The FSB intelligence agents who provided intelligence to the US have been charged with treason

Who is Sergey Mikhailov?

He is accused of being a high level CIA cyber asset:

This is an interesting case, and I'd like to know how Steemit feels about it. The Russians have arrested FSB intelligence agents who cooperated with the United States to track down a Russian hacker. This case in my opinion provides strong credibility to the accusations by the US against Russia in the election spy scandal and other scandals. In specific, there is clearly spying on both sides going on and just as the US would like to arrest certain agents or former agents who tipped off Russia, the Russians would like to arrest agents who tip off the US.

The questions remain, why didn't the US do more to protect it's Russian spies? If they were arrested then what went wrong to allow the Russian government to find out and arrest them? What happens to them now that they have been charged with treason?

The truth is this: everyone is spying on everyone else. It's has been this way for the past 50-100 years. The internet just made the spying even more prolific.

The US has sabotaged more foreign governments than I can care to remember, so spying between the major powers is the norm these days.

"The questions remain, why didn't the US do more to protect it's Russian spies?"

Because the US government has a habit of disposing of people who are no longer useful. Happens all the time, you just don't hear about it on the news so frequently.

agent needs RFID tag, so that they are marked.

Nice sharing...

America can exchange its spies for Russian. Otherwise, they will not be envied

This seems like a classic false flag operation carried out by US intelligence. As for the US protecting its foreign spies there are numerous situations when they have acted too slow and of course it depends on how much warning they had in the first place. I imagine that if you are a spy, you know the risks. I don't understand why he had all the money hidden in his house so it could be that he was just very lucky not to be caught before this. Only an idiot would keep that amount of money in a place associated with oneself.

In this case because the spy is an FSB agent I would say they would know the risk. The majority of spies on the other hand being civilians without any understanding of the risks.

Important to note is the fact that a spy is any random person off the street. It doesn't have to be an adult, it can be a child. It does not have to be a human being. Any source of intelligence which helps an intelligence agency can find themselves spying without even knowing they are or what spying is.

A random person off the street can ask you for directions. You give them directions and now you've helped them. This doesn't mean you knew they were an intelligence agent, and so no you cannot be aware of the risks in that case. Since we don't know how the FSB agent was made to provide this information because the information is limited, we simply don't know what happened. Because the charge is treason, my guess is that the FSB agent did know the risk and did know what they were doing because of the charge, and because they being an FSB agent is specifically trained to understand the tactics. They may have even been trained to resist, and to do the same tactics.

That is a good question dude, probably torture, to get more information out of them.

Torture is not effective at getting truthful information. A person being tortured will give a false confession or say whatever the torturer wants. Torture like rape is about control, not about truth. The rapist isn't going to get the truth out of the rape victim based on how many times they rape the victim, so why would we think the torturer is going to produce the truth out of the victim?

More likely is more friendly methods. Just think, who are you more willing to help? A friend who has always been good to you, or someone who is torturing you? Now if the idea is to get a bunch of people to say lies which aren't true to pin a crime on someone else then maybe torture would be used. Victims of torture who are under the coercion of another will be possible false witnesses so I would say it's hard to verify.
