The projects I did back in January also partially funded pure votes. You can see where funding sources are located in this post. It seems like this is something that you're attempting to do. Good luck. It might take time to do it all. So it's best to have a few months before even conducting the events.

Yes! This is exactly what I'm planning on doing! your Hive awareness event looks amazing! and very inspiring. I'm already starting to seed my funding account (@hivefunded) with the rewards from this post to start getting a small pool of money going. The first version should be relatively simple and I can add things as I learn and the event grows.

On the very first episode of Hive Thrive, during the Q&A segment, @blocktrades made a suggestion about an alternative method of requesting funding for a project: pure upvotes.

Interesting point! I think it could help smaller projects to grow.

Every week I have to send over a couple of Hive from my personal account to be able to pay them all.
It's no problem since I've started this initiative with the idea to improve engagement, but it would be nice if the project would be self-sufficient.
Some upvotes of high stakeholders could surely help with that. I'm running a small project (@topcomment) myself which is slowly growing. I power down the account so I'm able to pay the delegators their share (80% of curation rewards).

That's a nice initiative! congratulations!

Some large stakeholders are very involved in the ecosystem. You'd be surprised how up-to-date some of the quiet whales actually are. I would also recommend approaching Orcas (medium-sized accounts) to tell them about your project. Many Orcas are incredibly supportive of activities that add value to HIVE.

Here are some of my articles on the importance of Orcas:

Thanks!

The promotions mostly result in delegstions, which is great, but since I give 80% returns of curation rewards, the account itself almost doesn’t grow.I've been promoting @topcomment quite a bit in several ways already. I haven't targeted hivers with high stakes specifically. I'm promoting it on Snaps and even had a small talk on the Hive Humpday Hangout podcast.

I do create a weekly post that gives some transparency on the upvoted posts by the team and the top 20 most upvoted users, but that post does not get a lot of rewards. The @topcomment account is fairly new and doesn’t have a lot of followers.

I'm a bit hesitant to contact high stake users to ask for their votes.

It would be nice if there were a sort of shark tank with orcas and whales where people could pitch their projects (pun intended 😉).

I'm all for people raising funds through their posts, but we know that a few accounts are needed to get the big rewards and what if one of them decides you are making too much? The DHF is a more reliable fund, but then you need to qualify for it. I do think we need multiple ways to raise funds.

Thanks Steve! I'm willing to give this experiment a try and see what works and what doesn't. If my event brings value to Hive, maybe I'll get some value in return. I'll be happy if I achieve partial funding.

I think you can do daily progress posts. What we don't really want are posts that say 'Vote for our project'. People have to build support for what they do and provide updates.

I think, small projects were funded by a DHF Proposal managed by @valueplan and @guiltyparties, but their next plan is not funded I believe, so we need something similar.

Yeah, we need to find alternative methods of allowing value to circulate. DHF is one way, but there are others. This is one way. Another can be doing work in exchange for HIVE.

I'm sure there are many others.

Yes interesting idea and you´re right!
I am curious about the events you will setup and looking forward! =)

My main goal is for people to experiment using our tools. I want to help them do that. When they experience paying with Keychain for the first time, it's likely to pique their interest in what else they might be able to find on HIVE.

That´s true, very good idea! Wish you the best for this.

Solid experiment. The idea of funding projects through upvotes is interesting, but yeah, Hive politics can be something else. Hope your meetup takes off, free snacks might just be the real MVP

It's worth a try. I think paying with @v4vapp gives people the experience of using decentralized digital assets for the first time and that experience has the potential to get them hooked. I'll make my first post about my event soon.

will be awaiting that post Mr Alex 🔥💪💪

I'm very much for this and have been running POSH this way for a long time, I think as long as a project isn't solely benefiting a single entity but Hive as a whole, we should definitely throw votes to help fund it - especially if it doesn't require too much funding.

We're kind of in a liquidity crunch with POSH recently as @nomnomnomnom (our 0 fee liquidation account for @redditposh) but as soon as that becomes self-sufficient with the powerdowns we're looking to raise funds for different things again. I'd also be interested in helping out with votes as long as there's transparency on usage of the funds and some ideas I deem to be valuable and worth the cost to test out in an attempt to bring value back to hive one way or another.

Hey Acid,

Hive awareness event in Indonesia. Other small projects, like my meetup, can be funded this way.I'm very inspired by @macchiata's

My plan is to treat this as a value-for-value initiative. In other words, focus on providing value to HIVE first and if the community finds value in what I'm doing, they reciprocate with small or large votes, depending on how valuable they think it is.

I agree that documenting is key from the get go. Reporting on impact as well as funds spent is super important if the community starts showing interest.

Thanks for commenting.

I’m sorry to ask again. Does this mean that there are some special accounts that are aimed at funding some people of their needs apart from upvotes? Or am I getting wrong?

There are no special accounts. If you focus on providing value to HIVE as a whole, others will support your initiatives with upvotes. If you also provide consistent planning, and meticulous reporting, the community will start trusting you as a Hive citizen and they will continue to show support.
