Up to the highest height
Let's go fly a kite
And send it soaring
Up through the atmosphere
Up where the air is clear
Oh, let's go fly a kite
Let's go fly a kite!
From Mary Poppins
Imagine hundreds of kites in every color, shape, and size soaring skyward around the Washington Monument and you will begin to appreciate the Blossom Kite Festival. Kite fliers of all ages from across the United States and the world gather to fly handmade kites and compete for prizes during this colorful event.
The Kite Festival features a handmade kite competition for children and adults, with awards given in categories such as most artistic, most humorous and most patriotic. Other highlights include a Hot Tricks kite flying competition and the popular Rokkaku Kite battle, in which Japanese-style kites battle each other for sole command of the sky.
The original Smithsonian Kite Festival was sponsored by the Smithsonian Associates and the National Air and Space Museum. It was founded in 1967 by aviation pioneer Paul E. Garber (1899-1992).

Let's Fly a Kite Sing-A-Long!!! You know you want to!!!!
Everyone was there... and at any event, big or small, they always have pet stations that have treats and water available for free.
Kite appears smaller than actual size. It was a huge monster of a thing.

I have been to so many new places lately! I love to share and be shared with! I have always and forever liked to see different fruits and vegetables or products that are being sold. Perhaps I cannot get them here. So, yes! I would love to see yours! Don't forget to take photos wherever you happen to be shopping - whether it be the grocery store, the local marketplace or even an art gallery. Wherever money is exchanged for a service or for merchandise. Be different if you wish! It does not have to be a traditional market! We will love it! I promise you! Don't forget to use the hashtag #MarketFriday and @dswigle.
A flower. There must always be a flower to color my world.

Thank you for visiting my post 💖 Because of you, I come back to post again and again, I am encouraged by you, for the time you take to visit, comment or even upvote. For all of these reasons, I am eternally grateful. Don't ever forget what a wonderful world we live in, people. Let's hold hands around the globe and make this earth really spin. I always post this poem down at the bottom of my posts. It is one that has become so near and dear to my heart. I only post the most famous part of it, but, wanted to post it in its entirety today.
they set my aunts house on fire
i cried the way women on tv do
folding at the middle
like a five pound note.
i called the boy who use to love me
tried to ‘okay’ my voice
i said hello
he said warsan, what’s wrong, what’s happened?
i’ve been praying,
and these are what my prayers look like;
dear god
i come from two countries
one is thirsty
the other is on fire
both need water.
later that night
i held an atlas in my lap
ran my fingers across the whole world
and whispered,
"where does it hurt?"
it answered,
"everywhere"
"everywhere"
"everywhere"

This was a real fun post until the Pretzel Guy. OMG I have seen a lot of things but WOW! That is exactly how people get a lot of nasty diseases!! That is beyond belief. I cant believe people were actually buying stuff from him!
Any way it looked like a fun time and it is totally amazing to me that with all those kits and the inevitable tangles, that no one ends up beaten badly or shot! Thanks so much for taking us along.
Well, I'm glad that you had a good time and please excuse the pretzel guy! I am sure that he is not a sanctioned seller. The fact that he had a stolen grocery cart and that he was not practicing sanitary Behavior made me turn him in. Who knows if he has any game that he is carrying. And yes, people will buy from him every day because when you start traveling the world oh, you will see that it is a common practice in many places to sell this way. All I can say is, I ain't dead yet. LOL
It was an amazingly fun time and even though there were literally thousands of people gathered and tangling the kites was common, it was part of the charm of being all together and enjoying the day. Thank you for coming along and I hope you have a fabulous rest of your day!
Don't forget that #MarketFriday loves you!

Well it is a good thing because we had a scare from the Ren Fest last Fall. The health department were all over local media wanting people to go in because some person had Hepatitis but thankfully it was the weekend before we were there! So it was the real deal and too close for comfort!!
That is true! I know it is and that is why I am a little bit more careful than I used to be. Sadly, I did turn the guy in but, he was at a public event and handing out food in an unsanitary way. I know he didn't have a permit for sure.
I remember the hepatitis scare they had up there... and the good thing is that they caught it and were able to identify anyone who might be infected. It is cases like THIS that it goes by unnoticed until one becomes ill.
Way too close for comfort. Yes.

Okay Denise, you just made my evening! Just looked at your post. What a fun festival! I flew kites as a kid and also flew kites with my kids when they were young. It’s such a fun activity and gets a person outside. And of course I played the video and sang along! That’s one of my favorite songs from Mary Poppins - which I watched many times - my 2 kids enjoyed it also. So thanks for putting a smile on my face!
I am absolutely so happy to hear that! I want you to know that I went down there with no kids, but a kite to fly with a bunch of family with me and we had the most delightful time. I say that, but I never miss a festival. There's just something so nostalgic and wonderful and everybody is in a good mood and there's no fussing about lines being crossed, even though there are literally hundreds and hundreds of kites up in the air at the same time. I love seeing some of the same kites from last year and the year before because the big ones that are 5 and 6 ft big an even bigger than that, are Unforgettable. I did the same thing with the song. Rather than go for the version with the movie I liked having it done this way it was more fun to involve everybody. And wasn't that just such a happy song? My Favorite part probably was when they all put the umbrellas up and surprised those around them!
I am very happy that it made you happy because reading your comment just absolutely made my night. I had a great time there and I am so glad that you had a good time too.
Come on now! Let's go fly a kite!
Thank you so much for taking the time to stop in and make such a lovely comment. It is people like you that change a quiet night into one that has laughter involved. So thank you for that and I hope you have a most fabulous night ahead.

What a fabulous day! And I had a great time reading your wonderful report! I love very much the photo of Washington Monument rounded with flags - really impressive.
I think we need fests time after time as it is a great chance to cheer up, to meet people, to smile and see smiling loved ones and strangers :)
It was a truly fabulous day! The sky had a sunny disposition and the people did too. Who doesn't love to be in the middle of an atmosphere like that?
The Washington Monument always photographs so beautifully. Can you see the different color of the structure? The backstory is that the building had been started construction and had to stop due to the war and the lack of supply. When it resumed, the color was a little off and they finished it off. So, to me, if I look at it, I can see the two-tones of the structure.
Of course, this doesn't do anything for my love of it! I still love it!
It is always a lovely day when we can get out and make exchanges of human kindness with another. And yes!! I find meeting new people interesting. Thank you for stopping by and always making such lovely comments! I hope you have a most amazing day!

Really cool and light hearted photos, @dswigle! I still don't get why someone would make and obelisk out of Egypt. Humans and their crazy, megalomaniac ideas. Ahahahah! 😂
Cool photo of the kids on the tree, it makes me wonder when was the last time I did that!!! Too long to remember, it seems... 😕
Thanks for sharing.
It really was a lot of fun going here and I'm glad that it is close enough for me to take advantage of these opportunities. I have no idea what was going through the man's head that built the Washington Monument. I used to know the story, but it has faded over time. I'll have to look that up again. Oh yes, humans can be crazy oh, there's no doubt about that.
It certainly was a wonderful day and it's always a joy to see hundreds of kites in the sky all at the same time. I have been coming here to this Festival for a long time and I still enjoy it. The kids on the tree were a common sight. Although, I must say that they have shunned that when it comes to the cherry trees down at the Tidal Basin. Kids used to climb all over them and over time some of the older trees have gotten damaged oh, so they have stopped that. I actually sat upon one of the lower branches so my experience is a little bit sooner than yours oh, but you climb all the way up to a tree oh, it's been a while.
Thank you for visiting Market Friday and for leaving such a wonderful comment. As always I wish you a most amazing day.

I've never seen so many kites in my life. These are so beautiful, especially the huge monster, I love how colorful it is. It looks like this was a very nice event and people of all ages had fun together.
Here's my entry Handmade Spring Welcoming Symbols for MarketFriday
Thank you for running the challenge and have a nice weekend :)
Every year, I always think that I have never seen so many kites. This year, just like every other you there were hundreds upon hundreds flying in the air at the same time. It makes for such a beautiful sight and you can see them in the entire mall area which consists of one mile. It is like a whole mile of kites. Having said that oh, it gets so crowded that people start using the outskirts of that area and so it seems like the entire city is consumed by kites. I don't find that to be a bad thing and it is a very bonding experience with children and their parents and families in general. You would think with all of the people together side by side in strings getting tangled up occasionally that there would be short tempers, but in fact quite the opposite, people stop what they are doing and help others untangle their strings. Never cross words and never any problems there so I always think that there is hope for Humanity when I go to these events and people are kind and polite. As they should be
It is always a beautiful day when you can go out and fly a kite! Thank you for stopping by and I appreciate you dropping your link!
#tip
You have pointed out the most important thing
These events are meant to bring people together and not to separate or upset them. This is mainly for kids and they need to learn to interact with other people and also to handle situations where things don't go as planned. What they see as kids, most like is what they do as adults. So it's nice to see the event is/was successful.
The other good thing is that it's for free. Life is hard enough as it is, no need to stop people from attending just because they can't afford it.
Appreciate the resteem! Thank you so much @pixresteemer!

Oh!! You have no idea what you are missing!!! It is a most amazing sight to see hundreds and hundreds of kites in the skies at one time! The pictures never seem to capture it quite right as I was flying one also, so I had to multi-task! :)
Everyone gathers at the Washington Memorial and if you don't have a kite, there are some for sale or there is a kite tent and they teach you how to make one. A most fascinating day, always!
You would think that the lines would get all tangled, but, most people keep really good track of their string, but, when it does happen, well, they just untangle and carry on!
Thank you for stopping by! It is most appreciated as is your kind comment!

This is awesome, @dswigle! What a glorious day, between the children, kites and animals I would spend the entire day people watching. The Smithsonian Castle is a beautiful backdrop to all off those kites. As for the pretzel vendor....unbelievable!!!! People were actually buying them? Geesh. The guy napping on the grass was a classic, he even took his shoes off, lol What a fun day!
Reading your comment has just made my day! It was so glorious, you are right about that and the entire day could be spent watching people, which you can see I did. Especially the little pretzel guy!
Isn't the Smithsonian cancel so beautiful? So many people think that it looks out of place there, but I just love that Touch of Magic. The man napping on the grass was funny and he even took off his shoes and everything else he could get away. It was the kickoff for spring in the Washington DC area and for some reason, mother nature always cooperates and makes it a nice time. It was wonderful, it was magical, it was making me sing the song Let's Go Fly a Kite the entire day! And yes I turned in the pretzel in to the health department. We don't need to be spreading any more diseases than there already are!
As always I want to thank you for leaving such a wonderful comment and I want you to have a most wonderful weekend!

Wow!!! I have never seen anything like it. it is truly an amazing sight! great that people in your country have this wonderful event! hee hee hee ))) Denise, you can't come to Israel))))) there are such sellers at every step. I was also always surprised that people buy food from them. if you took these two apples for yourself, then you have two)))))
https://steemit.com/marketfriday/@tali72/marketfriday-bottle-for-water-c907c67e9b873
It is such an amazing sight, Tali! I wish you could have been here to see it. I go to it every year, but I can say that it still is very amazing to these eyes. To see hundreds and hundreds of kites in the air at the same time is an incredible sight. As I was flying my own oh, I didn't get as much time to take pictures. The day was fun and to be honest, there is always something going on downtown Washington DC. The fact that all of their events are usually free makes it so much more fun to go to these things. Especially when you know you are not going to have to spend a ton of money before you even get to have the fun.
Having the kites tangle was not as big as struggle as you would think. Even though there were some that got mixed up with the string, people were generally kind and patient and would just untangle them and go about their business. No harsh words, so that made for the event to be very nice. Usually everybody is very calm and friendly so I enjoy going to them.
I do understand about the food vendors in many of the other places in the world. That doesn't necessarily bother me but he was alone as there were many vendors that were attached to this event. He did not even have a permit to be there, as the other vendors did. So he was taking business away from them.
Oh! You got the riddle!! :)) You are very good at this!! Thank you for the visit and your always awesome comments! Very much appreciated! As always, I hope you have a most fabulous day!!

Ya gotta love kites, kids and blue skies. Some of the kites were pretty amazing for self-made. Well, I'm off to bed with a song in my head.
There is something truly magical about kites, whether you be a kid or an adult! The blue skies are just a bonus. I can tell you I have been to this event when the skies were overcast and the rain was coming down.
And honestly, it was still fun!
They have a tent where you can go have a class and learn how to make a tent and honestly some of them are purchased oh, so I don't want you to think that every single one you see is handmade or self made. I'm with you on that song. I think that would be so fun to come upon a piano and someone with a song in their heart, belting out the words and creating the camaraderie of knowing the same song. For all the bad that happens, this world is a pretty amazing place.
Thank you for visiting and taking the time to peruse the post. As always, I hope you have a most amazing day!

LOVE Washington DC! It's been so many years since we've visited there-
Have you ever had the chance to see the Cherry Blossom trees in bloom there!
I love Washington, DC too, Dawne! @goldendawne
I love the fact that everything is free there. Well, not everything, but, there is so much there with all the museums, galleries of all kinds, and places like the Library of Congress and all of the Monuments. I have lived here for years and I still can go to any one of these relics and discover something new about our nation.
It is a great place to homeschool too. That is one of the reasons I know so much about the historical aspects of it and have watched countless passings of laws etc in Congress. Homeschoolers can get into Congress every single day they are in session, unlike everyone else, where you only get permission to attend perhaps once.
I am rambling on and on, but, there is so much about this place I love and well, if they could boot the lobbyist and politicians, well, so much better. LOL
Cherry Blossoms? Heck yeah, woman! Always and Forever!! Wouldn't miss them for anything! 💖 Thank you for stopping by and for the always nice words you leave me!

fun! been 20+ years since i've flown a kite..
Twenty plus years?? You know that you owe it to yourself to go to the next Kite Festival!
I would venture to say that for many it has been the first time in many years, but there are many of the golden oldies here that are experts in that field! Given the fact that there are thousands of people huddled into one's area, it is always touching to see how much care each individual shows to another by stepping out of the way so that the string does not get tangled. Many people have asked me how there are no fights with that many people and that much string together but I can honestly say that the camaraderie and the warmth of the day rubs off on the people, making it a most wonderful event to be at.
Every. Single. Year.
Thank you so much for stopping by and making Market Friday part of your day! As always, I wish you an amazing rest of your day!

Great day out Denise, not something I have ever seen at this grand scale. Did build and fly kites as children, good fun!
And as an aside, I saw that it was you who nominated me and I just want to thank you for that, it was an Incredibly kind thing to do when I have my challenge. Thank you so much, again and again, a very kind and generous gesture!
It was a most incredible day outside, Joan! @joanstewart
Believe it or not, this Festival normally kicks off when the real spring starts! I cannot believe that the date they pick actually coincides with the warming of the Earth. They have had this festival for a very long time and I have never missed it because I just enjoy it so much. There are literally thousands of people gathered and the temperament is always one of joy and laughter. No matter how many strings crossover or how many things get stepped on, there never seems to be a cross word between anyone. So, that in itself makes for a nice day.
I think that we have all built and flown kites as children, but this festival always seems to dial back childhood. Thank you so much for stopping by and leaving such a lovely comment and as always I wish you a most awesome day!

I'm in! I missed last week and now I am a bit back on track. Your post sure makes me miss DC, Denise. I spent a lot of my time in that place when traveling for business and always had so much fun. I would have loved to be there for kite day!
https://steemit.com/esteem/@fitinfun/market-friday-goes-back-to-family-mart-wangsa-maju-malaysia
Well I'm pretty sure that I remember you the trip to Singapore, if I'm not mistaken, that is a very busy time and I'm pretty sure that I wouldn't be doing much of anything, except the business at hand.
There are times when I sit back and wonder why I stay here in DC but I can tell you that there is so much about it that I love and there is always so much going on and it's a waste free! Free free free! You cannot beat that with a stick. Unless of course we are talking about the food in Thailand and then all bets are off. I would have loved to have had you here, flying your kite next to mine. I'm sure that we could scare up some trouble somehow! Amazing as it may seem, the people of DC are cool calm and collected when it comes to tangling Strings. Nobody got upset Tom everybody tried to help one another and we were talking thousands of people it made quite amazing for me. Every single year. And I've been coming here for a long time. I want to thank you always for taking a part in Market Friday and for coming over and visiting and leaving the sweetest comments ever! I just love reading them and you are so sweet!
I am looking forward to reading your post as you always have top quality stuff, even when you go to a convenience store you make it interesting! Now that, in my opinion is great talent! The Kite Festival is a very exciting celebration, but more of a festival! I say celebration because it is welcoming in the spring. For some reason, Mother Nature has allowed us to start our spring when the Kite Festival begins. Washington DC is a very beautiful place to be and is always with flowers food and entertainment. I live very close to here so it is just a Metro ride away or a few minutes in my car. It is nice living close to a little bit of country and yet having the city right at my doorstep. Thank you so much for your lovely comments always and I hope that you have a most wonderful weekend!

When you mentioned the kite festival I thought it would be big but WOW thats bigger than I expected and ales for such a fun post,
I would be giving that pretzel gut a worse look than the guy in the blue short was giving , good on your to export him that’s terrible
What a fun post to read here is my post for this week
https://steemit.com/marketfriday/@tattoodjay/market-friday-open-all-hours
Hey! This is Washington DC! You know we do things big, don't you! In actuality the Kite Festival is always and forever highly attended. I can understand that because I never miss it. Who wants to miss a whole day outside running in the wind and watching as your kite goes bobbing up into the atmosphere? Not this girl! In the entire time I have that song running through my brain, Let's Go Fly a Kite! I just can't help it.
It is such an incredible sight to watch hundreds and hundreds of colorful kites and soaring up into the sky all at one time. It's nice because if you have a kite, which most everybody does oh, you can do battle with it come or you can buy one, or there is a kite tent where you can actually make one under their guidance. So, they really make it a fun day and even though you would think that the kitestrings would get tangled up being there so many people oh, it happens on occasion, but when it does telling people are cool and calm and just untangle it and help each other. So it makes for a wonderful day. I hope someday you do get to do it, or at least take pictures of it. Somehow I think they have one up north somewhere. At any rate it was a most amazing day with the capital and the Smithsonian Castle as the backdrop, and of course the Washington Monument to the back of you.
Thank you so much for the nice words always and for always supporting Market Friday with your posts ! And in case I haven't told you, I hope that you have a most incredible weekend.
#MarketFriday loves you!

We are so alike whenever I go to our Kite day ( all be it a lot smaller than the one there) that song comes into my head as well :)
Seeing so many flying at one time must be such a cool feeling and experience and so cool you can not only but also make kites there I would love to visit it one year
and I should also say thanks Aunt Tippy
I know! Isn't that so cool? Did you see that I put a link in for a sing along with that song? I'm pretty sure most people passed it over but it was really in quite cute especially at the very end when they pushed up the umbrellas. You got to love when they get the entire town running over to get into the verse.
It actually gets even better! They do have a tent that makes the tights and I teach everybody how to do it and then of course there's a lot of instructors showing you how to fly and then, in case you have an accident oh, there's a kite Meister and he will take care of your kite and bring it back to life. It's such an awesome event and although many around here down play it because we already have thousands and thousands of people showing up, it is very much enjoyed by all who come. And it is very close, well in city blocks it's probably about three blocks from the Tidal Basin and you can peruse cherry trees before and after the Kite Festival. Although Nobody Does that because we all live so close we just come the next day. I truly hope you get here someday because I think that it is something that you would want to spend probably a week perusing around. Of course this is after you retire and you will not sleep in the city oh, but you will sleep outside of the city and jump on the metro to get you in. It's the only way to go.
And yes! I hope you have a most fabulous night.
I have to admit I did miss the sing along, its been a crazy dau and still catching up on here, but I am glad you mentioned it that was brilliant such fun to see and now I am humming along with the song while I type
it is up near the top of my list of places to visit for sure
You have a great weekend, I am hoping Sunday is a nice day to get out shooting tomorrow I plan on taking it easy feeling a bit run down this evening
I am so glad you got to hear the song and I loved the sing-along that they had! Wasn't that fun? My favorite part was probably when they all put the umbrellas up in Surprise the crowd. I think I sang the entire time I was making the post.
Well, I'm glad it's the weekend for you so you can get a little bit of rest and hopefully you will take it easy and recuperate from this busy week, because, boy howdy, the week was pretty busy!
Ohh yes that was fun infact I just listened to it again and was still such fun and !tip worthy I must admit
Have been chilling most of the morning and still not 1100% but a little better, but my dang shoulder is playing up again, I am pretty confident sometime to day I will go to use it and it will click and be all good, I hope so because at the moment its a struggle to pick up a bottle of water let alone my camera LOL

Thanks @tipu and @dswigle
That would be a amazing site to see all those beautiful colored kites amongst them blue skies the thing that amazes me is how do they avoid not getting tangled up with each other surly there would be a few of those incidents but never the less it would be magical to see. I myself as a kid use to love flying kites truly fun times :)
marketfriday/@hangin/marketfriday-initiated-by-dswigle-silver-precious-stones-and-beads
It is a pretty amazing sight with all of those different kites threading through the blue skies. For the most part, Tangles are not too bad, but of course there are some. You would be amazed at how common patient people are when they are disengaging themselves from each other. I am always surprised that the tempers Stay in check and there is never an angry word exchanged. As it should be, but things are not always as they should be. It's all in fun and I am happy to see that it is taken that way.
I have to admit that it is something that I go to all the time and it still never loses its magic to me! As a kid and even now as an adult, flying kites is not lost its charm. I am so glad that you took the time to come over and read the whole thing and as usual I appreciate you and your efforts. As usual oh, I wish you a wonderful day!
#MarketFriday loves you!
!tip
It's nice that they do keep there tempers and patience otherwise it would be a messy situation all round. I have always like the colors and designs of these kites i would just go just to see that :)
Wishing you a great Sunday :)

I have to admit, that it was pretty exciting and there was a lot of fun to be had. How can you not love kite flying Festival? Pretty sure right back to that place in childhood, when life was oh so easy and tomorrow is only a day away.
I want to thank you for visiting and for being a part of Market Friday always. Makes me feel so good to see so many of the same people show up week after week, supporting me in the way that you do. I appreciate it.

Hi, Traci Girl!! @traciyork
Thank you so much!! I can actually see you and me sitting and just people watching as we fly our own kites that we made... Well, of course, we did, because we are that good!
This is always a fabulous event to go to and even though there are literally hundreds of these up in the air at once, the tangling situation is not nearly as bad as one would think. The people are all so nice and what a way to spend a day, right?
Oh, let's go fly a kite!!! Mwah!
Thank you for stopping by and for showing your brand of love! It is much appreciated and as always, I hope you have a most wonderful day!
And thank you for the !tip! It is so appreciated!
Loved your fun filled blog all about kites @dswigle They are truly spectacular nad i was especially drawn to that large monster with the sharp teeth and the hexagonal-shaped fighter kite. I can just imagine the buoyant atmosphere and the laughter.
We have yearly kite festivals here in Redcliffe and apparently people come from all over the world to participate. It's a great sight. (U & R )
Here is my entry:
https://steemit.com/esteem/@trudeehunter/market-friday-farm-produce-and-crafts
Oh, I have to admit, you picked my absolute most favorite one! Well except maybe for this dragon with a 20 ft tail. He was spectacular and unless you knew where to look for him you wouldn't have seen him. I am so in love with this festival and it brings out thousands of people, quite literally. When you are shoulder to shoulder with another person, it's hard not to tangle the strings, but there was a consensual calmness among everybody and even the people that crossed wires a bunch of times usually a whole village of people help them get untangled and carried on. It's so nice to see people behaving in such a nice manner. I know that sounds silly but tempers can flare over such silly little things.
I am really excited to see your Kite Festival in yes people come from all around the world. I think that's partly because it is the nation's capital and partly because people just love Kites and they actually are very serious about their battles between the teams. It was a fun day. It was a perfect day for a perfect day. Thank you so much for taking the time to stop in, make a lovely comment and leave such a generous up vote. Much appreciated and I hope you have a most amazing weekend!

I have just read about our yearly festival of sails which will be occurring in a couple of weeks time in Redcliffe, so I will have to keep that day clear so that I can do a post about it.
The weather is cooling down enough to make it reasonably pleasant to get out and about so my camera will be coming with me every time I leave the house from now on.
Thank YOU for your lovely comments of appreciation. It's always a pleasure to participate in Market Friday. 💐

This looks so interesting and amazing @dswigle If I did @marketfriday yesterday it would have been me stuck in the house on the phone ALL day with a Big Box store, the delivery service they use, and other various people. Oh how I hate the waiting and at the end of the day, yep still no delivery!
I don't think that would have been a very interesting post, eh? Though I do have a pretty decent view and I needed it yesterday to take deep breath's between endless phone calls :/
These kites look so magical en masse like this.
Actually, I think that might have been a very interesting post but I can understand not doing one in that thread. How frustrating to be sitting and waiting for something that is supposed to be there. It's even better when they say that it's going to be there and they insist that it is on their way come only to find out that it never left the store.
You gotta love big business!
On another note, it's always nice to see you here what do you have opposed to share or just perusing Market Friday. It is an amazing sight, always, to see hundreds upon hundreds of kites in the air, all at one time. It was a perfect day for a perfect day. I hope that you and your box store and get everything all settled and I hope that you have a most amazing day!

We do celebrate some kite flying on 14 Jan to celebrate makar Sankranti and few on 15 Aug to celebrate India's independence.
Posted using Partiko Android
That is so awesome! Do you participate in any of the kite flying? I actually flew my own kite in between taking pictures and I had a lot of fun! What is the first celebration for on 14th January? I understand that the August 15th one is for India's independence.
It's so amazing to see hundreds and hundreds of kites flying at the same time. I'm not sure how big your kite flying experience is but it was pretty fun this weekend. I just want to thank you for stopping by and for leaving such a lovely comment. It is always nice to see you and I appreciate you supporting the market Friday tag. I hope you have a most incredible weekend.

This looks like summer there! What a colourful and cheerful festival!
Some kites are just frightening and scary! You have castle as well. I wonder if there’s a damsel in distress up there!!
Kids are having a wonderful time! Such memorable moments to be cherished for a long, long time!
Posted using Partiko iOS
It does almost look like summer here, doesn't it? It was an amazingly colorful and cheerful Festival! It is something that they have every year for as long as I have lived here and many years before that. I guess some of the children find the scary looking kites fun. I think that I would rather go with the princess or perhaps maybe the Dragon. All of the dragon kites were pretty awesome!
We do have a castle here and it actually was lived in Once Upon a Time. It is not a castle in the true sense of the word, because nobody Royal ever lived in it. He was just a very wealthy man. I don't recall if I ever seen the Damsel in Distress, but I will look next time I go there and listen for her cries!
The kids are having a wonderful time and honestly I love it everytime I go! Thank you so much for taking the time to visit and as usual, I hope you have a most wonderful day!

Thank you so much for your wonderful words the kite Festival post. It was really a wonderful place to be that day, with your eyes looking up to the sky as hundreds and hundreds of kites bobbed up and down. Children and parents, grandparents and even dogs made the day their own. It was amazing and I am glad that I could capture it and pass it on to everyone here. As always, have an amazing weekend!

Thank you so much for the kind reply! It was so fun to sit and watch this wonderful event! I do so love to watch as they teach the kids how to build their own in the kite tent. They do so well in the teaching department!
It is an event that is fun for adults and children alike. If you look at the pictures, there are more adult than children attending! There never seems to be a dull moment and I have been going there for years. The pictures are okay, but, in person is amazing. Especially the dragon kites and the 3-D ones.
The weather was perfect and it was the perfect day FOR a perfect day! Thank you for stopping by #MarketFriday and I appreciate you taking the time to read and the lovely comment!
As always, I wish you a nice day!

It's great that there are so many adults who are children at heart :DDD Makes life more enjoyable!
Flying a kite seems to be much more technical than a simple child's play.

I would totally love be in a festival like that. So cute! So many kites, It surely was fun :3
Posted using Partiko Android
I think that you would love to be at this Festival too! There is so much fun to be had and there are so many beautiful kites there. There was a tent where you could build your kite and they would show you how to do it, or, you could bring your own. Either way, both are sure to show you a good time. There were literally thousands of people flying their kites all over downtown Washington DC. The largest part of them at the Washington Monument which was the center of the festival.
It is a yearly event and I I have never missed it! It is fun to watch the parents teach the children the skills that they have learned over time. A wonderful bonding moment full of love and laughter. Thank you so much for stopping by Market Friday and I hope you have an amazing day.

My younger brother had a kite accident when he was around 9 and stumbled upon a stone while running for his lost kite, the thread was cut and he wanted to save it. He broke his arm and more so, the one who helped him had an epilepsy attack and was holding his broken arm. It was an unforgettable moment he was crying so loud from the pain.
It must have been a fun event, I would love to attend such gatherings. I only saw some kite surfers in Southern Spain but not this kind. All those colors must be so wonderful! And the most important thing is that you have enjoyed it!

What an incredible collection of pictures, @dswigle! I'm a few days late, but just wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed these. The two-fisted kite flyer is an inspiration. She looks absolutely fearless and determined. I wonder how many strings get tangled at an event like that.
