One thing I've always had the passion for is reading. Ever since I was a kid, I have been a voracious reader. From the fairytale books my parents would read to me at night, to the children's encyclopedia with all the pictures and fun facts, my parents would tell me how I would make them read it to me, all the time. And this was before I could even read by myself.
By the time I learned how to read, I was already reading all the books available in the house. Because this was before the Internet was commonplace, I ended up reading some books more than once. So, to encourage my love of reading, my parents would always buy me new books or get our relatives to lend me theirs. Eventually, I graduated from fairy tales and stories to reading poems and classic novels.
Today, my love for reading has only grown. Now, I read everything from crime thrillers to fantasy, and non-fiction to science fiction. And while reading started out as merely a good way to pass the time as a kid, these days, my love for reading has helped me out in so many ways. It has been a constant source of new knowledge and continued learning. It has also helped boost my confidence in my abilities to talk to others, share my ideas, and understand other's ideas better.
