Something rubs me the wrong way about this. Here's why:
SLUT is a patriarchal term used to shame women's sexual behavior and control their sexual life. We can agree on this. (What is very weird to me is how easy women embraced slut-shaming each other as well, perpetuating a system that hurts them the most..)
So when you use "slut" in your name you kind of take back control over the word and use it as a weapon.
But when you say "I'm the pickiest slut" it sounds to me like you say that sluts are not normally picky ( again, shaming) and that "you are not like all the other non picky sluts". Which again, just perpetuates the whole concept.
I know it was just a joke, but wanted to mention this :)
Ah, that's the beauty of language and perception. Had I said "pickiest lady", it wouldn't rub anything wrong. But as soon as a define myself as a slut by my own standards, being picky AND a slut becomes a kind of oxymoron to anyone still perceiving slut as a derogatory term.
I've explained this a bunch of times, but to me being a techslut means that I am a sucker for tech stuff and innovation turns me on. In sexual terms, I define sluttiness as healthy promiscuity without the fear of criticism. Yeah, I fuck. Yeah, I love it. I am a slut. A pink, picky, geeky, tricky slut. :)
Unfortunately we do not own the words meaning just by sheer will. SLUT is mostly derogatory unless used playful "you SLUT!" between friends.
" a picky lady" has different implications :)
I salut your slut definition. I guess that makes me one too :D
See? Now you're getting it. This is how we start owning the words. Also, I like to say that the difference between a whore and a slut is that whores do what they do for money (or other value) and because they kinda have to. Sluts do what they do because they enjoy it and aren't ashamed to. Whatever it might be. Technology, writing, music, sex... whore vs slut.
I have very very high standards. Or as I like to say: I am pickiest slut you'll ever meet.
