Mindfulness: The Meditation Technique That Is Making People Talk

in #meditation6 years ago

Mindfulness can be seen as a therapy in the sense of channeling our energy and living the moment in a harmonious and constructive way.

This practice is intended to be used for personal well-being in life and work. The goal is to turn off the autopilot that, experience after experience, we activate and drop the accomplishment of tasks as simple as recognizing what is around us. For example, sipping breakfast instead of swallowing it.

Mindfulness means awareness, attention and remembering. Being aware of our experiences, taking care and knowing how to remember are the most important points of the human being in terms of emotional intelligence and ability to deal with feelings, thoughts and emotions. We can even say more: mindfulness attributes greater weight to response than to reaction. A reaction is automatic and does not allow choice. An answer is deliberate and thoughtful action.

Why Mindfulness?

Mindfulness focuses on the present, that is, on what we can control. It is necessary to take advantage of the present moment and to feel what we are living. In practice, it is to take a conscious approach and no value judgments, in order to reflect the best thoughts, without thinking about what we have to do next.

How do you practice Mindfulness?

This therapy can be practiced in a formal or informal way, sitting or lying down, on the street, in the car, on the beach... at any moment. What matters is the focus and determination with which we focus (we keep our mind empty of thoughts) and on a parallel path with a deep and calm breathing we are able to give back to the mind and body the tranquility necessary to guarantee a better quality of life. We can say that this is a relaxation very similar to practicing yoga.

What are the benefits of Mindfulness?

In a very succinct way, it is learning to stop, to free yourself of additives. The advantages are many. And who practices, wins with this, for example, at the level of productivity, which increases. Basically, we are training the brain to be attentive and focused, without too much pressure. The greater the concentration on the task you are doing, the better you can do it.

Practical example - and who drive lives that reality. In a traffic situation, chaos, honks, complaints, insults ... knowing how to stop is pulling the mind into a state of neutral thoughts and feelings, it's almost like resetting the memory, bringing the mind into a state of peace and balance.

In conclusion, the key to everything is to understand meditation as a gym, to learn how to reduce stress, and to improve concentration, productivity and self-esteem, or to achieve different states of consciousness.

We know that each person has their way of controlling/circumventing levels of stress and/or concentration. For some, the way is to take a break and drink coffee. For others, the way is to isolate themselves, for brief moments, in silence (I'm the second type of person).

Mindfulness is a long process that demands discipline and rigor, which promises to pay off for the positive results achieved in well-being and quality of life.

Thanks for a thorough explanation, followed for more! I’m also writing on meditation, feel free to check out my blog and followed list for some resources and writers you might find interesting. Enjoy!

Thank you for everything, glad you enjoyed! Let's start living and not only surviving...

I just stopped by due to the one up, one down challenge.

Mindfulness is really cool. I tried a short "test-run" during one of my sessions with my psychologist about a year ago. I thought it was super awkward though, but relaxing.

Yes, great to see the challenge working, it's actually genius! Obviously now I´ll visit your content to see what´s up :D

I´m not an expert on meditation or anything like that, but Mindfulness looks promising. I´ve tested it yesterday after I wrote the post and I can´t say that it did wonders but I really liked that amount of time relaxed. Maybe in long term it completely changes me.

I agree with you, even though the challenge is more or less the basics of social media. However, things are different on Steemit though, so a challenge like this is definitely something good! :)

I think you'll have to spend hours and more hours to really achieve good things with mindfulness. But I believe it works, or that it can work.

Exactly it is so basic that the majority of people on Steemit forget to do it on a regular basis. It´s super important to create connections with others here, and this contest is trying to help with that.

I believe too, let's see!! While I got some free time, best try it than not knowing at all.
