The News

As we move into June the next Hive hardfork is due soon. That will bring some changes to curation rewards that could encourage more manual voting. I can only hope so. All the automated voting that tries to optimise rewards does not serve us well. Few people can find and assess a post within five minutes, so I thought that was a crazy aspect. Voting on comments may be more worthwhile and I do that anyway.

The Stats

The prices on @coingecko have not changed too much. $HIVE ought to be well ahead of these others given the value is has as a platform. I would hope we can at least get back into the top 200 soon.

Prices

Over on @stateofthedapps Hive is impressively ahead in terms of transactions. On that site and on @dappradar Hive dapps are not ranking as high as they should as it seems unique users are not detected properly. @risingstargame has over 900 active users, but the latter site says it is only 4! I do not know how many people check these sites, but ranking higher ought to be useful for getting seen.

The Follows

I will be doing a new #BritList post tomorrow and I keep finding more people to include. Please get suggestions to me as I am bound to miss some.

  • @djjamesblack is a DJ one of the Brighton music scene who have been joining Hive lately. I really hope to get down there soon to meet some of them.
  • his one yesterday with some great nature photography.I literally just found @timspawls who had not posted in a couple of years before
  • new single. Be sure to tell him what you think of it. Votes are nice, but comments are appreciated and make Hive more social.@davidfar is a musician from further afield. He just released a
  • fast cars and a goth band. Good to see he is still able to work in these difficult times.Video maker @ashtv has been filming
  • @northwestnomad has been giving us his long running comic strip for ages. It ought to have more fans.

The Doghouse

On Hive we need to be vigilant in detecting fraud such as plagiarism. Some people are looking out for it. I saw a case today where @adamada checked that an artist really was who they claimed to be. He has confirmed it is a fake account via Instagram.

Discussion

Hive will get a bad reputation if we do not police this. You can report cases to @hivewatchers.

The End

I hope you find something of interest in these posts. We have to help people connect on Hive to build the community. Finding those who share your interests makes it more fun.

Hive five!

Thanks for the mention @steevc, but you should also credit my other account @chrisrice as I'm also that person that doesn't need to be verified and you just have to take my word for it. I'm sure @jeffjagoe can relate to this as he'll believe there's no need to verify identities claiming to be who they are with just a simple as asking them directly on cross platforms.

No, I'm @chrisrice!

You know what? I believe you already despite not verifying that and knowing how to search for the truth like contacting someone that can possibly prove you're wrong.

I've long thought we could do with some sort of decentralised account verification, something like Keybase provided. Need something that can automatically verify some links we provide point at our Hive account. Hivewatchers have their verification, but it requires manual checking. Just having a trustworthy 'verified' mark on accounts would be worth a lot.

The vouching system is the most simplified form of decentralized verification. Seeing a lot of loopholes can be used against this system it really baffles me how dumb fucks would freely give their info on centralized social media platform to conform vs decentralized platforms where steps to verify can be done in minutes without a drama. Really lacking the proof of brain here.

Ah okay, you were being sarcastic & teasing me, got it @steevc.

  • I am in favor of creating verification software for @dbuzz.

But I believe it should be opt-in, not pressured forced, or done in a way that can lead to needlessly harrassing legit users.

It would be as simple as creating a bot for D.Buzz to see if the user on Hive is indeed the same user as another platform by checking if they have placed a required word (such as "Hive" or their Hive username). 🤨

If verification is "opt-in" like @steevc mentioned, what will happen to those who still don't want to verify despite it being voluntary? 🤔

How about those users who don't have any account in any other platform, such that they won't be able to get a verified tick? 🤔 If users upvote more on "verified" Hive accounts, then Hive users without accounts in other platforms won't be able to verify, and so they will get less votes, despite all their efforts put on Hive. 🤨

Do you think I was harassing a user when I asked them to make a reply on their other social media account like the case mentioned above? The guy clearly faked their profile and it only took me soem conversation off platform to see if they got hive written or know about it. @jeffjagoe disagrees as in his world there's no need for ways to verify users even in decentralized platforms. He gave his private info on centralized platforms freely so why does it become an issue if done on decentralized where you only need to put the word Hive as a requirement?

So how do we know who is legit if they won't verify? See the flaw in your plan?

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

I'm lost @steevc and I don't know what @adamada is talking about.

  • I don't necessarily think we need to police things as much as some believe, but I don't understand why @adamada tagged me.

Or what she (he) is talking about.

I am the real Chris and I don't need to get verified. Sometimes I am Ben or Rupert during Tuesdays. I don't care who makes verification just care whether I'm voting a faker or legit owner of the content. But you gotta take my word for it that I am Chris on the weekends and David on the weekdays as I didn't want to obligate myself to get verified.

I think you can communicate more directly and clear than that, but I understand your sarcasm.

  • Once there is an automated opt-in verification system, that problem will be solved.

Each "Blue Check" mark, could be referenced to the Web2 Profile that was used to verify.

Posted via D.Buzz

For users that decide not to opt in, the ideal scenario is they get less chances of being curated due to the lack of a check mark? Yeah, in an ideal world that would work until some rogue curator with stake just randomly gives out fat votes. There are users like that and don't really give a damn whether they are upvoting stolen content.

Yeah, well that is what Decentralized Mutelists are from, and you can make one:

I saw that vid, just don't see it getting traction yet on the broader Hive where rogue curation on stolen content is still a thing. Great to have tools like for any platform.

I really appreciate your kind support my friend, Thank you so much :) \m/

Appreciate the mention! I'm guessing my comics won't be famous until well after I become a crypto-millionaire and space exploration mogul, but with this help maybe it'll be sooner... 😁

Well I think you should be doing better here after all this time. Doing my bit as I really enjoy your comics and others.
