Writing an article that shimmers at the seams is a lot of work, and one thing that many bloggers (including myself) struggle with is wanting all of our posts to be perfect ...ahem... high-quality.

Posting a few times a week can give us more time to fine-tune our posts before publishing. Shouldn't we push for more while maintaining our same standards? Should a blogger post everyday to have something to present our followers, or does that make us lazy by writing shorter posts?
What side of the debate are you on?
Anyone already following me knows that I may post a few days in a row here and there, then without notice can vanish into an abyss for a few days—sometimes even a week. I didn't want to publish anything unless it was the best possible job I could do on the topic I chose. In my head, I would rationalize that losing several days a week was needed to make sure my articles would turn out fantastic.

Looking at Streamers & Vloggers
I had to think about this. It's quite possible that my fear of writing a terrible blog is unfounded, and is not beneficial in the long term. I started to think of why I was obsessed with certain Youtubers, and Twitch streamers. The answer became apparent.
When I look at all of their content, they post almost—if not everyday. I previously dug into many past videos and streams to reveal that not every video or media content from them was absolutely jaw-dropping. In fact, many of the things they covered were not in my interests. But I was a fan... and would watch those videos anyway.
I would religiously check the pages of my favorite
vloggers and streamers
wondering expecting to see new content,
that it simply became a habit to check them EVERYday!
Swallow Your Pride & Think of Your Fans!
Content creation is a journey and although we want to be at our "end-game visualization" the entire way, we have to appreciate our own journeys with ourselves and our followers. How can we map our own progress if we don't have enough points to reference? How is someone going to become obsessed with your content if there isn't enough to satisfy a fan binge?
I want to always have something to learn and look forward to by checking out my blogs, and although quality appears to be high up on the ruling class—consistency, may actually be king.

Well, you can post photo (steepshot), video, meme and a lot of things. If quality means writing certain amount of text, I have nothing to say. But it's not defined clearly.
I'm posting meme and funny stuffs these days. You have to decide what you post on steemit. You're free. No one's going to impose you something.
I love posts that bring value to others and also meme that makes you laugh.
What kind of post do you like most, @shello?
This exactly. Quality is just as relative as value it seems, thank you for the reminder @rezoanulvibes! I do have to remember that different people enjoy different things!
I like Philosophy posts, reflection, certain games, and thought-provoking posts the most.
What about you?
Yes, different people enjoy different things and I find that interesting. You're welcome, @shello :)
I like lifestyle, health, fitness, philosophy, mindset related posts and of course funny stuffs.
Frankly speaking, I love my friends' posts and often check out what they are up to.
Occasionally I will make a quick post, my last one featured a couple of scanned pictures of a comic and a couple of paragraphs about it, but generally I'll take a few hours to write something. I'm not interested in producing trash.
Similarly there's a lot of thrash on Steemit, the blogging equivalent of junk mail. If I click on something and the creator has only written like two sentences I just skip back, I'm not wasting anymore time on it than I already have.
do produce high-quality work, but may be squandering their time in pursuit of perfectionism. Two sentences is definitely trash, but where does the line get drawn between trash and good content?True that! @loosetooth, I was getting a little more at the content creators who
Would love your input on this!
SHIT POSTERRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At least I'm posting shit >;D
True True.....
Get back to work!~ <3
Hmmm, that is an interesting perspective and very valid point. My focus has primarily been quality instead of quantity.
Perhaps I need to re-visit the startegy and on the days where I'm still working on the higher quality post, find some alternative, easier option to blog about.
Well picked up :)
Thanks @therneau,
I've also been erring on the side of quality > quantity—but even as such, my posting has felt incomplete. My strategy for now is to go the extra mile when I have the time. On the days that I can't, I'll at least go the original mile!
Mahalo,
@shello
I think you have done a great job and its thought provoking. ( I am not just tickling your ears )
Ballance is needed, but you must provide something each day. I know we get tired and busy, but mix it up and try different things, challenge yourself. A blogger needs to aquire passion, and this will transfer to their followers and keep them interested.
If you're content is not the best, but you're passion is coupled with humour, people want to tune in to you,
because your energy is addictive.
So ballance is needed, regular posts, and allow your personality to glow through the words and pictures on you're page.
If its good content but boring, you are going to struggle against others.
Morning @sanddrift,
It's that quest for connection when I ask others the same things I wonder about :3 and thank you!
Putting in a conscious effort is something I can vibe with, and with balance—knowing when not to over-do it is what I'm looking for when making changes to be more consistent. I feel that I had some learning in that good communication and interpersonal skills beat out what we refer to a quality content. There are shorter posts that I vote because they are funny, but longer ones—although I know strong efforts were made, are hard to follow all the way through.
No time like now, to wear my sense of humor on my sleeve!~
Mahalo,
@shello
I'm of the opinion that consistency is key.
Like you said, it becomes a habit for people to check your page and they just want to see things that are fresh or they will look somewhere else.
Put things in front of people and they will read them, no matter what they are.
Not all short blogs are shitposts. You can provide short posts that are quality.
yer right, I'm a slacker!
Exactly this! There have been quite a few times that Steemians reached out to me on Discord because they haven't heard from me in a couple of days. With rapidly connecting social media, a few days could set a person back weeks (in online time).
I want to become persistent in doing posts daily, so I gotta shorten the length sometimes. Thanks for the feedback @forexbrokr, simple and entertaining is the way to go!
My biggest challenge with anything is consistency. For me posting daily is just a sign that I'm sticking with it and staying dedicated. I challenged myself to post every day for at least six months, hoping in that time I would gain some friends, some followers and some income.
I know I don't always post things of super high quality according to some, but I try to keep it polished, creative or real and make sure that my cover photos look nice.
I do know that everything I've read about posting on social media is to be consistent so that people know they can count on you for new content at whatever pace you set. I'm trying to figure out my place here, as I'm still relatively new (I feel like a beginner half the time!) but I like it and the daily challenge has been good for me.
Hiya @byn!
This is also my biggest challenge and the thing I'm lacking most on Steemit. I hope you don't mind if I try to borrow your challenge—I want to write 7 days a week, not 3! I think for me, expanding my audience and commenting more often will help me out a lot.
My comments are sometimes as long as posts. In hindsight, that's not always the best thing.
This is what I'm aiming to do, that way my friends and followers can be like; "I wonder what shello's doing today?" Knowing that there will be something there for them! :D Thank you for the info, let's see what happens <3
I'm so much better if I just do it every day. I know myself well enough to know that if I slack for one day, then it will suddenly be easier to slack for two and then three days. I know that says a lot about my lack in the determination department, but at least I acknowledge it now? :/ I look forward to seeing what you write in the future. I'll try to come by and comment and help remind you if you forget! :)
Haha the same goes for me. It's not like it will become easier to slack, more like it's gonna happen lmao! I am trying to find a way to not get demotivated easily (which I still find myself in at times), and "ride the wave of momentum!" c:
Thank you for dropping in, and as I am working on replying more promptly and visiting posts myself—I'll make sure to drop by for some visits myself ❤
I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately as my ideas for content have decreased. However, I want steem to pay for my Europe trip. I want to challenge myself to think creatively everyday and improve my writing.
Heya @kubbyelizabeth! (tagging to make sure you see this 😊)
I have a 3ft by 2ft whiteboard that is in arms-length from my desk. Whenever I get an idea for a blog I write it on a sticky note and add it to the board! Inspiration can come from anywhere and at any time so it's important to be ready! Even some of my recent blogs were never on this board and I wrote it on the spot because it moved me c: If I'm outside, I log it in my phone's notes to go over later.
I make sure I cannot run out of stuff to post lol, and having my board easily accessible like this makes it so I subconsciously think about these ideas until I feel ready to write. This is what I do, you can find a method that works for you!
You're doing an excellent job by posting every day, so keep doing it! Getting idea/ writer's block can take away time from writing. Reading, watching, and doing activities definitely help. I wanna go to Europe BRUHHH x'D
Thank you! I have a similar system, but I haven’t been doing much I want to write about. Hence my last post. It’s been a little too personal to say the least. However, I do need to step away from the computer and job interviews to soak in more inspiration for sure
Wowowowo. I honestly thought I was following you the whole time
^_^;; I changed it <3
I'll come visit that post as well, to see what's up. Getting outside is good, nice to have a switch-up/change of pace once in a while.
Remember! Negotiate for the pay you deserve!! :D
Peculiar that on FB and YT I don't see that many people being picky about quality nor do they fret about posting every day. It seems like on Steemit, all of a sudden there is a need for a brutal daily posting schedule of brilliant stuff, ..why? What is wrong with only posting once/week?
Hello @onnovocks!
You've brought up some highly interesting points. I have a somewhat ridiculous Facebook following and from my understanding, it's part mind games and a bunch of ADHD in the making. My style of posting there is very different—a few times a week, always some cheecky one-liner, or something short and sweet with ZERO context. On Youtube, my favorite Vloggers either do a video everyday or a couple times a week on set days. They don't have to be perfect, just there.
Now there is something I want you to consider. We can't really monetize our own Facebooks, and monetizing our Youtube videos isn't something that comes straight out of the box when we make an account. Another difference is that we can't access every single new video or Facebook user from our own feeds—but we can on Steemit.
I see this site as a sort of "grand battle royale" where content creators compete and unite for a slice of the pie, while building up ideas! When I first came to Steemit, I was posting once a week and that's okay to do. However, if a person's goal is top climb the ladder—being around frequently, mastering a niche, or posting fantastical content are diffferent ways to stand out.
There is no right or wrong way here. Just the way to try to get towards the goals we set for ourselves!
With love,
@shello
Definitely quality! Thanks for making me think!
Quality over quantity—we have the opposition! Thanks for coming thru @artemisnorth c:
I think posting everyday is ideal but I don't know how practical it is. I think you are right considering that not every post will be stellar.
But content relevancy is in the eye of the beholder. What you write today may not be the best in your eyes but it might strike a tune in someone elses.
Take this post. I don't know how you felt about it but for me it really it home. Being consistent is the way to being successful in anything that we strive for.
I learn every day from people like you and I admire your tenacity and your questions.
Jim
Heya Jim!
We gotta aim for some kind of ideal right? c; If we are trying to make posts everyday, it may not be reasonable in the beginning, but I feel it can be done with practice! And you sir, are right! Truth be told, I didn't wrack my brains over this post specifically, but I did observe several great writers on Steemit who were going through a similar experience.
My goals for this post were:
Tenacity lol I love that, thank you so much for stopping by today! ^_^
With love,
Sheryl
I love to read people I follow's work regularly, but I enjoy the quality posts that will teach me something new (hands on) or inform me about a topic. I do love the questions and interaction on the posts as well. I feel more connected to the author. I think it's a mix of both, keeping your audience engaged and always striving to create quality creative/informative/inspiring writing.
Hello @makinstuff!
Hahah, this is exactly why it's important to follow creators that make content you enjoy! ✰ My favorite posts are weird to describe, but I would say are the ones that cause me to question myself because it always leads toward learning!
I've actually had the problem for a long time where I would receive little to no comments on my posts, so a new goal is to make them more engaging and user-friendly. I'm realizing now that simple ideas and concepts can be brilliant depending on how they are presented c:
Thank you for your insight!
