Did you know that some people use meditation to try to change things about their own lives? Call it charms, spells, or whatever you prefer, perhaps you would like to try it for yourself! As we approach the first harvest here in the northern hemisphere, (the first week of August), that is an excellent time to focus on bringing yourself more success, wealth, or abundance! This is a way that some people try to do just that! I try to help people who want to buy special tools for this charm by offering things I have made in my Etsy shop online.
Excalibur of Yuletide
Here are some suggestions if you would like to try it for yourself!
Important notes about charms and spell kits:
Gathering materials:
It is truly important to note that a spell kit is actually about YOU. Sure, there are always certain colors, sounds, smells, stones, herbs, etc. that may benefit or be associated with any particular activity, but it always comes back to YOU. If you don't have something that is suggested on hand, make do with something that you do have! That's all they are... suggestions. Every item that goes into creating a spell kit is only there to help you focus the energy you already have within you. Add any creative touches that make it even more about you and your goals!
These are suggestions for putting any kit together.
You may choose any receptacle or charm item that speaks to you. Perhaps a bowl, vial, jar, bag, or perhaps a simple pocket-sized stone or favorite amulet or token.
An anointing oil can be used to anoint the materials you are using, as well as your wallet or purse, or your actual money or bank cards. If you have a business or other items that you hope to have prosper, you may choose to anoint those things as well. An anointing oil might include ingredients that are associated with wealth, success, prosperity, luck, or creativity. Examples include: amethyst oil, crystals and gems associated with these goals, usually in colors of gold and green to represent money. Various spices and herbs such as thyme, calendula, cinnamon, and High John the Conqueror is considered very potent for prosperity and abundance, in particular.
Actually, any of those mentioned ingredients by themselves, not even in oil can be used. You could also include cinnamon sticks, barley to represent abundance, lemon grass, rose, mint, daffodil, jasmine, and calendula – those are just some of the choices that might make sense to you! Maybe you have an herb garden? Something like basil is a great addition. There are some plants that are called “money plant”, “money tree”, etc. Also a good choice! You could even take a walk in your neighborhood or wild areas and find beautiful things to add. Always make sure you know that what you are picking is okay to take from that location, and is not poisonous to touch or a danger to your pets and children!
You might choose to use specific runes or any luck charms you would like. The Old Norse Fehu rune is a good choice because it is a great representation of wealth and prosperity.
There are even incense you might choose that are specifically for drawing wealth to you, and again High John the Conqueror is a popular choice as well.
Sea salt is a great addition, and and anything green, such as green ribbon, green gemstones, and green candles can all be very useful.
You might choose things to represent your business or goal, such as photos business cards, etc. You might choose to use a petition paper, on which you write down a very specific intention to include in your finished product, to carry with you, or to burn or bury.
Assembling the kit:
So. You have gathered some of these things together that have meaning for you and your intentions. Now what?
You may consecrate and cleanse the materials to your own liking before beginning, if you choose. A full moon can both cleanse and charge your items at the same time, or you could open a circle and perform a full ritual. Or perhaps all you need is to pass the items through an incense or sweep them clean with your besom. Or, nothing at all! It is up to you. You might choose to burn a black candle to banish negative energy. You might choose to burn an orange candle to make way for creativity and break down barriers. You might choose to burn a green candle to represent wealth and prosperity. If you don't have those, a white candle (or any candle!) would do. (Remember, this is about you, not the things you have to work with. They are only tools.)
You might light an incense. Maybe you would like to sing, speak, pray, or play music? Anything that brings together your focus and changes your surroundings into a sacred space to concentrate on your goals.
Now, use the things you have gathered. Anoint your items with oils, moon water, etc. Write down your intentions on your petition paper. If you have chosen a vessel, begin adding the items you have chosen into it. Or, if you are using a token or stone, hold it. Each item you have gathered is something special. Hold it. Admire it. Focus on it. Concentrate on its meaning or how it can help to represent your personal goal. As you do so, truly picture yourself as being already successful with your goal. Don't simply imagine that it could happen... Imagine that it has already happened. Picture your large sales numbers or the dollar amount on your bank statement. Imagine yourself doing the things you would be doing if you had the desired outcome. Travel? A specific purchase? Fine dining? The new career you want? Truly focus on those outcomes, with each of your selected items.
If you are burning a candle or incense, try to allow them to burn all the way out. If you must put out the flame before it has finished, do not blow it out, rather, snuff it out instead.
Keep the finished result with you as much as possible, whether it's in your pocket, purse, worn around your neck, or under your pillow while you sleep.
Pay repeated attention to the bag/vial/bowl,token, such as holding it, touching the items, smelling it, etc while focusing on your original intentions for its purpose.
If you have an anointing oil, use it on your money, at your business, on yourself, etc.
These are all suggestions. If it feels right to you, it probably is. As always, go your own way!
You may recharge your kit completely, any time you think it is necessary. You may use choose certain days of the week, dates of the month, moon phases – anything that seems useful to you.
Enjoy your success! It will likely show itself in unexpected ways.
Great post @zythia13!
Im going to tag @unklebonehead and @beeber so they can see that you took their advice and created a post! Next I hope you write a post about your new dog. Andy has such a great story.

This is fricking awesome.
But how do you know which ingredients to add to the different oils to make it better? Also what is the difference between an anointing and abundance oil? Are those purchased somewhere or can you make them?
These are questions a bonehead needs to have explained, lol!
lol Well, I'm no expert by any means... First -- ingredients in the oils. Well, ingredients for ANYTHING, actually... Can be all in the eye of the beholder. So, some of these things have an historical president with other cultures and especially pre-Christian history and folk magic. But SO much culture and history were lost, especially because none of it was written down. Much of the stuff is new, only a generation old, and loosely based on history -- or simply what people decide to do! There is much freedom in this sort of thing because there isn't a book of rules.
So. Ingredients. Herbs, flowers, rocks, things dealing with the phases of the moon, and things dealing with earth/air/fire/water are very common "ingredients" with various meanings. Some meanings are a bit more universal (think of how red things, roses, rose quartz, and rose oil are likely going to be tied to things dealing with love and affection) and some are completely what a person wants them to be. So, that said... For a money/wealth/prosperity spell, (or any other) you are going to be looking for things that represent it in some way, especially if it is meaningful to you. So, certain colors of money are a common choice, whether those things are rocks, herbs, flowers, or candles. You are probably familiar with aromatherapy? People believe that certain smells of essential oils "do" certain things, such as calm someone or energize someone, etc. So, those smells, herbs, etc. might go well in incense or oil as well. It can all be mixed and matched, for the most part, based on whatever a person thinks they want to do.
Lots of things can be used for "anointing". In a way, it's a lot like when someone gets baptized, I suppose. The water gets blessed by someone considered worthy of doing so, and then the water gets dumped on the baby and whatnot, thereby passing on its significance to the baby. So, in a roundabout way, is an anointing oil. Moon water is such a thing... It's just water that has been left under a full moon, to gather the moon's energy, Or one could even do that with the sun as well. And then use that water to, sort of, bless their stuff. So I guess you could look at anointing as more of the action, rather than the substance. And whatever substance is being used to anoint the stuff, to make the stuff be special in some way? lolol I'm rambling.
The abundance oil, on the other hand, is an anointing oil that is made specially to "bless" stuff for the purpose of creating success, wealth, money, and abundance. I could have called it a money drawing oil, or prosperity oil, too, and it would have meant the same.
Yes, they can be purchased, and yes, they can be made. They most likely will be made by someone and made available for purchase. For example, I made the abundance oil to go in my Etsy shop so people could buy it in different kits with candles and other things if they want to try to concentrate on bringing themselves more prosperity using such things, and would include a bottle of the oil as well.
Awesome! Thank you for the clarification! I do gotta admit. When people start mentioning oil the first thing that pops in my head is 10w-30. Lol.
I will check those out. Im always interested in stuff from "the old days' of human history. I'm one of those people that believe we've been on this planet a lot longer than everybody thinks.
And yeah... being a Subaru enthusiast, I can understand the oil thing. lol

My personal interest is in an animistic world view, which was likely the first and longest-lasting world view until organized religions became popular, as in... the beginning of humans being humans world view. I am also very interested in Norse mythology and the crossovers of germanic and Celtic mythology and gods, etc. Very cool stuff.
Yes it is! I love how all the old stories from different cultures are all either intertwined and very similar to each other. Makes one wonder if humans were are lot more closely intermingled or if we all came from a common ancestry and the stories were all plagarized from the same one. LOL!
Hi :-) great post! I love the way you tell people not to follow strictly rules, but to see them as guidelines, hearing at their inner voice and feelings :-)
Hope you will continue posting more often!
Thank you! Looks like I will be making a dog story post on Saturday, for sure. lolol
I think it's important for people to realize that there really are no rules with this stuff because much of the history has been lost over time, so it has usually been reinvented in some way. No one should ever feel like they have to BUY something for things like this. They are all just symbols.
Fantastic post
@zythia13
Thank you for sharing !
I have a couple of different essential oils I use and find them mindfully and peacefully beneficial.
Lemon grass is one.
I love picking fresh herbs.
Sage,Rosemary and mint.
:-)
I agree! I use different essential oils and fragrance oils in my candles and soaps sometimes. But I have pet rats so I have to be kind of careful with fragrance in my own house. They have very sensitive respiratory systems.
