RE: Follow Friday - Hivetacular

It's all related, but you don't realize it.

  • All our words, actions, etc. stem from what our underlying agenda is.

@dbuzz's agenda is preserving + expanding #FreeSpeech online.

Posted via D.BuzzThat also happens to be the best use case for onboarding . . and user retention for #Web3.

Sort:

If you want to find out anyone's "real" intentions because you think they are different from what they are saying, you should open another conversation for that. 🤨

Umm, I asked hin directly in this thread.

  • And I don't have to start a separate one since https://d.buzz is an informal method of communicating.

Posted via D.BuzzIt also all relates to everything else in this discussion, since @steevc has not directly said, what his agenda is yet.

I plan to confound nasty people by being nice to them!

I want Hive to do well so more people can benefit from it. Of course I can profit from that, but it is not something I am so bothered about.

I'd also like people to stop hating on others for their race, beliefs or sexual orientation, but I have less influence on that.

Feel free to ask me about my motives.

Thank you @steevc.

  1. Has your kindness confounded people? I have found that kindess is either appreciated & returned, or ignored in my practice.

  2. Is onboarding more users, & increasing user retention, one of your primary motives?

    Posted via D.Buzz

  1. Some people are trying to provoke a response. Why should I let them get to me? Without Hive we would never encounter each other.
  2. Of course I want more people to join and stay. Hive is nothing without users and is unsustainable if it cannot grow.
  3. Replying to another thread and increase the numbered points ;), there is plenty of discrimination out there. I know you have a motive to promote what you consider a better alternative to 'mainstream media, and Web2 social media platforms'. Naturally news gets sensationalised to sell copy. We also have politicians who like to stir things up to create division, but you cannot tar all outlets and politicians with the same brush. Journalists are being harassed and even killed around the world for trying to report the facts. The same can happen to those who stand against some regimes. Not everyone is driven purely by profit.

Let's have some bullet points too! I know you love them :)

  • Hive will attract some people who get excluded from other platforms for preaching hate. So far it has not been too bad, but we shall see. Some of them are more media savvy and present themselves as 'concerned citizens', but may not be so benign.
  • As a straight white guy I am in a 'privileged' position in my society and do not get picked on as much as some others. That does not mean I can't get angry about prejudice and injustice.
  • 'Free speech' is a great ideal, but it's not always a simple matter of right and wrong. I am no sociologist or political expert. I have my own, personal, opinions on this. Some of that may come out in what I write online, but that is my choice. I will pick what points I want to debate.

Peace.

  1. Who? And why did you use the word "Provoke"?

  2. What are the best use cases to pitch #HIVE for, in your view?

  3. Posted via D.Buzz@dbuzz is not centered around anything other than the preservation & expansion of #FreeSpeech. The fact we don't rig algos one way or another is our best use case

  1. There have been various people and I'm not naming anyone. Some want more of an argument than a debate. 'Keyboard warriors' with time on their hands? We know there are plenty of 'trolls' out there. I can pick who I want to talk to. Ultimately I am here for fun and enjoyment, not to get stressed out.
  2. My interests are largely around creative people earning from their work, e.g. music and comics. But Hive can be for anyone who wants to put stuff out publicly. Politics is not really my focus, but I will get involved in issues I care about. Recruiting people is hard though. Not all of them get what Hive is and the money may not be enough to tempt them away from platforms where they can have thousands of followers.
  3. If DBuzz can be neutral then that's great. I know some people are less keen on short-form content, but I think there is a case for it being on Hive. Not everyone wants to write or read long blogs.
  • Lastly, I don't think many people in terms of %, hate based on race, beliefs or sexual orientation.

That "problem" is purposely exaggerated and over blown by the mainstream media, and Web2 social media platforms with rigged algos.

A lot of the reasoning for abuse fighting on #Hive is to enhance user retention and increase onboarding.

But it's important to confirm that it's also @steevc's agenda, vs. something else.
