Was browsing on Netflix the other day and noticed a weird cartoon pop up called Disenchantment?
While watching the trailer I noticed the art work being a huge simpsons fan. Turns out its from the creators of the Simpsons, lol how about that.
Anyways I'm going to give it a watch and see how it is, anyone watch it yet?
I gotta say I absolutely adore this show! Just finished binging it a day or two ago. Not only is the trio of the main characters done great, what I love more about it is the recurring side characters and their interactions with our heroes. When I first realized everyone will think the demon is a talking cat and dismiss him as being just that, it made me smirk and giggle every time someone interacted with him for a couple of episodes.
I did enjoy it for what it was, I had no expectations of it being a show about three outcasts / band of misfits going on an adventure, so it didn't bother me that the trailer may have been a teeny bit misleading in that aspect.
The king character was the only one that felt annoying to me, mostly due to how he is voiced, but his ark in the first season made me actually really feel for him and even like him.
Overall, to me the first season of Disenchantment was a huge success and it brought me back to the part of my childhood, ages 8 to 13, when I was watching the Simpsons religiously together with my older brother and cousin every summer as we would spend those at the countryside and go on our own adventures through the surrounding woods.
P.S. Watch out for the little background details, mostly what's written on the signs, I found those quite funny as well.
I really wanted to enjoy this one, watched the whole thing. I love all animated shows, especially for adult audiences. But it was so stale. The jokes I had heard 3000 times before and heard them done better in other shows. Every time I thought they were gonna actually do something funny the pointed out the "crazy" thing 10 times. That said Eric Andre is amazing and is the only thing that made it watchable, which I am pretty sure that is the case cuz they let Eric ad lib alot of lines. I loved older Simpsons and Futurama, but this feels like grasping at straws and giving an old medieval episode of the Simpsons a full series in funding. There are so many NEW groundbreaking animated shows from NEW (newer than groening) artists (Bojack Horseman, Big Mouth, Rick and Morty, Steven universe) that this one is just a hard pass for me.
Steem on!Thanks @robinhany
I've watched Bojack, liked the 1st season but didnt care for the second. The others I've watched here and there. I've never really been big into modern day animated series even the better ones out there. Thanks for the opinion though was nice to hear :)
This show is great. Some of the jokes were haphazardly placed. Some were weirdly political and didn’t fit. But the characters are fun and greatly voice acted. The animation is familiar but new. There was a semblance of a story but each episode was more like Groening’s more recognized works where each episode was more or less a one shot even though part of the greater story. The main cast bounced off each other pretty well, especially between the cynical and never well meaning Lucy and the blissfully ignorant and lovable Elfo. Bean is the only one I really saw character development with episode to episode but always maintained a charm I don’t think I see too much in animation I can’t quite place but enjoy seeing. That’s my 2 cents on it. Only 10 episodes at around 30 min a piece and with the history the creator has there’s bound to be a character or gag an episode you’ll like.
I watched the first episode and it wasn't too bad actually a few good funny jokes and overall much better than modern day Simpsons and the last bit of futurama. I'm going to finish the rest of the season and see where it goes from there :P
Ok, I get why some people hate it and some people like it. The adventure part doesnt really start until the last episode, and the episodes before that are more like an adult-themed disney channel sitcom than what the trailer makes it look like it will be (which is more of an adventure with an unlikely band of "heroes").
However, it looks like they are moving away from that and towards more of a story and adventure theme with higher stakes for the next 10 episodes (as the first season is 10 episodes and they were signed onto a deal for 20 episodes in total). All in all, not a bad show, but much like Futurama, starts off being much more light and fluffy (story-wise) than it later ends up being by being focussed on daily life and small upsets rather than big, world changing events that the later show covers. All in all, not bad and shows potential, but the beginning may be a little boring and focussed on teenaged-girl problems than some would like, with the worst offenders of this trope being the episode where she tries getting a job, and the one where her father is away and she throws a party that no guy wants to dance with her at.
I just got done watching it I really like the show I'm going to do a review on this week I already did a reaction to it . I really like the concept and the characters are pretty funny
