Byzantine music is the most amazing and beautiful music in the world! Music from the heavens. I'm a Hindu and I found this beautiful. @liondani If i were to hear one last song before I die this would be it the recording made by Capella Romana, a fantastic choral group, of an ancient Byzantine hymn called Cherubic Hymn in Mode 1 (you can find it on YouTube). The engineers found a way to reproduce the sound of Hagia Sophia, an ancient church opened in 535 or so in which this chant was performed. The sound of it is amazing: it’s like Gregorian chant or Middle Eastern chant over a Tibetan bass.
I am an Orthodox Christian, and I love what you have said hear.
Being αρμενικός and a son of a deacon, this was even more special to me. Thank you.
The candle represent the light of God or specifically the light of Christ .

Yeah. I have once listened to those hymns and honestly it was as pure as (I can't really find the words).
I once asked my friend that attends one of those organisations and she told me what they normally say before those cherubic hymns.
I can't forget it tho, "Let us set aside the cares of life
That we may receive the King of all,
Who comes invisibly escorted by the Divine Hosts."
And it is true.
When we set asides our worries, lay down our fears and pay full attention to God, we would surely experience something ecclesiastical.

I believe in God, the Father almighty,creator of heaven and earth.I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary.He suffered under Pontius Pilate,was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to hell.The third day he rose again from the dead.He ascended to heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty.From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church,
the communion of saints,the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,and the life everlasting. Amen.

The Cherubic Hymn is the essential cherubikon (Gr: χερουβικόν), or tune of the holy messengers, sung amid each Divine Liturgy of the year except for the ceremonies of the Presanctified Gifts and those of Holy Thursday and Holy Saturday. It happens after the Gospel perusing and is hindered by the Great Entrance. The Cherubic Hymn was added to the Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom by request of the Emperor Justinian close to the finish of the 6th century.

"Cherubic hymn" this is the one of the most important and main chant in the Russian Orthodox service.
This chant was written in 2005 and has been perfomed in a Cathedral temple of Vyatka (Kirov) by local choir.

It all comes down to faith, doesn't it? No matter how smart you are, you still depend on believing. Why is that? The bible is quite open to interpretation, so how do I discern the wrong ones from the right? Which interpretations do I choose to bet my life on? God has given us brains, so we should use them to find the truth. What we have are the scriptures and observations. If they contradict, there is something wrong with my understanding, and I must keep searching.
What do you think?
Very good video. We are people of different religions and castes in the world but ours but our peace of mind is always in purity.

Heaven......mmmm. Sounds a lot like hell to me. You can keep your club if it's real. I want to be 'moral' for my own reasons, not because of a nightmare 'reward' or endless punishment. Too much harm has been done by religion. Supporting any of them is madness in my opinion. It would seem the 'God' is more than happy to sit by whilst religion is used to steal, rape and murder thousands of innocent people. The 'harmless' rills and streams become the mighty river.....you can't have the people destroying monster part of religion without all the 'harmless' rural communities. Faith is a mental trap. Think for yourself. Concentrate on making the world a better place for those you love. There's no higher purpose or reward. How do you know that the real 'super-being' test isn't to reject religion and do what's right on your own two feet?
We are now beginning The Liturgy of the Faithful, the third and last part of the Divine Liturgy, which commences with the "Great Entrance" while the Choir chants the "Cherubic Hymn."
"Grant, that being ever protected by Thy power, to Thee we may ascribe glory, to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, now and for ever, and from all Ages to all Ages."
The Priest then unfolds the "Antimension" (meaning: "instead of the table"). On this Antimension we see imprinted the pious Nicodemus and Joseph of Arimathea taking down the Body of Jesus from the Cross. The Antimension usually contains the relics of a Martyr. The Antimension brings us back to the days of the early persecutions, during which the Divine Liturgy was celebrated in various and remote places, catacombs, and so forth, not having one designated Place and Table as we have today. It is the same today, even though we do have established places of worship, we still use the "Antimension" as a reminder that the Church of Christ is not confined to any certain place or section. It also contains the Signature of the Bishop authorizing the conduct of the Divine Liturgy.
The laity begins to sing the Cherubic Hymn:
"Let us, who mystically represent the cherubim and sing the thrice-holy hymn to the life-giving trinity, lay aside all worldly cares, that we may receive the King of all, invisibly escorted by the angelic hosts. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia."
This hymn invites us to walk with Jesus Christ on the path of martyrdom that leads to the sacrifice on the Cross, setting aside every worldly care we may have. Saint John Chrysostom says, "The soul of a Christian who has not learned how to become alienated from worldly cares during the Divine Liturgy, will never be able to admire the all-heavenly... Mind and heart will not be glorified in splendor by the inconceivable grandeur of the heavenly Altar and the angelic hymns" (P.G. 47, 414). Now is the time to set aside all worldly cares and focus exclusively on Christ our Savior. This includes all the thoughts of family, our jobs, all our worries, and our trials and tribulations. Fill the mind instead with Christ: "Lord have mercy on me." To be so attentive as to shed our worldly cares demands that we adopt a contrite state––one of extreme humility.

While i am not orthodox, i still actually get the sacred purpose of the chant. I most especially loved the pure pictures that described the life of Christ while he was with us on earth. His selfless love is the reason we have the grace of God today. Jesus deserves to be celebrated every day in our lives...not just on the holy days.

It was a great feeling seeing these kind of post sir @liondani. I'm a Roman Catholic. These post are perfect as a reminders for the coming Holy week which is on next week. A week that we all remember the great love of our saviour Jesus Christ to us. Taht he died on the cross for saving us. Thanks for sharing sir @liondani.
Yes it is very much a chant reminds me of the old Gregorian chants. It is quite beautiful and often wonder how they do it. I listened to to full 28 minutes. Again thanks @liondan

@liondani, Absolutely interesting to hear Orthodox Chant sharing. Giving me most inspiration via listening. I checked how to learn those tones via web and founded best educative one.
Here's 08 Stichera tones indeed. I have no longer experience how to study. But I think near by my catholic father give good help. This hymn invites us to walk with Jesus Christ on the path of martyrdom that leads to the sacrifice on the Cross, setting aside every worldly care we may have.
Lot of Cherubic Hymn's found from myself and every once given inspiration and I wanna go deepest world via expand my mind soul. Sure...I can control my mind and then thoughts through Cherubic Hymn. When the choir intones the other-worldly supplications of the Cherubikon, even the most theologically unschooled person present in the church can discern that a kind of awe inspiring, wondrous veil falls over the worshipers gathered together. Actually you change my mind before one hour and given especially thanks to you. I'll learn more and start a studying. God bless you.. Amen.
