In my short time on Steemit I've noted with sadness that some nice folks suddenly disappear from the platform. They are seemingly happy campers one day, and then gone the next. I get that. Rather than leaving, I am choosing to see what happens when I become essentially passive while I recharge -- it may be a 365 day experiment. Can a steem-reputation sink to zero? I guess I'll find out. On day 1 I'm at 54.858
I've got a wealth of photos to share, but the platform has no shortage of great photos. My trial balloon to test the platform as a place to launch music interviews convinced me that the view count per post isn't adequate at this stage of development for publishing new interviews. I think we will need to grow from the musical artist side first. However, it was refreshing to know that a few music lovers are out there who were pleased to discover what I shared. For me, music, in the right hands, is something that connects us to a higher plane of existence. Magic is real, and music is magic.
So my experiment will be to simply share some music and beauty each day, things you might not know, initially from musicians I've interviewed. If anyone is interested, you can "meet" them as people by listening to my interviews. Once that is covered, I'll share other music you may or may not know. Otherwise I'll be passive. I'm using the tags "life" and "music".
- Day 1 Mike Seal

Beautypics check your wallet, I just transferred 2 SD to you for being the first to comment.
This passivity thing is already going all wrong ;-)
Or maybe it did work, in that case you get 4 SB
:-)
@roused

and yeah how u got upvote rando is saying me that its sleeping isnt it ? :/
I just checked my wallet, they sent it back to me because the limit is now 0.5 and I sent them 2 SD. So it worked out okay.
ohh :) but they commented you got upvote where the fuck is upvote lol ? :D
Must be a programming error. I immediately sent the comment, then discovered I exceeded the 0.5, and returned the 2SD. Only Randowhale could change the comment.
thanks a lot my friend😊😊😊👩👩👩👩
I'm looking forward to see your music posts, if they are interviews or music. But for sure I will be missing your great "other stuff" posts, I always enjoyed to see here. Well it's only an 365-days experiment and so I can look forward to see them again in a year.
Have a great week, my friend!
Thanks my friend, it's great people like you who kept me from simply going away completely. You have a great week too!
Happy you're not going for good! I just can give my point of view which is that you are an enrichment for this platform and us all, its users!
Thank you, and you know I feel the same way about you. I hope I will continue to see some of the friendly folks here on this little daily post, so my voting power can be used on their comments. And occasionally I will have some surprise rewards too.
Music is really my first love, and it feels right -- at least for now.
I see that now, didn't notice it before. I think one shall always do what matters most to him. I will stay close and wait to see your music-posts. I liked the todays, played even some accustic guitar myself years ago.
I think, your friends among the Steemians will not forget you and try to keep your reputation up! :)
I chose to do commenting and vote till my steem power makes a difference, then I just keep on commenting.
That's a wonderful approach for the steemit platform. Good on you my friend.
Hey @roused, I just wanted to say that I really feel relieved, that you're not leaving completely. Your posts are really a great enrichment for this community and I somehow regret that I wasn't able to always give your work the attention it deserves.
On the other hand, as others already mentioned, this whole platform is still an early experiment and desperately needs some improvements. For example the long awaited possibilty to follow certain interests. I'm pretty sure your interviews would be much more successfull , if there'd be the possibility to follow #jazz #music or #interview tags.
But steemit has it's advantages. Besides meeting interesting people from all over the world, the posts usually are ranking very high in google. Provided you are using the right keywords (in your headings) tags and links, you could really push your homepage (or any other linked site). This is really an advantage of steemit, that you can make use of.
Finally thanks a lot for pointing me to the great guitar player Mike Seal, his skills are amazing and after I've listened to all the clips, I'm even listening to your interview now.
I'm wishing you much success with your upcoming interview on "All about jazz" and I will follow your music recommendations as often as I will find the time to do so.
Thanks buddy, these comments are exactly what makes Steemit so great. The discourse and interaction are so different from other social media. A cyber-community used to seem like a stretch to me, but I must admit even after only this short time on Steemit, there are indeed cyber friendships and communities.
I think your tag idea is great. In terms of music, my conviction is growing that the FB & Twitter model of people following and gravitating around their favorite artists is perhaps the most promising way forward for Steemit. By simply doing on Steemit what they already do on other social media, it creates a powerful & perpetual self sustaining loop. Fans upvote their favorite artist, he gets the lions share of the reward, but the curating fans are also rewarded. And it continues in the commenting -- it is a sweet deal for artists & fans.
You are right about Stemmit appearing on google, I got an email from an artist this morning who must have seen my post on a google alert. I'll post that today in my next post.
Yes I agree, Mike is a tremendous talent. BTW, his wife is also a great musician. Here she is with her sister on German TV last year. Mike's wife is the sister with the light hair.
You'll have to watch this on YouTube, embedding isn't activated.
Thanks too for mentioning my AAJ interview.

If anyone is interested in reading it, here is the link.
If you want to hear it with music included you can find it on my site
Thanks so much for the support and encouragement!
(PS the Penciltember drawings are awesome!)
You are more than welcome! I guess the main difference to other social media sites is, that we all own a share of steemit and therefore really care about the development aka bringing it to the next level.
I really would like to see this platform evolving into a tool for creative people like musicians, writers and visual artists. Maybe there will be different platforms built on the same blockchain one day, that serve the special needs of every of these groups. (For example musicians would need an embedded musicplayer and the possibility to sell there works directly to their fans.) Everything that helps bypassing middlemen, who just fill their pockets, would be a great improvement in my opinion.
I'm glad, that the google ranking algorithm already worked for your post about Barbara Dennerlein. Maybe the next mail you will get is from the amazing Lovell Sisters ;-)
Next up I will listen to the McLaughlin interview. Maybe you want to fix the link to AAJ site in your comment above, it currently just leads to google...
Great comment, deserving of a boomerang! (hope it works) Yes the embedded music player would be great. Wouldn't it be great if we could use our Steem cash to buy music!!!! That would be huge. Yes Larkin Poe are great. Thank you for catching the link, AAJ changed the title a little bit and that changed the link.
Cool news, the interview has already passed 3000 and it's only noon on the East coast in America.
Absolutely, that could be a game changer. Have you heard about Steemsongs, a project by professional musician @thisisbenbrick - I guess he already sold some of his music for steem.
And congrats for the impressive number of readers at AAJ - Keep it up!
No I didn't know that, but very glad to hear it.
Yes it's going well on AAJ, approaching 4,500.

Their music is not my particular taste, but it is interesting for me to see a band with only austistic members.
Awww yeah! Jeff got himself some young cats! What a great band.
Right, they did a CD that I thought was one of the best that year, I think it 2015. Fantastic trio. Mike is now touring with the great Jerry Douglas.
"The Claw" by Jerry Reed
Flawless!!!
Yes, he is an extraordinary player, with a very unusual technique which he explains in our interview.
I can totally understand your feelings... I know Steemit is on BETA, but I have mixed feelings about the whole Steemit project.
I like the "mannequin" blog, but sometimes it's a big effort to do all these posts... especially now, that I just started a new job.
I think I'm going to try to post 2-3 times a week...Hey @roused... it's Lucas commenting your post (not Steemitri, haha).
I like your music-experiment... and I didn't know Mike Seal... oh he plays great!
Ciao ciao
Lucas
First, congrats on the new job!!! I wish you luck, satisfaction, and success. Yes I can imagine those Steemitri posts are really a lot of work, but your posts are some of the best I've come across on the platform -- they are so funny that I can't put them on "pause." Sorry about the Stemmitri's crypto downturn. I read the Chinese govt. is putting the brakes on ICOs. I hope things work out for the crypto community -- a lot of nice folks in that community.
My biggest problem with Steemit was that it felt like it was turning into a job. I didn't want to miss upvoting people who had helped me along, you know what I mean. Also, music is my thing, I enjoy photography, but there are so many great photographers here already.
This way, I hope some steemit buddies will come here so I can use my upvote on their comments. It is my way of supporting them, and they would be helping my music idea.
Glad you stopped by! Alan aka @roused
Danke Alan!
Es hat tolle Leute hier und du bist einer von denen ;-)
Evviva la musica!
Falls du mal in der Schweiz bist, meld dich ;-)
Ciaoooooo
Resteemed :-)
Wow thanks, Christmas came early this year :-) !!!
