The MAGAZINE returns this week with issue #2, after skipping a week whilst I was visiting England. A much needed break in the company of a dear friend does wonders for the soul!
In case you missed the first issue, you can view it here.
Also a quick mention - I was a guest 2 weeks ago on @pennsif's Alternative Lifestyle Radio Show on Fri 9th, where I discussed various food and health related topics, so if you're interested in listening to that my 15 minute slot begins about 1:03. I was pretty nervous before-hand, but I'm very glad I did it because I believe that taking courage in spite of nerves to be a great way of strengthening character. The audience was extremely supportive, as was @pennsif, and I encourage any of you to give it a try for yourselves if you have any way to contribute to his Alternative Lifestyle Show... what's the worst that can happen? :-)
The purpose of the Make It Healthy Project is to share truth, knowledge and good-health-inspiration with the Steemit community. This includes physical, mental, spiritual and social aspects.
This MAGAZINE will be issued weekly and will bring together all the wonderful 'healthy happenings' within the Steemit community - tips, inspiration, motivation, recipes.... All kinds of good stuff! It will surely evolve as the weeks go on and I get chance to add more. I will be looking to do interviews with Steemians too, so if you have a project of your own or something you particularly wish to bring attention to, please let me know.
This is not a sole mission, but a collaborative effort involving any Steemians who wish to share their knowledge and expertise (scroll down for details on how to get involved).
To cut a long story short – in Aug 2016 my personal blog was primarily concerned with sharing recipes for homemade healthy alternatives to (poisonous) processed products. I then took over hosting the Steemit Culinary Challenge, and through that my ideas graduated to a project promoting all areas of health.
I'm a wife and mother, who cares deeply about the health of my family and indeed the health of everyone! The thing I realised quite profoundly several years ago was: health is life... literally. If you don't have your health... what good is anything else?
At the moment we have an abundance of food and recipe posts (which is wonderful) but please feel free to share anything related to good health... let your imagination go wild! I'm afraid I don't have time to read and comment on all posts, but please don't let that put you off sharing. It's all appreciated and all very valuable!
To see all tagged community posts from the past 7 days, please click HERE.
To see all historical community posts since the launch of the project, please click HERE.
All posts tagged with #makeithealthy get re-steemed, and then remain available for browsing through any time you like by visiting the @make-it-healthy page.
I will be cataloging posts as soon as I get chance, but for now at least they are all saved and available on the @make-it-healthy blog and not lost somewhere in Steemit history! The account exists solely for the purpose of storing community posts, so if you want to 'unfollow' or 'mute', then that will save you getting stacks of posts cluttering your feed when I re-steem them! All will be available through this magazine, so you won't miss out on anything if you click the links above.

What if time spent creating these health-inspiring posts wasn't simply a chance for SBD or peer appreciation, but also held the possibility of changing lives for the better? Of prolonging lives because you shared crucial information? Actually keeping people alive and well! How's that for motivation!!!
If you don't find time to be healthy, you'll have to make time to be sick. There's far too much unnecessary sickness in the world, so let's do something about it, even if it's only one recipe, or one tip, or one good-health-inspiring post. Let's give the world a helping hand. Together, let's Make It Healthy.
Please remember INCLUDE A LINK TO THIS PROJECT in your posts and spread the word! Many thanks x

Wow what a nice summary, and I like your intention very well. And as everyone knows, a healthy mind lives in a healthy body. And I always like to support other blogs !! A very nice project your magazine xD
Absolutely @montaquilaa, I don't think we can call ourselves truly healthy if only our body is well but our mind is sick, or vice-versa! We're so used to dividing and categorising everything that we often forget it's all a whole. Many thanks for your support, I'm really happy you like the magazine :-)
You just planted 1.16 tree(s)!

wow so many excellent posts! thanks for featuring ours! love your graphics, too :) always love the hardworking curators <3 who bring us within the steemit community together!!
That's the mission @mountainjewel!... I was always more interested in community than reward, and as there's so many amazing health posts being shared I'm really happy to bring some of it together in this way. Also thanks for complimenting the graphics... you're actually the first person to comment on them! Lots of fun for me, and my hope is that it makes nicer viewing for readers :-) Many thanks for your very lovely comments!
What an awesome list of posts! I am familiar with a few and will be heading over to check out the others. Thank you for picking one of my posts to feature in your issue. I am amazed at all the hard work others do to help promote us newbies and find good content to share. Thank you so very much!
You're most welcome @qberryfarms! I think your post is wonderful and am happy to share it! Plus I had such a warm welcome and lots of encouragement when I was a newbie myself, that I wish for others to have similar experience. For me it's much more about community than rewards, and spreading word about good health and healthy lifestyles :-)
thanks for featuring me among all these amazing posts
You're very welcome! Great post :-)

Thanks very much for your continued support @erikah. And I love your homegrown veggies posts, so I look forward to seeing more!
I will always support healthy living and eating! Gardening season is on, soon we'll start planning things and I will be posting more, you can count on me 😊
Excellent! I can't wait to see all the good things you grow! :-)
Another great roundup this week! There are quite a few I haven't seen yet, so I've got some work to do checking all of the posts out! I'm sure I will enjoy the journey. Thank you once again for your wonderful support in sharing a few of my posts. It really means so much, and I'm so honored to be in this community!
Thank you, thank you! You know, you're such a regular commenter in my posts that I noticed myself looking out for you now! Think I'd miss you if you didn't pop up! (oops, now the pressure's on... hehe). But seriously, always a pleasure to read your thoughtful comments :-) I too feel honoured to be in this community.
No pressure at all. ;) I very much enjoy the interaction!
I was so engrossed in reading this that I almost forgot to upvote it! Another excellent edition, and thanks so much for featuring my post :)
I was also going to comment on how good the graphics are - @mountiainjewel said it first!
Aw thanks so much @natubat! Ha, yeah I sometimes almost forget to vote when I'm engrossed! Not that I blame you, there are ever so many amazing posts that really grab your full attention. Thank goodness for Steemit, otherwise we'd never all meet each other and share all the good things we know and do! Also, thank you, I put a lot of work into making it pretty :-)
I really like this idea of this magazine you created and all the amazing and interesting posts you mentioned here.
Really cool and I'll definitely will be checking this magazine out.
Thanks very much @joalvarez! I intend to keep expanding the project, but thankfully the magazine seems to be one good way of sharing many great posts from the community that might be missed otherwise. I welcome you to tag any of your own health-related posts with #makeithealthy if you so wish, and be part of the project too! Your support is much appreciated :-)
Thanks for mentioning my post! What a great collection. I will follow.
You're welcome @kittyandcheese, I enjoyed your Moody Monday post and look forward to more! I like posts that show the real human behind it :-)
So many posts, that will keep me busy for the next week till the next issue just trying to read them all.
A few there that might help me with a little issue I was having, (not knowing what to bake for a school thing, they were asking if some parents could please do either vegan or gluten free, wanted something fun, some of those recipes above might do the trick. )
Ah, interesting you mentioned that, as I have been toying with a few ideas about gathering specific recipes/ideas through the project somehow, maybe a contest, though I'm reluctant to do anything that time-consuming after the Steemit Culinary Challenge took all my time up. But for example, I have a friend who supports someone with type 2 diabetes and she asked me if I had any low GI recipes, which I didn't specifically, but then I thought why not put the request to the community? That could work, maybe?! And now you get me thinking about expanding that idea, so perhaps a different request every week, including vegan, gluten free, and all kinds of particular things. Hmmmm... I'll see if I can find a not-so-time-consuming way to run a contest, because not only is it fun for people to join in, but it'd be a great way of getting recipes/ideas for specific things people from the community keep asking about.
That would be a great idea, was going to do a post to ask people for idea's also, but I think there's a few posts that might fit the requirement (as the need to last a day before the event, so that needs to be considered, as a great one was put out a few weeks ago, but that has fresh fruit, don't think that would keep in this heat, not being in the fridge.)
It would be great to have an idea to go to when in need, when the kids like to leave the notices to the due day to give you to whip something up.
Yes, some quick-to-prepare recipes would be wonderful for so many parents! Good point too about temperature being an issue for fresh fruit (not in Ireland though haha). I will put this idea on my to-do list and hopefully get something started soon :-) But I wouldn't want to take your idea if it's something you wanted to get going yourself? Perhaps (if time allows) you could do some kind of weekly "What's in the Lunch Box?" post, so a mixture of what you give your children already, and also requests for other ideas/recipes from the community? Umm.. you could give a percentage of the post rewards to the recipes you like the best! Or something like that!
That's a cool idea, no not at all your not taking my idea, we both had the same thought.
I have so many ideas for posts that I haven't been doing the issues I've started.
Was thinking along that idea, but making from recipes from Steemit and websites, like a Trying Recipes from websites series. That would be neat for that idea to be more interact with the steemit community also. Still on the list is made in New Zealand, so many idea's get to the computer have writers block.
Hey @woman-onthe-wing, it's @biglipsmama, using the-curators account, just wanted to swing by using this account to let you know that we added your link to this post and mentioned about the #makeithealthy tag in our latest issue.
You're very kind @biglipsmama, that's greatly appreciated! Sounds like you have a good lot of ideas yourself, that's wonderful :-) Any way I can help out, even if it's just promoting anything you want to get going you can count on me!
Thanks for having me! :) I'll repeat it one more time: brilliant idea! will hopefully participate in every issue
Thank you again! Your support is most appreciated and motivating too!
Thank you for @woman-onthe-wing appreciating my post
You're welcome! :-)
Another great line up of great health post! Really love this new initiative... also I'm glad you had some soul healing time. It's so good. We are having my parents over right now.
I bet your parents are being spoiled with an abundance of delicious food! Are either of them into cooking/baking at all? I hope they brought you bucketfuls of berries too!!
Thank you very much for your kind comment, you know how I always appreciate your continued support Amy :-)
Nope. Neither of them is into cooking or baking :( But they liked the few vegan dishes I cooked for them. we ate out a lot as we didn't have much time together so we wanted to make the most out of it!
I want to spread the word and get involved in this project. My question is: can I use the first banner of this post? Or do you have another one to post it in our blog footer? It would be a great idea!
Sure @erikah, many people share the logo I have near the foot of my posts, which you're more than welcome to share also:
I really appreciate your desire to help grow the project, and welcome all posts and ideas you have for bringing better health to the community! As long as proper credits are given and links to the project (so people know what it's all about) then I'm more than happy for you to let loose and take it wherever you want! Let's make it a healthier world together! :-)
I love this initiative
Thanks for featuring me !
You're welcome @costanza, and thanks for your support! :-)
We are so honored to be featured in one of the earliest issues of the Make It Healthy Project Magazine! 😱 Thank you so much @woman-onthe-wing 💚
You're most welcome @deliciousplants! I love what you do with your blog and the way it brings people together, so any way I can support that I'm happy to do so!
Excellent edition my dear!
Many thanks! :-)
Wonderfully written! I so agree with what you said, healthy eating habits start at home..and with children first!
Thank you @icybc! Touch wood my son has a strong immune system and still never met his doctor, and I put that down to nutrition as a major factor :-)
Thank you so much for including me in your magazine! Great post! ❤️
