To this day, at least 65 brick-and-mortar stores are using Keychain Store to receive payments in HIVE and HBD.
Based on feedback, we are introducing two new features today:
Currency conversion
Stores can now generate invoices in HIVE and HBD by entering the value of the goods in their fiat currency. Keychain uses the Coingecko API to convert it into HIVE or HBD seamlessly.
In this example the HBD price is calculated from Euros
Sharing invoices
To enable remote payments, we added a Share button to send invoices using any messaging App:
Pressing the link will normally redirect directly to Keychain and proceed with the payment confirmation. If Keychain is not installed, or if the link is opened in an App that doesn't support redirects (Messenger for instance), it will show this page instead:
Future updates
Keychain Store is still a pretty basic App, but we will improve over time as we receive feedback from its users. We are looking into generating and sharing receipts once the transactions have been confirmed.

Very cool! The currency conversion feature will give merchants the peace of mind that it will be accurately priced based on what they know is the fiat value of the goods and services offered.
I just want to clarify, the conversion to HBD… is based on Coingecko? I noticed that HBD’s price shown in coingecko is unstable compared to Hive’s Internal Market. Will this be an issue?
I'm also surprised to see CoinGecko. I'm not very active, but for the last few years, every single time I check the coingecko's price estimation, it's very noticeably different than on exchanges like bittrex, binance, well, ok, bittrex is dead now, I didn't got used to that yet :) but I'd really like to hear others' opinion on that - because - if it really is that bad as it seems to me(*), why it's still used?
(*) let's say, typical 7-10 to even 20% difference? Long time ago I tried to guess what's the deal - and it seemed to prefer the prices on something like 2-3 exchanges with very odd prices, some new china-based exchanges I never heard aboout, while ~10 other exchanges I've seen for years all had their hive/hbd prices mostly equal.
The conversion feature looks like a game-changer, awesome! It's going to help a lot people which use currencies with a completely different value than the US dollar.
I still don't understand why developers include the HBD price shown by coingeko or coinmarketcap, which is the one Upbit has.
I hope the day will come when we have a developer that shows the actual HBD (internal market) price. At the moment this tool is of no use, it only causes confusions to be generated.
Do you know by any chance why those sites focus on this odd pricing on upbit? I hardly know this one, I've never used it. Why the price is so weird and why coingecko picks it? Is it some, for example, china-only market, accessible only to them, that's their actual price for hive, and it has so gigantic volume/24h that coingecko picks it as the best estimate, or something like that? I remember wondering about ridiculous hive prices on coingecko -years- ago, it feels insane to me to not fix that "obvious error" and even more insane to actually rely on coingecko for hive if the price is "still wrong".. so... maybe that's not an error, price is right, and it's just I'm dumb not to see something?
It is because coingeko uses the CEX apis and Upbit is the only one that has HBD listed. There they manipulate the price for them and it only serves to confuse.
Someone at Hive should develop a dapp that shows the price of HBD from the domestic market, they can even average between the different swaps. However they go the easy way of connecting to the coingeko API even if it is wrong.
Imagine if inside Hive this bug exists, how an external investor could discover it. On the contrary, they would think that HBD is less stable than it is, since in Upbit the price is more volatile.
And of course, to ask coingeko to show the real price, you first have to offer the tool that gives it.
Wow so that's why it's stuck with it.. I remember now-dead Bittrex was a bit special and very handy for me with that it was one of the very few exchanges at the time that also listed HBD. I see how easily Upbit can seem to be the single 'source of truth' simply since HBD now listed by none, or almost none.
Thanks!
Awesome adds! Keep on going!
I am still facing issue with biometric login on the app.
Another great addition and good to see that now keychain is adding features that are good for merchants. Great work team
Those are two nice utilities, I hope the keychain continues to improve. We need more improvements in Hive.
Good utility for the users to accept payment and generate invoices the easiest way possible. As always good work done by @keychain
I had no idea this was even a thing. Pretty cool to find out about this "real world" use
