So this is me.
In case you're wondering what I'm doing here on Steemit..
I don't even know it myself actually. I was sort of forced by my steemaddicted husband..
So now I'm about to find out.. Who are you people? How does this work? What makes steemit so interesting that my husband spends more time with you than with me? Tell me please!

Well, hello @bettyboob and welcome to Steemit! "Sort of forced," were you? Not the first time I have heard that... those of us who are... ehmmm... "addicted" of course think we've found the greatest little oasis on the web.
But here's the basic idea why this place is cool-- it's a lot more authentic and interesting than the likes of Facebook, Instagram and all that; people here (if you take a little time to look around) actually have real conversations about real things, something more than someone posting a meme and a dozen people saying "me too" and adding smileys.
Now a lot of people talk about "making money," and that's true... but you live in the Netherlands and that's a pretty high living standard, but yes you can make money to go buy a beer or maybe a dinner. But part of the beauty of Steemit is also that people who live in places like Nigeria or Viet Nam are actually having their lives changed because $50 a month is a big change in their life.
But that's also part of what makes this fun and interesting... it's a truly GLOBAL community. Where other social media seems to group into little flocks of "we're all the same," here everybody connects with everybody else.
Anyways, welcome... just getting started on my day here on the West Cost, USA... although I am actually from Denmark, originally!

I think signing up to Steemit helped me understand where the addiction comes from. Definitely not as addicted as he is, but you'll see, it'll pull you in for a fun ride as well. Good to have you here :)AAaaahahaha! Perfect intro post @bettyboob. I couldn't relate more to all these questions you ask yourself. Steemit stole my boyfriend (abh12345) from me as well. But hey as they say, if you can't beat 'em join 'em, right?!

Not only can you make a decent amount of money and meet interesting people from all over the world, but STEEM is due to go up in value significantly, so everything you make is likely to rise in value. It's a great investment and you don't even have to put money in! :)

I'm afraid she's not building it for the two of us.. She'll use it herself so she can escape the two of us ;)A tiny house?! You must have already met our daugther, who's also new on Steemit! @mirthe. She's planning on building one!
@bettyboob, if your daughter loves tiny homes, we have probably met in spirit somewhere in our dreams. Just before this reply, I tried to find the link to my favorite tiny house tour. This isn't it, but it's close. When I find the real one, I'll send it to her. Meanwhile, now that you and your husband have finally located each other, enjoy!
That is so pretty! My daughter is planning to buy a bus and turn it into a little house to live in. She wants it all by next year!! Now please notice, she's 15 and doesn't have that much money. So my husband adviced her to go on Steemit because she's a really talented writer and a really creative person! Who knows...
@bettyboob - What I love about your family is its cohesive independence. The higher you fly, the closer you are. Your daughter will do everything she finds the nerve to do because you are teaching her to see the destination, navigate the obstacles, and enjoy the journey!
When I was 15, I finally faced the realization that the treehouse just wasn't gonna happen.

WOW this is so cool!! Now I want a tinyhouse myself! Haha! You shouldn't let go of your dream building a treehouse! Why not?!
My dream is having a swimming pool in the backyard. And than building a slide from our window, so you can wake up and take a swim immediately.
I still haven't convinced my husband @fitzgibbon unfortunately.. He thinks our 50m2 garden is too small for my plans..
@bettyboob - You are truly my kind of dreamer! The most thrilling amusement park ride of my childhood was the water slide. The roller coaster made my heart stop, but the water slide took me just where I wanted to go faster than I'd ever thought of getting there. (I think my mother snapped a picture of the look on my face.) Tell your husband @Fitzgibbon (if you can still find him in the kitchen) to hire a landscape architect to expand and redesign the garden around the new swimming pool and window slide with very tall shade plants covering the area. Then wake up, strip down, slide into the pool from the window and combine your morning swim with your morning shower! That's for the two of you.
Meantime, your daughter has the right idea-- build it and take it with you. The world is still a big and beautiful place (before someone blows it up), so live all over it if you can. "I'm with her."
