This is all a bit new to me, in a year on Steemit I've never had a post flagged before.
The guy that did it hasn't earned much, but has put $37 000 of his own $ into his wallet. And he likes to go round saying things like "I'm half whale and I'll take care of this"
I was just thinking, "OH shit, I'd better get some help, when one of my most on to it and full walleted followers came and sorted things out.
I hate this flagging thing and if you ever have any of your friends getting this done to them, let me know and I'll do what I can. I've actually taken to unflagging anything that's been flagged lately if I have enough hitting power to uncensor it. Whatever it is - I don't really care, I just hate flagging!
I do get a few comments flagged, but never by anyone with enough power to not be overcome. When I vote my comments back to visible the flagger often removes their flag - so these days if I look like I'm up-voting my own comments, that's often why... (I know that's ironic coming from someone who upvoted 1200 of their own comments before the hard fork)
In this case the half whale did a 100% flag on every comment I did on my post. Most of them I have reposted and deleted the original, but I've left a few for LOL's :)
Up until this week I've generally aimed to be all positive on Steemit, but I must admit I feel like I've run into a years worth of total clowns in one week and I just found myself trolling some poor sap who thinks I am a tool of satan (666) - and then I thought "time to take a deep breath and remember Steemit is different", or I'll start attracting them flies.
Not the biggest fan of flags myself, though I have seen cases where it was needed, a couple of real dickhead trolls that just needed to get gone. But people who use it like this jackass did, drive me nuts. Especially the way they were with Deb, that really rubbed me wrong.
I saw that ausbitbank came and took care of it. I have some people I could go to in these situations too. I appreciate your offer and that goes the other way too, I will always help my friends :)
Yeah, that's probably wise, there are some flies around. But I still do believe steemit is different, there are enough great people here to create the environment I prefer to hang out in :)
He overestimated the ability of people to recognise satire without having it spelt out. He has now corrected it. In all of his other posts he is quite open and transparent about who he is. Yes, it was an error in judgement to not spell out the satire from the start. But have you also flagged all the other fake intro posts? This one is over the top to make the point.

I'm gobsmacked - since I last looked there has been a huge pile more self righteous comments - I thought up to a few months ago most people on Steemit had more than two brain cells, but not any more.
And I used to think more followers was a good thing, but now I'm starting to think it isn't!

Then, I read it, and read all the insane comments from people who don't know you on here, and who don't recognize satire, and it got even funnier. I don't know why that wasn't obvious to everyone else. You didn't even post it under a different account. You posted it with your own, so clearly you were doing a satire post.
I've noticed that many of the newcomers here are not nearly as nice as the "old timers." This used to be a relatively nice, friendly, helpful, peaceable community. However, I've seen plenty of posts from people who haven't been here very long at all that are just filled with hate and negativity, and just plain bad attitudes. I've been dealing with my own personal troll today over on the Steempocalypse thread....some newcomer who wants to dictate who I do and do not upvote, and who is creepily looking into my upvoting history and questioning it. I basically just upvote people in my news feed, except for when I have a whole lot of spare time, when I might go into the "New" section and upvote some people who are new to me. What is wrong with people? Steemit is not as nice of a place as it used to be. You're still one of the good ones, you and @kiwideb. :)

Yes I seem to be seeing a few real dickheads on Steemit lately, but I guess that happens when it goes more mainstream - usually I just mute and ignore them, I've always aimed to avoid serious argument, but I must admit when they start quaking I struggle to contain myself!
Lol! So true. I feel the same way, too. I try to rise above the fray, but sometimes, I just have to say something, especially on the (so far) rare occasion it is directed at me. I try to avoid controversy, but sometimes it finds you regardless of what you do, because there are people who thrive on it, and look for reasons to be mean. I don't care to interact with those people (except for telling them off, and then muting them).

satire doesn't try and pass itself off as a large chested/beautiful woman to get upvotes. There was nothing anywhere within this post to indicate that it was satire. Good satire has a purpose; a target. I could identify NEITHER within this post, I had only seen someone posting with the "IntroduceYourself" tag, when CLEARLY this user is not new, nor is the user the person they are trying to pretend to be via the photos and accompanying text.
The OP should have posted links to websites, including, but not limited to sources for the images and perhaps the intended target of the satire. This is obfuscation, and preying on gullibility for upvotes/$$$. The other thing that should have been done is proper use of tags.

Yes it is me - I saw three versions of the same fake post so I did a pisstake of them, but then some people flipped out and flagged my post. One of those fake posts earned over $80
They didn't flag the original fake posts though.
My point was to show how little background checking a lot of the new Steemers actually do.
It all worked better than I ever intended, but I didn't mean to trick any of my real followers such as yourself.

Steemit needs to build something into the system to deal with this type of user.
When I did a post about flagging two months ago I'd never actually had a post flagged, only comments - so this was a gap in my Steemit experience - I'm just glad I have friends with some voting power.
My post was inspired by seeing that happen to a new user who only had about $20 in his wallet and only about 30 followers.
