There's a short story by Howard Fast about children being raised without being told their limitations. And because no one tells them telepathy is impossible, they can do it. I find that idea fascinating. I dunno about telepathy, but I think a lot of our world's problems are solvable if we just could believe we had the power to solve them.

I remember one of the Golden Age sci-fi short stories having the similar hook. Something about being able to develop anti-gravity after being shown a video of some "genius" having had achieved it (but dying in the attempt). Which made the scientists give up their ingrained ideas, and try to develop the idea!
Yeah, the idea of "our only limitation is that which we put on ourselves" is definitely in the aether. And I think both woo-woo folks and scientific folks find it true to varying degrees.
