There is no hard and fast rule, however, if you have a specific quality, then keeping momentum around them in your posts is good. For example, if you have blogging skills, then you can write blogs. If you are an artist, then posting about your arts is good. And if you do not have any specific skills, then you can try out different things as well. Now there are many platforms built on steem blockchain, and I believe there are more to come.
You should post contents that you are really into and not what the community wants(Of course it would be much better if your niche are also in line with the community).
If you are a beginner, your main focus should not be on "potential rewards" but on visibility and some attention first. Keep growing your follower base with people with the same interests as your.
The first thing you want to do is make an introduction blog post and tag it with introduceyourself. Take a moment to study other introduction posts by visiting the previous link. Try to include all of these things in your post:
detailed but non-sensitive information about you, your life, struggles (without whining), plans and goals;
information about what you do professionally, what projects you’re working on, what interests you;
what you like about Steem and how you plan to collaborate to build the ecosystem;
questions you have about Steem; and
photos and videos that add to or deepen the text.
Feel free to send me a second draft of your introduction post (in Markdown format). I’ll read it over and give you some ideas for taking it to the next level.
Well-done introduction posts can earn hundreds or thousands of dollars. They can gain you an initial following that will come back again and again for your next posts.
So take your time and do it well. Don’t skip this step and don’t phone it in! Think about what makes you unique. Open up. This is a community of people. The tech just makes it possible. How will you add value to the community? Put all of that and more into your post.
Don’t expect your second or third posts to earn as much as your introduction post. Take your earnings from the introduction post and consider investing them in Steem Power, tools or training that will enable you to produce more and better content for the network.
This is my opinion based on other blog study...
I do not want to say what content is good for you. but I would like to suggest that you evaluate yourself, what skills you have and what you like. Start writing content according to your ability, it will be better than following others. The power of one kind of knowledge will be better, will make you become a professional in that field. That's when success comes to you.
Try posting content of one matter. So concentrate on e.g. gaming, photography or traveling. So choose your favorite.
But from time to time you can write something else.
For me, it is very important to know your niche. As for me, I started my stint here in Steemit as a contributor in Utopian-io's translation category and when translation was paused, I was struggling to find my niche. Thankfully, since I love solving problems in mathematics and problems relating to my degree (BS in Mechanical Engineering), I tried posting articles about it and at first it was difficult and time consuming especially when making presentations for the computations and as time passes by you'll cope up and find ways to make it completed and presented well wherein it doesn't consume much of your time. And up until today, I'm still posting articles relating to my niche.
Your niche is very related to your hobby and likes, if you like travelling you can post about your travel adventures and there are many travel posts that are exceptional which you can use as your barometer in improving your presentation of travel posts. Well, lastly, I do believe everyone is having its own hobbies and strength since we are all unique - and Steemit will help you find it for you and will aid you in monetizing your content.

I would prefer if you post original content here on Steemit, instead of just copy-pasting work from other authors.

Why would you ask a question, then steal the text that @georgedonnelly wrote in his post from a few years ago? https://steemit.com/steemit/@georgedonnelly/everything-you-need-to-get-started-fast-with-steemit-social-media-that-pays-complete-tutorial-with-screencast
Maybe try to write your own answers in the future?
