CommentRewarder (CR) has completed its second week of operation. We wanted to share a quick update on how the system is doing and explain some recent improvements. Thank you to everyone who has supported the project by using CR, spreading the word, and sending feedback.
CommentRewarder Blog Feed
If you've used CR this week, you may have noticed that CR automatically followed you. This is a new feature of the system. CR follows accounts that use the system. The system will unfollow the account after three days unless there is another post younger than three days with CR enabled.
The follow/unfollow behavior is intended to create a dense feed of blogs where engagement is encouraged, and new replies to those posts can earn rewards. The feed is imperfect because followed authors may not always use CR for their posts. Reblogs can appear in the feed without enabling the "Exclude Reblog" filter. Look for the CommentRewarder icon in the bottom right of post previews to find CR posts.

Fixes
There was a minor issue in PeakD where deeply nested replies did not display tip information. The fix for this is included in PeakD's release this week. Also, if you haven't seen PeakD Snaps yet, do it now!
Week 1+2 Stats
- 75 unique blog authors have published a post using CR
- 272 total posts have been published with CR
- 1339 comments have been identified as eligible for rewards
- 36.521 HBD and 586.105 HIVE rewards have been paid out to comments
What's Next
- Continuing to monitor the system for faults.
- Considering changes to provide rewards for replies in Threads/Waves/Snaps short-form discussion threads.
- Paying off our bootstrap loan from hiveposh
- Building recurring stats posts / charts to measure the performance of the CR system over time

Sounds great, I think daily posts with charts and stats (Maybe even leaderboards?) could be nice and to accept a small amount of rewards for things like servers to keep the service feeless!

Can you make a "Comment Rewarder" banner that people can add to posts so readers can identify which posts are participating?
We wanna keep the spam on the chain as low as possible when it comes to comments, etc. You can easily find posts as mentioned in the post, by checking commentrewarder's feed: https://peakd.com/@commentrewarder/feed
Should work on all frontends but not all of them have added the CR icon so you'd have to mouse-over to see which posts are sending rewards to commenters.

This is a great project. I will try using CR in my next post.
I really like this initiative, now I am using it every Thursday in my publication of a contest, last Thursday was my first publication where I set the 10%.
I like the program and I've been sharing 10% of most of my posts. My only trouble is not remembering to upvote comments!
Amazing results in these few weeks and thrilling news in the future. Expanding to threads/waves/snaps will surely complete the use cases of Comment Rewarder.
How are you thinking to do that? Still via beneficiary rewards?
Possibly. The trouble is the front ends don't usually allow changing beneficiary settings for comments.
That's what I was thinking... PeakD seems to allow it, but only for comments, which is likely what you are interested in. I don't see the option for replies. But I haven't seen this option for comments on other front ends.
I noticed a commentrewarder upvote on the top level post that uses this service. Is this automatic or manually done?
It's manual for now. Upvoting posts that use CR, within reason.

I've been using the commentrewarder it's great! Suggestion if you can reward the top engager of the week, so people will have the motivation to comment or interact.

You making a good start, those stats are great for only two weeks.
I've seen several authors use it. I really like it. It's a great start to encourage interaction. Sometimes we're all a little too lazy 😅
Unfortunately most of my posting is through the Actifit front end and I cannot find a way to set the beneficiary. I will try to use it with the other types of posts I make using PwakD as it is easier to set the beneficiaries through that.

This seems like a really great initiative!
Hive seems to have become somewhat less engaging than it was years ago, and we really need something to make this community more "social." And perhaps something that can fill the void left when the long-running "Curation and Engagement Leagues" came to an end.
I believe engagement will help Hive attract new users. After all, who's going to join a "social" platform that's not being social?

A question, if I put @commentrewarder with 3% or more as a beneficiary and my post does not receive rewards or very minimal rewards, what would happen to the comments for which I voted on my post so that @commentrewarder would reward them?

I just made a test post using commentrewarder as 10% beneficiary. If it works out, I'll probably make it part of my post template by default.
