I just wanted to update everyone quickly that Freechain won its first Film Festival award at the first film festival we entered.
Lift off Global Network.
We won the audience award. Unfortunately the judges didnt give us the, lets say, more coveted judges award. But dont be discouraged considering that this festival exists more to support the first time film makers and encourage them to continue their work. It would be a bad move giving both the audience and judge award to the same film, if we indeed boldly assume our film was superior.
Already, in their private chat channels there were people openly complaining that Freechain got more than double the votes than all of the other 6 category winners combined.
So we have definitely been noticed and that might have played a part with judges.
This ofc is not a major festival but our first laurel is definitely welcome. In the end no one seeing it will care about the how and the what. They will see a winner, which Freechain is.
Ultimately Freechain is a film to be seen by the masses, made for people to be educated about this space and entertained. The judges winning choice had a total of 0 audience votes meaning it was probably not seen by anyone.
In my opinion films should be made for audiences, people should care to see it, otherwise its akin to singing in the shower.
Freechain was on top of the voting list for weeks in a festival with more than 300 films. The festival organizers are aware of it and the simple fact that it annoyed some people shows that it garnered interest.
I chalk that down as a win.
Just to mention in the end, I was invited to speak on a livestream with the Lift Off Global festival organizers on 20th February.
On their official youtube channel. Even beyond the win at the festival this is even further a chance for our film and Hive as a whole to get attention.
Ill also be going on another podcast not connected to this next thursday to talk Hive rally and Freechain. Stay tuned for all this.
Me waiting to see the movie
Two questions:
I imagine seeing a landslide like that looks pretty suspect from the perspective of others.
Mmm to vote you had to sent 2 options, so others from Hive probably contributed to other films getting votes and even then there were some with no votes.
I will say that I personally really made an effort to check other submissions, after seeing Freechain, I couldn't write my post about it because I had not submitted the votes yet. There was not one other submission that I could watch for longer than a few minutes. So I personally know that I gave the others a true chance.
I can only speak for myself though :)
I was in about the same bout as you. I watched almost the whole film about Women in Kenya. That one was well made. The others ... not so much.
I did watch 3-4 more. Besides regular documentaries theyre mostly films made for no one. Something someone wanted to make for themselves.
No we wouldnt have won the audience vote. This specific festival was made for new film makers and most are terrible in promoting themselves. Looking at other films if we didnt win the audience vote I think Freechain was the best of the lot and would have deserved the win from the judges. But considering its more about giving everyone a chance the judges gave teh win to something not a single person voted for. We got he laurel and ultimately thats all that matters. No one will ask how and why you got it nor does it say "audience vote" (Which is more times more important)
I mean I wont share screenshots of the comments but they did complain as if getting votes from people when no one cares about what they made is our problem in any way.
you had to submit 2 votes and write a short explanation why did you vote for it. So i did make a genuine attempt. i must admit i became Americanized and have a problem of watching things that i don't understand (subtitles). some had topics that i did not care about, some looked like they were filmed 30 years ago with small camcorder and edited in Window movie maker v1.
There were few that were decently filmed, one had an weird premise about a world where you die if you are single (or everyone hates you, or something like that) but after 10 minutes it transformed into a bad singing musical.
Ended up voting for a documentary about Indian music. It was nicely filmed and had good sound :)
Muchas felicidades 📽🎬 Congrats 🍾
Congratulations!
Which film got the judges award? I watched a decent amount of them … well at least the first so many minutes before I couldn’t take it anymore.
Rising Wings.
Hmmm. Interesting. I don’t remember that one.
Big win! Awesome stuff.
Is the end goal to ideally get Freechsin on a major streaming platform or what?
Thats our hope but you never know. For now wer looking to get it seen and develop connections.
This is good news! Congratulations 🎊
💪
I just wanted to say thank you for all the effort you make to promote Hive. Winning the first festival is huge for us and what makes this film different from the other is the community behind it. Thanks again my lord 🙂
😉
Really? Wowwww
Congratulations!!!
Good work. Rehived.
Congrats!!!
Funny, I was just browsing through my mail to see if Liftoff had even announced the winners as I was afraid I missed it somehow. And went to the website, didn't find anything there either (or it was not easy to find, who knows) so I figured, you probably wrote about it. Just 12 hours ago though, which means they took their time to announce it..
This says a lot and I agree with you, the audience is what matters but it makes sense that they cannot give the audience prize to a movie with barely any votes, so in this case, the huge audience support made it impossible to win the judges prize, lol.
Either way, a nice step into the right direction to be seen by the masses, well done. As I wrote in my post, there was not 0 other movie I clicked on that managed to grab my attention for longer than a few minutes and I really made an effort to check the other ones too that's why my post was submitted so close to the end of the festival.
A well-deserved win!
Its that type of festival I guess, support new filmakers, give them a place to show their films.
I think the first festival was a big win for us, we definitely got noticed and thats what we need.
Definitely! I'm excited to hear more when the next festival will show the movie :)
Congrats on winning this first and important laurel.
Keep up the good work and you will win even much more!
That is the hope.
Congratulations 🎉🎉🎉💫🔥
Thank you. :)
LOL! We aim to be disruptive. This shows the power of the Hive community. I hope more people get to hear about it.
!BEER
This is just the start. First festival we entered. Hoping for many more.
🏅🙌🏻 Congratulations! That’s really good news! Fingers crossed this makes a lot of people aware of Hive, its ecosystem and great community with a unique history.
Absolutely. And the story itself i think is captivating as long as festivals arent apprehensive of new technologies and afraid of the crypto topic.

Greetings from somewhere place in LATAM
We have also seen for a long time that you are working hard to promote this platform worldwide, so it is a great pleasure for all of us.
Excellent! Well done! Let's bring in some more trophies!
I can still recall when presentation was given by the Freechain team in the HiveFest that was held in 2022. We've come really far since then and your deserve your flowers for being at the forefront.
The things you do to promote Hive are commendable. I also found a tweet you made about "Vibe on Hive" and that's going to be a very interesting adventure.
Please have a look at your DM on X. I left you a message about the Vibes Community.
I didn't watch it 🤪 then possibly i can do some better comment
Sounds great! Congrats on the recognition and best luck in your future competitions!
I love ❤️ how you did all this.
Where can we vote for the next film festival to have the film soon on Netflix. ;-)
